  1. War, I get the Pats as we have played them twice a year for decades. Saying, let’s finally sweep the Oats or something makes sense and applaud the enthusiam. We haven’t had Josh QB for a championship game. As I said, it doesn’t matter.
  2. OP, you know you can change you’re title right. You’ve now been told how many times “finally makes zero sense as he’s never been to an AFCC game”. It doesn’t matter to me. Happy for Josh and his success as I love the Bills.
  3. It’s hard for me to believe this could be serious. I don’t know. If really is a valid inquiry, wow, Deshaun may be into something. Probably not though. Even if the jokes no one wants to go there, another experienced coach would take on the challenge.
  4. I’m unclear why this is a surprise. They get a baseline concussion e v a l. Before the year. If a person has a sudden cut off of blood flow or compensated blood flow from one carotid to the other and pinched nerve, it’s very plausible they would look confused, dizzy, and had a gait issue. Once resolved, they would return to normal function. Inigo mentioned in another thread and was right the toe is the bigger issue. I’m not sure if it’s turf toe or another issue, but that can affect his throwing motion, scrambling ability, and although fixable in time, would impede him to a degree Sunday. There is only so much medication you can give to help that problem. It doesn’t matter. It would’ve been a win with an asterick if he didn’t play. We are good enough to beat these guys. The media acts like they are unbeatable. That’s just not true.
  5. What a nice memory Chand. I’ve always been a Berman fan. He’s not been shy about letting people know he roots for us.
  6. Beasely although was a full participant Wed., was back to limited duty TR. I’m guessing they are just being cautious and Davis may be fine by Sunday. The Chiefs can’t double cover everyone. Between Diggs, Brown, Beasely, Davis and McKenzie, we should be fine against a Chiefs team that was 15th against the pass, and 21st against the rush. Im not saying it’s a lock to win, but I believe we have a 60% of beating them. We’ll find out Sunday.
  7. He’s a decent role player. Not everyone is a star, but you need unsung heroes to round out a championship team.
  8. It’s surprising this interesting read about the evolution of the Bills with Beane and implied McD how they constructed a team, and the takeaway is Beane doesn’t draft well. I looked at the 2017 drafts through 2020, and looked who is a contributor for us or another team like Teller. McD and Beane (added McD as he ran 2017) and my benchmark was Bill Polian. He has stated many times on air he tallied his drafts for his career and self reported he was 57% accurate at drafting contributors to his teams or later on another team. Now he is in the HOF, and similar statements over the years have been made by Ron Wolf, and Gil Brandt. The point wasn’t the %, but simply that it’s not practical to think a really high hit rate is attainable like 75-80%. It just doesn’t happen, and furthermore they will say it’s about all of it meaning fair value in free agency, trades, finding gems in UDFA’s. Polian has further said taking these very high priced free agents doesn’t necessarily work to build a team. An example of a trade I don’t hear anyone complaining about is Diggs, or acquisitions for Poyer and Hyde. If you start looking at these guys, an argument can be made they have made very wise decisions. White Milano Dawkins Teller even though not on our team Allen Edmunds H. Phillips T. Johnson Neal Oliver Ford (jury is still out on him) Singletary Knox D. Johnson Sweeney (may still be a contributor, but has been hurt all year) Epenesa (growing in skills his rookie year) Moss Davis Fromm (we’ll never know as he is in witness protection this year, but is insurance) Bassomatic Dane Jackson (he has real promise) Now there have definitely been several misses like Peterman and so on, but that doesn’t mean McBeane haven’t drafted well. There are several examples of late round steals like Milano, Dane Jackson, G. Davis, and Taron Johnson. My personal opinion is we have drafted well, have made many choices in FA that have worked, trades, and so on. They built a team in four years that has manageable cap space, good team guys, made the playoffs three of four years, is going to the Championship game, and sustainable. This was a very interesting read Coach so thank you, and provided a lot of insight into the evolution of the team. I too have been frustrated with some misses, but then I’ve seen a number of players develop in time. It’s more about perspective and expectations. I haven’t been this excited about a Bills team, how it was constructed, and developed for sustainability growth over a long period of time. Polian, the architect of our glory years seems to be unfolding again here with this Mgmt and coaching.
  9. It’s a little surprising Wyoming went for the Chiefs. I know the proximity, but there have been so many outspoken Allen fans, thought maybe they would be in the running. It really doesn’t matter.
  10. I’m not a doctor so I’ll defer if others are speculating with more detail, but you can look like a concussion of you have one of you’re carotid and jugular temporarily pinched off. I used to work doing carotid stents for some of the best interventional rads, Neuro interventional rads, and so on. It’s impossible to tell from the video. it could’ve been a concussion, possibly a nerve, or what is reported. The chiefs can’t hide anything as it’s an independent Neuro who evals the concussion from their off season e v a l. What he is at now. I don’t know and even Dr. Chao, the guy on NFLR says he doesn’t know for sure (prior Chargers team doc and who many interview on these things). if it was a nerve or blood flow cut off temporarily, he would be much better now rather than a concussion. I called one of my buddies I used to support his INR cases (the brain docs who do strokes and things like this issue). The doc said if it was a nerve or blood flow loss, it would definitely be temporary and if you didn’t have an obstruction on the other carotid, the other would just compensate. Hey if a concussion, that Neuro has to clear him and his license is in play. Does it really matter? I want to beat the Chiefs with him playing. No BS, we didn’t belong in the SB. We were the better team, and I think we are the better team. We’ll find out Sunday night.
  11. So OP, nice thread. NFL Regular Season Defenses Points Bucs 9th Chiefs 12th Packs 14th Bills 16th Yards Bucs 6th Packers 9th Bills 15th Chiefs 17th Bills Offense Points 2nd Yards 2nd Ill take these odds. The data is skewed due to earlier in the year. We’re on fire right now. LET’s GO BUFFALO!
  12. The only color I’m partial when the same top and bottom is the all white. It’s just me, but not crazy about all red, definitely not red over white (I think we did that once and we looked like the 90’s Patriots), nor all blue. I guess I’m old fashioned as I like the blue over white, or white over blue. As always, thanks Shady for posting.
  13. It’s really not Marrones fault as they just lost Ralph, probably wasn’t sure about the Pegulas as they I believe bought and had ratified by the league the purchase that year. I don’t like him as a coach as he was way too predictable and was never going to bring us to a McD type team. He was dealing with Whaley and the womanizer. He was a line coach for 10 years and thought he was close to Saban, so it makes sense. He wasn’t going anywhere with the Jags.
  14. I voted for the Packs only because of the potential the toe could limit Mahomes. That’s a wild guess and he could be just fine. It’s difficult to pick the Chiefs vs. the Packs. They are both two of the best outside of us. I watch the Bucs most weeks and they are good, but can be beaten. During the regular season their record with winning teams as indicated after week 17 is 1-5. They looked good against the Saints, but the other three are better. I like our chances this weekend at maybe 60-40% we win.
  15. It’s funny that was on the Howard and Jeremy show this morning. They were stating that this had to be the worst sports take in history. I know he’s been a Bills bandwagon fan lately, but this is ridiculous.
  16. Inigo, the WGR guys have been asking the question for weeks, “what would make this a successful season” Ive said since before the season to win the East, and win at least one playoff game. I’ve felt that would be progress and we’ve exceeded it. We are one step away from the SB and their QB is dinged up at least as far as we know. It sounds like from the news today the concussion may not be an issue, but tbd. The toe though could slow his mobility down, maybe. I don’t if I’m relaxed and calm, but there’s nothing I can do about the outcome of the game, so why worry. Then again, I was excited, but not worried about the last two games.
  17. Shady, you may be right. Everyone wrote Allen off in 2018. It’s way too early to write off Tua. You guys may be correct as a lot of Alabama QB’s have not done well in the NFL. I’m just not willing to write a guy off in half of one year. Maybe he’ll stink, or maybe a full second year with more talent, a full off season and he turns out a little better. I honestly don’t know, just not willing to write the guy off so soon. I’m not saying you or motorin are writing him off. I just think it’s way to quick to make a decision. That’s all. I do want to repeat, I hate the Fins. Living in FL, I can’t stand these guys. The Jets are a dumpster fire, the Pats are getting old with the guys coming back from opt outs, as another bad BB year and he probably retires or just does the front office thing. I thought it was interesting though McDaniels is interviewing with Philly. I’ve thought for awhile he is just waiting for BB to get out of the coaching and take over. Maybe not. Honestly, I don’t care as we should have the AFCE for awhile. Just because I think MiMi ascends doesn’t mean I think they are as good as us in the foreseeable future.
  18. Hey Born, haven’t read the whole thread yet so apologize proactively if already answered. On this team we don’t play base defense as much as some times, so Taron was substituted with Klein at a 65% or so nickel with Taron, to 1/3 Klein. Klein when Milano’s playing so a traditional 4-3 with 2 safeties, and 2 CB’s was the Sam (I’m sure you know but just in case the Strong Side LB). Millano was out so much this year would be easy to confuse as he was the Wil. When Milano was out. That was simply because the Ravens can only seem to pass inside the hash marks, and TE’s used a lot over the middle. It was a very smart plan for this run heavy team. We set the edge with Murphy more in this game, and clogged up the middle so the TE end throws we took away. McD and Frazier had a great defensive game plan and used the right talent. I don’t expect to see this as much against the Chiefs, but if we get past them (I’m betting 60% chance we win) and get the Packs, you may a little more of this strategy, as they are a good running team. Most casual fans (not saying you) always think of GB as a pass happy team. That’s a more balanced team so you can expect mixing it up a lot, dare I speak the words SB. That will be one hell of a good game if we win, and if the Packs win to get to the SB. The Bucs beat them earlier in the year, but the Packs like us have turned it on in the last half of the year. I hope that helps, and my opinion is not doctrine so others may feel differently, but never be concerned with a very good question. I certainly have needed these other guys to help me at times. Just because I played and coached, I as many of my friends remind me here don’t know everything about football. It’s a lot more complicated of a sport than some others. It’s really a chess match and talent. So fwiw, that’s my opinion. Oh just because I’m typing this now, breaking news, Rivers is retiring. Just went over the air on WGR.
  19. Motorin, I stand corrected on draft picks as I didn’t take into account the compensatory for Brady in the third, but I swear Sal said two weeks ago on Howard and Jeremy’s show they didn’t have a 2nd. Whoops, but can admit when I’m wrong and I was wrong on that one. As far as the Fish, they have a lot of talent, spent $235.8 mil. In free agency last year, had 11 picks he now 10 this year, and per Spotrac have $25.5 mil. in cap space. What I don’t know if this is based on having a cap projected at I believe $190 mil. I know Tua took a lot of flack on this board and deservedly so, but I remember how Allen only had a 53% completion in 2018. He was erratic, but he had a lack of talent around him. Well Tua had no real OTA’s or pre-season games so I give him a little space. We should have proper OTA’s and pre-season so we’ll see how he does in 2021. BTW- I’m old enough when I was a toddler in the 70’s watching the Fish clean our clock for a decade (I don’t remember the first five years, but the second, yes) so I’m no fan of the Fins. I just think they have enough talent and resources that if they start to gel will improve. No one expected them to go 10-6 this year, and not a lot of analysts thought so many new faces could come together this year. With the Fish you just never know. They could draft another QB this year. They certainly have the capital with the third pick.
  20. Thx Chand. I assumed you old farts would know. 😇🏈 Just kidding, I know you can take it.
  21. The Fins will be our competition in two years. We should be fin next year, but after we probably will be ducking it out for some time. The Pats I don’t think even has a 2nd and 3rd round pick next year. They have some $, so they will probably be going after one of the older QB’s again like a Stafford.
  22. I wasn’t alive for those years, but for the older guys, wouldn’t we have gotten killed by the Packers if we did win? I’m not responding sarcastically as I honestly don’t know. I’ve only seen some highlights from that timeframe. Under Lombardy, I thought they win 5 of 7 NFL championships before and during the first two SB years. My dad speaks fondly of those days.
