  1. John, I like you’re points. Regarding Star, I saw a precipitous loss of performance from Oliver and Edmunds when he was out as well as a loss of run defense. He’s one of those unsung heroes kind of guys. With Ford, if he is a solid Guard, that makes it that much easier to shed Morse’s contract and keep Mongo at a lesser price moving him to Center.
  2. Ok, sound point. It’s too bad Hodgins wasn’t faster, but we will add him to the mix next season, so a second tall possession WR like Davis. I’ve seen some mocks as I always pledge never to look at that stuff until we’re out for this season about us taking a WR. I’m sure if we do and we are after speed, you’re wish may happen. We definitely need speed both at WR and RB, but I doubt they go for another RB in the draft unless it’s late in the draft. We have too many other needs to build on for the draft. I’ll tell you bud, the draft will determine who we cut. Once we see that, bodies will fall.
  3. It was obvious Cleveland’s running game kept them in it. I can’t say their defense is better than ours as they finished the regular season 17th, and we were 14th. With that said, our defense played well in the Ravens game and ok with Indy. The Chiefs game was a joke for our defense. As much as I think the Chiefs are going to win, they are far more balanced than us. Solid defense, good passing game, but they can run when they need to unlike us. We’ll see. I just want a fun game now that we are out.
  4. BTW, if any of you guys come to Tampa next year, I’ll meet up with any TBDers for an adult beverage (on you of course 🤪). TBH though I may be relocating back to Buffalo for another position in my field in the coming months. Still tbd, but I must be the only guy living in Tampa that would be excited living back in Buffalo.
  5. House, I sometimes can’t tell if you’re kidding. I guess New Orleans NCIS is not a favorite show for you. That show has grown on me which is pretty much the only reason I know NOLA is New Orleans.
  6. H2O, this is on the AFC rotation. In 2018, the last time we played the AFCS, the game was home, not in TN. Now in 2019 we had the same ranking for the South vs. East, and we were at home for the Broncos that year. Why the schedulers chose the Broncos at home and TN away is probably not high on their priorities. If it helps bud, they’ll have to come to Buffalo in 2024. Just to try and drive you nuts (just kidding), those sick son of a guns if we finish winning the East and they win the South, guess where are playing in 2022?
  7. By the way, regarding the projections are missing something. Does anyone know? Guess. Yep, that’s right, it’s a 17 game season. Better redo all you’re projections. Me, it’s 20-0 baby! Mark the tape! You have the tar?
  8. So who and at what cost are picking up two defensive linemen, blocking TE, and speed WR? If anyone suggest cuts which will happen, they’ll need to be replaced, so who they and what is the cost to each one? Remember there currently are only 8 draft picks, and you need at minimum $7 mil. For the draft, then another $5 mil. for an emergency fund in case of injuries. That’s $12 mil. there and we just came up in Spotrac as $6 mil. over. I don’t know why the flip from being $2.6 under just two days ago. Brown didn’t look healthy when he came back from his injuries. Only staff truly knows if he is still battling the knee/ankle injuries? I’m not a big fan of cutting a player who were as valuable in 2019 with over 1,000 yards, and we don’t know if he can get back to form in 2021 with rest and rehab. Ill grant you the others are just guys. I had high hopes for Jefferson, but I’ll grant you both were just guys. The coaches seemed to think there is value in Smith, although I don’t see it. I wholeheartedly agree an improvement from our TE grouping is needed to get to the next level. I appreciate the thoughtfulness, and I wasn’t picking on you, it’s just cut someone you have to replace them. Don’t worry, there will be 25 other guys doing something similar. I’d love if someone wants to cut people, the place in who they would add tha t are free agents, the potential costs as you can easily find on otc or spotrac, and what is the net cap as a result. I know I can’t do it, nor would I spend the time, and if I did it would get picked apart. You made a nice effort though so I appreciate it.
  9. Blasphemy Doc, the Pats? 😄 I agree with you there will always be unexpected losses. Remember this year, everyone was commenting before the Titans that we would win because we beat them in 19, even though it barely against Marriotta. I guess this is why I don’t bet on football. Too many variable makes it too risky. A case in point the 4-11 Dolphins beat the Pats in week 17 of 2019. Anyone predict that one. It should be a fun year. Sad this one’s over, but only 1 fan base is happy every year. Go Bills!
  10. John I was slammed months ago for stating a similar point. I knew then and now that is tampering and illegal, but you can’t prove either way unless Beane or McD copped to it. We go into the draft in 2017, fire Whaley the next day and poof there was Beane on May 9th. We’ll never know, but I can’t believe two friends weren’t having a private conversation or two regarding Tre. It doesn’t matter, my view is Beane has had solid drafts so why would I think this one will be different. No one has perfect drafts. No team, and there’s no way to say our late round picks will make it.
  11. MJS, I mentioned something the other day in getting ready for championship weekend. The SOS prior to the season starting among various organization was either 5th or 6th depending upon the source. Post season our schedule for 2020 was posted after the games were played was 15th or 16th depending upon the outlet. It just reminded me you can only trust those SOS articles so much. I’m not saying you or anyone else is carrying any weight with you guys. Just reminds me to take just as a referencing point. On paper it looks like Tampa, KC, Steelers maybe, Indy, and TN could be a challenge. I didn’t add NO as how do you predict how well they will play without Brees (assuming he retires). Could the Steelers nosedive with Ben falling even farther off in performance and does the Steelers want to retain him at his cost as its astronomical in 2021. Could Brady retire if he wins the SB. Probably not, but you never know. Without Rivers, are the Colts going to be as strong? No one knows, and eball thanks for the thread. I’ve put off starting this thread until after the season so appreciate it. The last part is how good will the Bills play in 2021. I guess we’ll know a lot more after free agency and the draft. We should have a better handle once we know who is in and off the team. One thing that is the brutal truth 😂 is I believe completely McBeane will figure it out. They are shrewd and history dictates they will continue to make good decisions. In McBeane we trust.
  12. Mickey, I don’t have a BN subscription, but you did a nice job describing. Reminds me when my grandparents were alive they had such a long memory handed down from generation to generation of how my family moved to PA in the 1800’s from Ireland and England (can’t believe back then they married with all of the bad blood 150 years ago between those countries). The sad part is as each generation passes my family loses more of the history and memories. I know I can’t remember everything my grandparents told me as a child. I’m glad you had a nice recollection of you’re family history. Go Bills!
  13. BB, you know that’s a demotion bud from O Coordinator for Baltimore. Good to hear from you though. Haven’t seen you around much lately.
  14. I was thinking the same thing. If it were you, would you really want to go there? Originally I thought yes simply for Watson as he can cover up a lot, but it seems the ownership has propagated a dysfunctional environment. That’s only a guess so I really have nothing to back that assertion. Frazier is a sharp guy who was a head coach, and maybe something didn’t feel right. Maybe not, and Culley just won out. Frazier should get another shot next year, and the Pegulas are backing him along with McBeane. Since there 6-7 openings almost every year, he’ll have his shot again especially if our defense improves. For the Reid comment, you can also add Culley’s boss Harbaugh. He went from ST coach to Head Coach which isn’t that common. He’s turned out to be a very successful coach.
  15. FWIW, per Spotrac, they still have the cap at $178 mil. and they are the cap experts, not someone saying, yeah but it will be $185, 190, 200 mil. The only saving grace is if there are new tv deals that come 5rough so they can borrow for two years against their future. That does mean the cap won’t go up though in two future years as they borrowed against their future. I just looked and something changed from yesterday as it now places us 21st at -$6 mil. so teams like Seattle who are +$4 mil. are in better shape. I expect this will ebb and flow and I don’t know why we flipped $8.8 mil. The excitement of grabbing some guy on the cheap isn’t going to happen. The teams at the top of have gluts of $ like the Jags, Colts, Jets, Pats, Bengals, WFT, Bucs, and Dolphins will benefit. There are more, but these guys right now are at the top. We have now due to comp. picks 8. If the Texans hire Frazier we get another 3rd., and an extra 3rd. next year. Wrap you’re arms around that point.
  16. I see both sides. We improved tremendously under excellent ownership, management, and coaching, but we still need to improve. All is true! You’re both right.
  17. Well, the gouging rate for QB’s will continue to go up, he will play this year even if extended on the rookie salary as would not kick in until 2022, and they could make it cap friendly in 2022 to free up funds to extend the guys they want to keep over the next three years. A dream would be to mirror a 10 year deal like they did for Mahomes as barring injuries, we’re attached to Allen for another decade. Most players and agents don’t like that deal as in the last half of it lesser QB’s will be getting more, but Allen would have to push that to his agent. The risk on the team obviously is the injury risk vs. guaranteed $ loss due to a catastrophic injury. I wouldn’t want to send that message to the best player on our team and the one that singlehandedly could kill this team if he is not performing well. At the beginning of the year maybe as no one could possibly predict Allen would improve this much. Even the most optimistic fan wouldn’t have predicted 15 wins, a championship appearance and in large part due to Allen throwing the team on his back.
  18. He’s definitely not worth my time, so I’m not going to listen. I’ll take you’re word for it JN, amd there is truth to the coaching way too conservatively.
  19. Transplant, I always like you’re posts, and Virg, well you know. As far as the injured WR’s maybe A healthy Stills and McKenzie could’ve helped somewhat, but we’ll never know. I can’t refute just about anything you wrote Virg., and now for me as I’m not a hockey guy (I enjoy, but not like a rabid NFL fan so it’s onto movies and other fun things to do). Ill miss these Monday morning posts, but my brother you did such a nice job all year as you’ve done in the past. Between Yolo breaking things out in a millisecond, yours and Shaw’s rockpile review, and many others for their contributions, and most of all the humor from many guys (House, Gugs and Eball at times, Ridge of course and many many others), it helped all of us manage a COVID Social Issues year where so many of us were or have loved ones laid off. It was a challenging year, but you guys made it better so thank you.
  20. It wasn’t the health if the WR’s alone. They out played us, outschemed us, and flat out had more talent. They deserved to win, and we deserved to lose. We are the second best team in the AFC. The best in the NFC tome are the Bucs, Packers, and Saints. The Saints should have problems though although it’s probably a forgone conclusion Brees retires, and they are just not going to be as good with Hill or Winston. Thats a successful season to me. Coming up with this little thing, or that little thing is just not admitting we got our butts kicked. It hurts when I played, and when I coached, but it’s best to just move on and not look for every little or big thing we did or didn’t do and move on. If you guys want to keep rehashing, that’s fine, but it won’t help anymore how much the expectations became so excellent and now it’s gone for this year. Most people just wanted them to win one game and we won two. Sucks as we have another 8 months to wait to see them start winning in the 2021 season.
  21. He was a pleasant pick in the draft, amd am excited to see what Hodgins can do as a compliment in the red zone. Both don’t address speed. The story on Beasely breaking his fibula now makes sense. I was surprised he could play at all. I still think Brown must have been more injured than we know as he just never looked the same since his injuries earlier in the season. What I’m hopeful for is a hit at TE in the draft. Supposedly this is a very deep draft for this position. We don’t have the $ at all for free agency so all of these people stated in so many posts aren’t going to happen.
  22. Cant wait for the next riveting thought for the day tomorrow.
  23. I’m conflicted as I don’t like Brady, but I live here in Tampa. It almost feels like validation we are a very good team as the only one to beat us in the playoffs was the SB champs. If the Bills won that game, even though it wasn’t even close, I could see fans if other teams saying we were cocky as you’d see some of our skill guys smiling on the sidelines, etc. At the end of the day, we finished 15-3 and won the East, two playoff games, and lost only to the defending SB champs. If I had said this to you guys at the beginning of the season, most of you would’ve taken that as a projection. Im exhausted in a good way from our run, so I’m just going to sit back and really not care that much who wins. As long as it’s an entertaining game.
