  1. H2O, one thing I like is you try and provide thoughtful threads, so thank you. You also don’t just say what if, what if that? ive read and heard the same from a variety of sources. I don’t know how real these points are as it is a stretch to see Wilson, a franchise guy who you’d assume there is some serious deadcap $ with him. He might be just wrangling or his agent to have more input on strategy. I just don’t know as it’s not normal like the GB thing with Rodgers to think he’s going anywhere. You might be onto something, but again thanks for the thread. Definitely worth hearing discussions. The other part is in a Covid cap world this year, that’s a big swallow for his contract. I think it’s around $35 mil. Per year.
  2. New Era and MPT, sounds like guys need to go to their corner. You both made very good points. The problem I’m not perfect but really try to not make it personal and just agree to disagree. I think both of you guys have good arguments. Anyway, we’re just having fun. Thank you for sharing seriously both of you.
  3. Hap, Yep. I wrote this a month ago that be careful on SOS. We were supposed to have the 5th hardest SOS prior to the season, then several outlets evaluated at the end of the season as we knew the outcomes and turned out to be 15-16th based on outlet as you can’t predict the injuries of the 49ers, the Pats would be that bad and opt outs, the Dolphins would improve far more than expected, and so on. So will Brees be back, will the Panthers be able to make a deal for Watson, and so on, and so on. Will Brady even finally fall off. Too many variables, but pretty sure the Bucs, Chiefs, Dolphins maybe, Saints if Brees comes back, Titans, and Colts are possible battles, or not. Seeing a SOS after FA and the draft is more interesting to read, but still doesn’t tell all.
  4. I try and be a glass half full so from that perspective, our football acted almost a month later, and was great. I had misgivings too after the SB as it’s a long off season. I can enjoy other sports, but it’s nothing like the NFL.
  5. I was with a buddy Dave, had moved to Tampa a couple of days prior to Bills/Giants SB so I had been in Tampa two years and had made a bunch of friends. Hadn’t met my wife yet (that was a a year and a half later), so was heavily into the single deal to that point. There was a sports bar called the Fraternity House. They had all their waitresses in these little cheerleader outfits, amd management only hired incredibly hot girls. Dave, who was from Buffalo as well were getting frustrated the whole game. He asked me should we leave. I told him let’s see what happens in the 3rd quarter, but there is probably no way they come back. The it happened. We were high fiving so much by the end and after several pitchers of beer, Dave yelled, THATS IT WERE DRIVING TO PITTSBURGH! We were so excited we considered it, and then the hangover kicked in, amd we tried really hard to find tickets but couldn’t. We thought that place was good luck so we went back all the way to the SB. If we could’ve found tickets, we’re dead set we would drive 18 hrs. Up and back from Friday night through Sunday night.
  6. I hope he is ok. I don’t wish injuries on anyone. At least he has the whole off season to get healthy.
  7. Cheekitowaga Don. Replaced by Favre. Hey Ice, nice to hear from you bud. Happy you’re guy won MVP. Our guy will get there and has a lot of time to get it. I really thought the Packs were going to beat the Bucs, and I live here now. Too bad we didn’t have a Packs - Bills SB. Coudve been what should’ve happened in the first SB, but before my time. Anyway, nice to hear from you. Don’t be a stranger.
  8. Tubster, yes down here in Tampa it was non stop about whether to trade him. I was in the camp Tamp would benefit from him learning from Gronk and Brady. It became moot as he was hurt early in the year. He’s definitely an upgrade, but it’s one year on his rookie deal and then have to pay him.
  9. Going for broke on FA splashes is what brought us to a 17 year drought. It’s more important to have a strategy and stick to that long term strategy.
  10. Oh, those troopers gave it to him alright. Liked the Barry Sanders/Dave Meggett spin move though. It was funny and incredibly stupid as you know he’s not getting off that charge.
  11. Thanks for a measured position. I appreciate when people can acknowledge a weakness early, lots injuries to key players early, and improvement throughout the second half of the year. We absolutely need a pass rusher, and will need to replenish what we may lose in FA, or what we jettison.
  12. As to Howard, he has one year left on his contract at $6 mil. so would have to be a trade. He’s good for 500 yards a season, but it was believed he would take a good step this year before his injury. You have to ask, do you want to give up a pack for that price and is he worth it. He’s good as I’ve watched for several years, but us he worth this year a draft pick. As to Gronk, he’s never leaving Brady, and he is still impactful, but how many years does he really have left? He also costs more to bring on board. McBeane would never do it.
  13. I read both and I’m close. If you have to get one FA upgrade, and you look at the positions we could use an add it’s RB (no we need a young explosive one, I.e. Harris in the draft), an edge rusher (way too expensive in FA), CB (a nice add, but we have some talent in the 2nd sitting next to Hyde, Poyer, and White), and TE. Whether it’s Henry, injury issues, but maybe, or if there is another that’s a game changer, this position group is less in the tight end market. The only problem is it eats up $ even if constructed well for any of the needed extensions. We’re not as far off as has been stated so it’s like what Beane said, no big splashes. I’d love a TE in FA, I just know if Beane can accomplish everything. The next two years we have the AFCS/NFCS, then the AFCN/NFCN. This upcoming year could be another good one. Some competition, but this past year was very competitive.
  14. As he was in July of 2020. The Bucs were smart pick him up in two to three days this summer. I was hoping, but didn’t predict nor did just about anyone about Moss and Singletary.
  15. It was a lot of things. Bucs pressure with 4-5 Bucs ability to run when needed Solid O Line
  16. The Bills defense was 14th. 13th on pass defense (a disappointment given the previous two years), and 16th on rush defense. Basically we were used to top 5 the previous two years so we went from one of the best to avg. On offense though we were 3rd, and 2nd in points. Now that was an incredibly dramatic improvement. If you listened to the whole podcast, he wasn’t a Homer. He discussed cap hits on different players and inferred Morse is a possible cap casualty and stated Feliciano might be about the same at a lower cost. Sal seems to give a fair assessment not dodging talking about deficits of the Bills, but not playing the doom and gloom game I’m reading right now. I didn’t hear we are the best, but I also didn’t hear we are the worst. We did win 13 games in the hardest schedule of playoff teams. That’s true as I’ve said so many times as i took the time to go through every playoff team and posted several times we were 6-3 against winning teams. That was better than any other team. Part of that can be just who they played like the Chiefs and Steelers who didn’t play as many winning teams, but they won close to as many as we did. I think he’s just saying, guys put it in perspective. Not the best, and not the worst. Things to improve, yes, but so are Chiefs fans saying today as well. The same with every team who didn’t win the SB.
  17. Everyone has a right to their opinion. Sal has been a very informative guy and points out a lot of things you don’t hear from other WGR guys with data, etc. I don’t think he’s perfect, but he’s not in my humble opinion egomaniacal. Think what you want, but listen to other cities local guys and you’ll find he’s a lot better than most. I live in another city and you get a lot of the Bulldog stuff. That I will never listen to as it’s just noise.
  18. A. Smith has for his entire career been underappreciated. He made the Chiefs a competitive team allowing them to compete, and Reid wisely pounced on Mahomes when he saw the opportunity. Inigo, thanks for the optimism, and you’re right.
  19. Turk, we are having the same brain here. I listened early morning the wrap up last night and the MTC guys on NFLR stated one of Gronks nice add, is exactly what you said. This also then allows Brate who is awesome to be the pass catching guy, and then after Gronk takes the initial add block, he can step forward and be the release for Brady in short yardage and he gets a ton of YAC.
  20. I was careful on this board not to be too positive about TB as I get the Brady hate, but you nailed it. He’s like the Broncos some time ago. They may have been crushed in the Seattle one, but Manning blew up that offense that year with tons of talent, and then a beat up Manning carried through the finish line with an incredible defense.
  21. Well, do we want to feel like we made it to the AFCCG, and lost, as seen as an accomplishment, or the Boy I Love Losing SB’s Bills which is what would’ve been said if we lost to a Brady Bucs. I’m glad we didn’t face that scenario.
  22. I agree. It’s hard to say last night that the Bucs didn’t have a solid running game, good O Line, and excellent TE’s. The pats, yes, but that’s a reason why Brady is here (sorry I’m in Tampa). Here he came into a very good O Line, Evans, Godwin, AB, Miller, Brate, and Gronk. Let that talent and of course Brady is going to be good. BB let that part of the game go, and Brady said enough. The Bucs were the #1 rushing defense, and improved consecutively throughout the year in the secondary. Those guys are young and they improved tremendously throughout the year.
