Streaming won’t take over network tv football. Not everyone in the country does streaming. Everyone watches in some part tv, even if only a little. I can see the contracts going up significantly and has been reported in multiple outlets. NFLR and TV have been speculating on this for months. Andrew Brandt, The Business of Sports, past executive for the Packers and agent has been discussing these negotiations for awhile. You’d have to sift through his podcasts to find the excerpts, but he is incredibly interesting and knowledgeable on these matters as well as anything else pertaining to contract negotiations of players, cap stuff, etc. Its probably one of the reasons why some of the owners have made it public to push the cap close to last year. They are also using the threat of a lower cap to squeeze lower contracts for guys coming up, so they are playing both sides. Anyway, it’s all speculation by all of us, so it’s wait and watch.

I would love Tyrod, Fitzy, or Dalton, but all cost more than $2 mil. Allen doesn’t need a mentor other than his QB coach and Palmer. I can see it being Webb and Fromm, and by September, they may not need a Covid quarantined backup. It’s too early to tell, and as always just speaking to the football thing, not societal issues. If for some reason the cap continues to rise with new tv contracts, then if Fitzy wants to wrap it up for $4-5 mil. as he’s 38, and would be his last year or two, I’m all for it. I’m not sentimental as much as I like him, but Fitz proved with Miami, he still can win tough games with the right tools around him.

It was speculated today Ertz is a likely cap cut from Kirwan on NFLR, MTC. I don’t know. Might be worth a look. I understand his lack of production in 2020, but he was injured most of the year. Prior years he was rated the third best TE behind, Kittle, and Kelce. The team docs have to determine whether he is worth it. It’s not any different than our J. Brown who was a 1000 WR in 19, but had persistent ankle knee injuries in 20. Is Brown now crap or was he just banged up. IDK on either guy. If Ertz was healthy and can reproduce his previous success, he could be worth it on a Covid cap year on a friendly deal.

It’s going to keep coming, but don’t get excited as we don’t have the $ for these tickets, or they are too old. A nice compliment to you guys is noticing on WGR how many of my guys here who put up great material becomes talking points after on WGR on the various shows. Recently I’ve noticed how many draft prospects, or talking points, free agent prospects leads here, and then comes up on WGR within a day or two. Hats off to some of you guys as I rarely see the opposite where they have a talking point, and then comes up here. Not me. All you guys so tip of the cap. That is not a negative on them. I’ll consider vaccination something we can talk about over the summer. I know it relates to football, but can wait. The real pertinent point is the tv contracts. There are speculations from several sources the new contracts could happen soon. I was accepting the $175, now $180 mil. floor. If one of the large networks comes through we could see a lateral cap. It’s dumbfounding how much they may need to pay for these contracts. It’s estimated a 70% or more possible increase. We’ll see. I'm happy if happens, but until it’s a yes, it’s we’ll see.

Primadona. Im not sure if the relevance as lots of guys are great at DS football and coaching who didn’t play. See Andy Reid, and BB. I played youth and HS, and coached my kids and others for flag which was a great coaching experience with youngins considering this was an ultra competitive league (I thought too much as they recruited and scouted but it’s florida. They are nuts down here). My kids went into tackle and coached that fir a few years. They were great but loved lax more. Then I had pressure off me as I was just dad. they were awesome and I could just sit back. As a dad, playing is one thing but coaching you to help the, be their best. As a dad, you just sit back and just let them have fun. I don’t know if it helps you with analysis. I have spoken to so many guys (unisex phrase as women can do just as well) who’ve never played, but are guys I value. GB is one of those as my guy from another pond loves the game and really never played. I know there are a ton of other examples. To me, I don’t care if you never played. You’re opinion is just as important unless you write something that shows you don’t know the game. I don’t think you have to play it to know it. I could be wrong. Bottom line is I value any solid opinions whether you played or not. As my brother you used to say, don’t be a dumb ars. Brothers.

IDK, there are some reports he wants more than we can afford, but it’s all speculation at this point. I believed Beane when he said he wasn’t going to make any big splashes. First nice thread Chongli. Regarding the Pats, I see the point. BB is 69 and most likely has no interest in a complete rebuild. As far as Darnold, he would have for first time a good line, weapons and a balanced team with a solid defense. If he doesn’t produce there, he’s a permanent backup. Chicago would be making a desperate move and that will fail.

I know. Lime, I can tell you he like other substance abusers get pretty good at hiding their actions and lie, etc. Whether he had CTE or not, I do know in Tampa, he was a really positive force to help the needy. So much has been said about CB opposite Tre, but we have three top flight people as DB’s, and I’m comfortable with the guys you stated. If we get that Edge Rusher, and Star back, we could get back to that top 4 defenses like we had the last two years prior to 20. Whether O Line, RB, Edge, and possible a replacement for Milano (which I hate that idea but it’s a possible reality).

If you’re referring to Watt, several people have already stated GB, Pitt., and NO are most likely out as they can’t produce the cap space for him, nor Tampa as one outlet purported as they have too many URFA they need to extend. TN and Buffalo are two viable choices. I guess I’m biased, but we are closer than TN to a ring, and I’m sure his people have already said Buffalos two needs are a pass rush and a rushing game. He can help with two of the glaring needs. Besides he’d fit right into McD’s culture and probably love to be on a rotation. Here he might play 60-65% vs. 85-90% in Houston, or maybe even less to 50%. Probably would help an already great career as with fresh legs, he can wreak havoc on defenses.

It’s not that hard to just think through extensions, cap space, cuts, cap savings vs. dead cap, and the impact on the team. The other is cost of improvements. They can maneuver some $ for Watt, but they would need to be creative. Blowing up the team on defense and changing the fundamentals of what McD learned under Jimmy Johnson in Philly is crazy. He’s not going to do it. Nor should he.

There are so many examples of underestimating Allen and the team, it just seems like white noise at this point. I expect next year the Bills and Allen will be marginalized again and I don’t care. If anything, hopefully provides more fuel for them to succeed even farther.
