That’s the problem with Josh’s development he’s being coached by someone whose clueless. Daboll even justified the offenses huddle. All this leads me to believe that the young QB is being coached improperly. The head coach and offensive coordinator don’t even appear to be on the same page. The HC says they need to get the ball more to Singletary but yet the OC calls for him to get only 8 carries. You know they are not on the same page when this is not the first time the HC has said they need to get Singletary more touches. It’s been shown in multiple games this year whenever the opposing team’s defense has a weakness Daboll has the offense do the opposite. Your QB has fumbling problems but yet you continue to call designed runs for him instead of giving the ball to your most effective RB.

McD's weekly presser: Huddling not planned on final drive
Iverwig replied to Reed83HOF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is why Josh is making mistakes and the offense sucks. Coach McD is a brilliant defensive mind but it’s obvious he doesn’t get involved with the offensive game plan. For him to say “it wasn’t the plan to huddle , we had to” What the heck dies that mean? Don’t tell me Josh goes hurry up and then all of a sudden huddles up. That’s not on the players that’s on coaching. For him not to know why Singletary only has 8 carries and then say we need to do a better job of getting him the ball. Didn’t he say that a few weeks ago? This team is doomed this year. -
Would you trade our 1st round pick for Mike Evans?
Iverwig replied to bills6969's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No, because Daboll will find a way not to get him the ball and then say the other team was expecting them to get Evans the ball. -
Fair point but truth be told outside of a Lamar Jackson all the other 1st round QB’s from last year are struggling. Everyone knew the QB the Bills drafted was a project. He has potential to be boom or bust and he’s shown both but I just don’t have confidence in this staff to develop him to what he has the potential to be. Russel has Pete Carrol as his head coach BIG difference between he and Coach McD and it’s not even close. Mahomes sat his entire first year and has arguably the best offensive minded HC in charge of him. Although I truly believe Watson is a much better QB than a Josh look at the weapons he has in comparison to what the Bilks have. Josh needs to be better I said that but let’s not act like he has a quality offensive minded coach leading him.

Allen does need to be better but he is a second year QB. PLEASE, show me where Daboll has been any good as an OC in the NFL. His predecessor before him was Dennison who was bad as well. How can you place Daboll before a second year QB when Daboll has a track record of every offense he’s ever coached in the NFL rank at the BOTTOM of the league offensively? Does Josh have issues? Yes, but no one in their right mind expected him to be consistent his second year. Coach McD made bad hires offensively and that’s what happens with defensive minded head coaches. Not to get lost in my post - show me ANYTIME Daboll has had success as an NFL OC. I guarantee you can’t because I actually checked where his offenses have ranked and like I said Josh is actually making him look better ranking wise then any other stop he’s had as an OC. If you can’t see that I don’t know what to tell you.

If Playing Time is earned, why not Un-earned! (edited)

This is why I don’t have confidence in this staff. They continue to play players who should not be playing. Lee Smith should not be on this team but yet continues to see the field. Gore looks slow but at least he’s contributed to the team this year Lee Smith has hindered the team in every games he’s played. -
1. Baltimore is a MUCH better organization and staff then the Bills. 2. Please show me what kind of success Daboll has EVER had as an OC. His only success came at Alabama where he had much more talent than everyone else. As a matter of fact if you look at his offensive rankings this year compared to his other NFL OC stops he’s actually doing better with Josh as his QB. Every other stop Daboll was at his offense ranked at the bottom of the league. 3. Roman at least had some success but more importantly he NEVER coached Josh here so you can’t compare. Like you said apples and oranges. I laugh at some of the fans around here. It’s like I posted in another post half these fans don’t really know football.

I agree that they need to spread the ball around and go up tempo however, I do not believe Coach McD wants that in order to protect his defense. This staff is not doing Josh any favors and I do not have confidence they will allow him to be what I think he can become. Some Fans blame Josh for everything gone wrong with the offense and he has made his mistakes but, for them to defend Daboll who has been terrible as an OC every stop (NFL) he’s been tells me either 1. They never liked a Josh to start or 2. They don’t really no football.

Antonio Brown - A hypothetical question
Iverwig replied to Kirby Jackson's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
1st off this staff would probably be afraid of AB. 2nd I wouldn’t touch AB unless the Bills were arguably had a chance to get to the super bowl. 3rd He does not fit the culture so there is no need to discuss AB. 4th AB needs psychological help so that’s enough not to touch him. -
When can we start to admit that the process failed?
Iverwig replied to ShipUPride's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
After today I hate to say I have lost confidence in Coach McD. I’m not a Daboll fan at all and believe he should no longer be the OC but the head coach is a problem as well. The kicker should not be on the team this year but yet he was given an extension. 1 for a lot in challenges. Lee Smith has no business being on this team but yet he continues to play. A rookie RB averaging over 5 yards per carry but yet minus maybe 2 games this year they rarely get him involved. The team sucks in the 3rd quarter every game. It’s mind boggling that this team makes the same mistakes each game. All of this speaks to the HC and his ineptitude. He’s a great defensive mind but has a lot to improve on as a HC. Josh is an issue but I have zero confidence in this staff to set him up in successful situations. -
Daboll is an excellent play caller

The funny part is fans around here act like Daboll has been a great OC everywhere else he’s been but, he’s always been a horrible OC in the NFL. I wonder how many of his defenders have actually seen his offensive stats the other times he’s been an OC. The same way the Bills rank at the bottom of the league on offense is how his other units have ranked. As a matter of fact for those criticizing the QB so much you can argue this has been his most successful ranking as a OC in overall offensive stats. -

That’s what good offensive coordinators do they make adjustments to adjust to the team’s strengths. Once again, Josh is who he is and that’s a project QB. The offensive scheme is not working and hasn’t been working. How long do you stay with the same game plan each game when you can’t score? How many times do you call designed runs for your QB who has trouble holding onto the football? If your QB can’t hit certain plays then why don’t they adjust? We see the same thing from Josh every week some good some bad. Josh is who he is so why does everyone expect to see something different from him each game. He’s not all of a sudden going to start hitting deep balls when he hasn’t all season long. Any growth at this point will come in the off season not during the season. Bad if you have an inconsistent QB. Riddle me this, if your QB is not consistent why have him throw 41 times especially when the team you’re playing has a horrible run defense. I’m not saying run it 50 times but if you have a project QB why continue to have him throw so many times. -

Nope! Coach McD is part of the problem. Defensive coach that wants to handicap the offense and shut things down. I have zero confidence Coach McD would make a good hire. -

Iverwig replied to Buffalo Barbarian's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The point is they should have come in focusing on the run. This is not the first time the coaching staff has tried to out smart opponents by going with the opposite and it doesn’t work. When the Bills have faced teams with a weak secondary they ran the ball. it’s been just the opposite when they’ve faced weak run teams as they’ve passed the ball. When Josh struggled they still called pass plays instead of helping him out by running the ball. Josh can be better no doubt but Daboll can be better. You have to be smarter with a second year project QB and he’s not setting him up for success. Josh is what he is at this point. He’s not going to be a hall of farmer all of a sudden. He’s going to give you good plays and bad plays but you have to set him up for success and not running the ball more is not helping him. Sitting on the ball at the end of the game after Josh hit two big throws is not helping him especially when he’s been one of the better 4th quarter QB’s in the league. I put that last drive on Coach McD more than Daboll but Daboll can be better. He needs to fire himself after what he did to end the game. -

No, but when you are playing one of the worst run defenses in the league and your rookie RB is averaging over 5 yards per carry and he only has 8 rushes that’s on the OC. 8 carries for Singletary while Allen had 6. Pathetic! -
Huge difference between the two teams and especially the two coaching staffs. The Browns coach is not a real head coach and acts like a position coach meaning he wants to appease his players and be their friend. Regardless of the talent this is a game the Bills should win. Will they? That remains to be seen and that’s why they play the game.

Some fans are acting spoiled because the goal before the season was to just make the playoffs. Heck, many fans were predicting a losing record. This team is not a championship team so I wish people stop acting like it is and enjoy the year the team is having. Josh is a fumbler but he’s a qb not a RB so the coaches have to take that into consideration when they call for QB runs. The defensive line played very well in the second half. Enjoy the season and what they’ve accomplished because regardless of who’ve they’ve played they have been consistent. The team has too many holes in key spots to be a championship contender not to mention Daboll is not very good at play calling. As long as the team gets to the playoffs it’s a successful season. They were 6-10 last year and they have a patchwork of an OL. Enjoy the ride.

Maybe but that can't be the exact reason because the Bills have gone to an empty backfield quite often this year. Even if that was the case he should still get more carries then what he has been getting. They should be running the ball more than what they have been doing.
