  1. As long as they aren't "1,000 meaningless yards," as referenced by another poster. I still haven't figured out how 1,000 yards in a season could ever be meaningless.
  2. This thread has become utterly unhinged.
  3. I'm amazed at the notion that we should get rid of our best WR because he isn't best enough. And in favor of another teams baggage, to boot.
  4. Best offensive player available, IMO. If we're going with our current QB roster, we MUST improve EJ's options.
  5. Rest in peace, Mr. Wilson.
  6. Nope. From all we have heard from OBD, we are just going to sit on the crappy QB roster we ended the season with.
  7. This is a thread where some of the fans get to display their short attention spans.
  8. Are you suggesting that we drop our #1, and replace him with the Bears' #3, whom they didn't want to pay?
  9. Why? Whether we draft a QB high, low, or not at all, we are going to start the season with three QBs. The backup will (and should!) get reps. If we draft a first round QB and put him in the backup roll (where EJ should have been),and EJ is the starter, how is that worse than getting a less desirable backup?
  10. I think that you're not the only person to post this sentiment, or perhaps you've posted it several times. But, I think it's wrong on several levels. The situation Marrone walked into last season gave him no choice but to draft a QB in the first. The discussions on these boards weren't even about whether or not we would draft a QB in the first, but which one it would be. And, that was out of a severely weak class. AND, EJ was barely on anyone's radar. If Manziel or Bortels were in last year's draft, no one would have even been talking about Geno Smith, who was the clear frontrunner. History is littered with first round draft picks who underperformed--and, so far, EJ is one of them. That is not a reason to fire Marrone. Denying the issues we have at QB would be. And, what is wrong with drafting a first round QB two years in a row? Washington drafted RGIII, and Kirk Cousins in the same draft. Given the factors-- the weak class EJ was drafted from; his three knee injuries, and the games he missed; the fact that "the jury is still out" on EJ (God, I hate that phrase!); the lack of a veteran back-up; the dreadful issues we had at QB last season (too numerous, and depressing to list here), I see no reason to hold it against anybody for wanting to draft a QB in the first. Who cares what we did in the last draft??? Look at it this way, we have three options: 1) We get a QB in FA. 2) We get a QB in the draft. 3) We sit on the QB situation we have. I was hoping for #1, but that is looking less likely by the day. #3 seems too depressing to even think about (although a shocking number of people on these boards seem fine with it). If we go with #2, we better fight to get the one we want (even if that means trading UP imho), or it will be a wasted pick. When Marrone arrived, we were looking for a franchise QB. We don't know if we have found one. So, why shouldn't we still be looking?
  11. I am astonished at the short term memory of what appears to be the majority of the Bills fans in this forum. Our QB situation last season was miserable. How could anyone be fine with just sitting on the QB situation we ended the season with? Lewis would be a fine backup IF we had a proven starter, who could stay healthy. We don't have a proven starter. And, having suffered three knee injuries in his first season, staying healthy is a pretty big IF for EJ, as well. I was really hoping we would pick up a veteran in FA-- that may still happen-- but how anybody could be satisfied with our QB situation last season is beyond me. If we don't sign a vet, then YES, we should draft a QB-- even if he is just a prospect. Sitting back and just HOPING that our quarterbacks will get better with age, after such a dismal season, is crazy.
  12. I would be all for it. But, I'm usually wrong about these things.
  13. Beyond obvious that this was going to happen. OK, so now what? Manuel/Lewis/Tuel? I doubt it. Anybody have any predictions on what our QB situation will be at the start of preseason?
  14. Yes, THAT Marc Sessler. That article you linked is from January 1st. Are you suggesting that NFL pundits should be consistent?
  15. No, I guess I wasn't paying attention to Freeman's ONE GAME that he played as a Viking. I was, however, paying attention to Tuel, and if you think he's better, I would say you are a bit unhinged. You could make the argument that Lewis is better-- and I think you would have a hard time finding someone who wasn't a Bills fan to agree with you. Currently, pundits (including Marc Sessler, and Gregg Rosenthal) consider Freeman to be a top 3 FA QB. But Tuel? Be serious. Good God, I hope you're wrong!
  16. Josh Freeman, also. He's only 26. Regardless, if we don't pick someone up in FA, are we going to draft another QB? In what round? And then Thad Lewis will be our most veteran QB? (I'm assuming Kolb is done?) I highly doubt it! And, again: I can't imagine that anybody thinks we are going to start the next season with EJ/Lewis/Tuel.
  17. So much talk on this thread, and others about LBs, WRs, TEs, OLs... all real needs to be sure. BUT... I keep waiting for someone to bring IT up, in any of these threads-- whether it's regarding free agency, or the draft. But, no one brings it up. Does anyone think that we are going to just sit on the quarterback situation in which we ended the season? EJ, with Lewis as back-up. And Tuel? And Kolb somewhere off in the distance? Really??? There are some good quarterbacks out there in free agency. If we're going to be aggressive in FA, QB would be a good place to start.
  18. My bold prediction: we trade for Matt Moore for another offseason QB competition.
  19. I've lived in Los Angeles since '91 (born and raised in Rochester), and work in the motion picture industry. I have literally worked on, I will guess, around 300 music videos in my career. Maybe more. I have done two RHCP videos (quite a few years ago), and have met Bruno Mars on the two videos that I have done of his. I will say this: The RHCP are extremely cool people. Flea, who lives in L.A. recognized the dreadful state of music education in public schools, and opened a music school for young people in L.A.. And, they're great musicians- truly. Their music is literally seminal. Bruno Mars, on the other hand, is about 20 years younger than any of them, and could by no means be considered seminal, or ground-breaking, or even original. But, he is still "the real deal." The dude is about 5' 5" with pipes for days. He works hard, he's a competent and dedicated musician (guitar), he is committed to his craft, he writes, sings, produces, and has paid his dues in spades. In short, he has nothing to be ashamed of, and deserves every bit of success he earns. There was an internet petition a couple years ago lobbying for Weird Al Yankovic to perform the SB Halftime show, which I gladly signed. When that happens, I will be glued to the TV at halftime. Until then, I will be happy with someone who is "The Real Deal," like Bruno Mars. He will do just fine.
  20. It's the way in which the behavior was allowed that bothers me.
  21. How you jumped to that conclusion from my post, I don't know. Perhaps you're assuming that Schwartz is going to be our savior?
  22. I just woke up here on the West Coast, turned on my computer to NFL.com and saw this story. My first reaction was that my heart sank. I saw a lot of dirty football coming out of Detroit under his tenure. Of course, this is only as a casual observer of the Lions. As bad as we've been over that past decade, I've always appreciated out team's class. Gailey benched SJ over an end zone celebration. Schwartz allowed some truly reprehensible play on the field.
  23. I would think that given Marrone's recent statements regarding Manuel, and the lack of experience in our back-ups (and I am making an assumption that Kolb will not be here next season), that it would not be unlikely for the Bills to bring in another veteran in the offseason- hopefully someone a little sturdier than Kolb. So, to the OP: Would you please write another analysis outlining all of the various results from a 4-way QB competition involving Manuel, Lewis, Tuel, and veteran X?
