  1. Life... don't tell me about life...
  2. I was wondering if people feel that AW is just not going to return to form, hence the high votes for Blanton.
  3. No he didn't. That is a common quote taken completely out of context. In my opinion, that is a completely loaded take. You're cherry picking quotes to suit your thesis. You don't want to "discount the eye roll," yet you are willing to attach your own meaning to it, and you're willing to discount other things that he actually said. For example, he also talked about how he was given a role, and worked as hard as he could to fill that role. If anything, Hogan was being kind in that interview, in my humble opinion. (And, correct me if I'm wrong: I do not recall reading anything that would suggest he was anything but a positive influence in the locker room.)
  4. Did you even read the article? What, exactly, did you find offensive about the answers he gave to direct questions? You think the Bills did him a favor by hiring him? You don't think he worked hard as a Bill?
  5. I've been a Hogan fan for as long as he was here. His current team notwithstanding, nothing he said in this article has changed my opinion of him, and I have no idea why someone would consider him a d-bag. Hogan has been our most durable WR during his time here. Frankly, his words could have been quite a bit harsher, and I wouldn't have blamed him. The lowball offer given to him by the Bills was an insult. I strongly suspect that he will be a major contributor in NE, and may very well become one of Brady's* favorite targets.
  6. It brings into question just who the OP is referring to when he says "we..." If Mr. WEO is not included in "we," then nobody is safe!
  7. Well, trolling is not necessarily negative. If you consider that the euphemism has its root in fishing (as opposed to the the troll under the bridge), you have essentially started a thread with only a thinly veiled invitation to dog-pile on your overtly optimistic opinion. Which is fine, of course. This is a discussion forum, after all. But, am I the only one who finds it slightly comical that a member with fewer than 700 posts is claiming, "we don't need your negativity" to someone with over 17,000?
  8. But, wouldn't it be cool if he did?
  9. I don't believe we are going to be seeing Hendersen starting this year. Certainly not at the beginning of the season. I don't feel like I can say how adequate Mills is. I know a lot of people on these boards think he's terrible. I don't feel like we've seen enough to say that. But, I'm not counting out Kujo just yet, either. I know the media has suggested that the job is Mills' to lose. But, I have to believe that Rex is going to let some level of competition play out. It would be great to see Kujo finally live up to his reported potential.
  10. How many yards did Tyrod rush for? Over 500, I think? I would hope that those 500 yards go through the the air this season, and then some. If our ground game remains about the same (minus TT's yards) I'll be happy. Hopefully, shady will be full speed, and we end up with a dynamic compliment like we did last season on Karlos. Although, I doubt that's going to be Karlos again this season.
  11. Yeah, :3rdand12 is one of my favorites, as well. Also, Yolo, of course. And Bill from NYC. And 26cornerblitz. I've learned a lot from all of these dudes. I've also always appreciated the debate style of No Saint and others. And, honestly, I am very appreciative of some of the more contentious (to use a polite word) posters who help to keep this place lively. This site is pure gold. I've been trying, lately (and generally failing) to get myself into being a Rams fan. I live in LA, and both my kids were born here, so I've been going onto some Rams fan sites. Joseph, I haven't found a fan site here, or for any other team with as high an average football IQ as this one. Cheers to you all!
  12. Oh, gosh... look who's crapped in the punchbowl again.
  13. In our division, Jarvis Landry is up there for me. Love watching him play. Gives 110% every snap.
  14. Oh, god... please, no...
  15. I've been re-watching all the games from last season. And, for whatever reason, it took quite a while for Sammy and TT to develop chemistry on-field. I suspect that Tyrod (and probably Roman) was just playing it a little too safe and not willing to throw into double coverage, and not giving Sammy the opportunities to make plays. In game one, I don't think Watkins was targeted at all until the second half, and then only a few times. It's hard to watch. By the end of the season, of course, Watkins looked like, and was used like a true #1. It would be a shame for that chemistry to take a step backwards.
  16. It did, indeed, get crushed in the housing collapse. But, lots of places did. I do believe it is rebounding. As far as it being affected by casinos in other parts of the country, you wouldn't think so by going there. They're constantly building new ones. There's a whole string of enormous casino resorts that you'll pass on the way in from LA. I've worked at a couple-- they're nice, and absolutely huge.
  17. Sure, but Frisco has their own team which, I would assume, draws away from Oakland's market. Move East from Oakland, and it gets pretty sparse, pretty quick. If the Raiders move to Vegas, there would be a significant market in Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, and San Bernardino Counties that would be ecstatic. Knowing those fans, they would probably be happier about a move to Vegas than they would a move back to LA. Considering the construction infrastructure available in Vegas, as well as copious cheap land, tax revenue, and casino moguls drooling over the potential revenue stream, the NFL could get a beautiful, multi-billion- dollar, air-conditioned stadium built in about two weeks, for about a $1.50. The Vegas of today is a lot different than it was just ten years ago. Vegas has had significant growth in terms of economy, jobs, and population for decades. They could absolutely support an NFL team. It would just be a very different paradigm. On a personal note, as a resident of LA (born and raised in Rochester) I would be absolutely psyched for an NFL team to land in LV, and I consider the Raiders to be a perfect fit. I would be going there twice a season, at least, to see a game. Bills vs Raiders in Vegas??? Oh God, please let it be!!!
  18. Not to my satisfaction. Salary cap is one of those things that seems quite confusing to me, and that I haven't made the intellectual commitment to try and completely figure out. Kind of like about 65% of the functions of my iPhone 6s, or my "cloud" (whatever the Hell that is). C'mon, ALF, try a little harder. If you're going to educate all of us, do it right. We're all counting on you.
  19. Battling personality disorders...
  20. I think the idea of the Raiders moving to LV is a great idea. There are already so many Raiders fans in Southern California, and flights are so cheap, and easy, I think they would sell plenty of season tickets to people living in LA, Riverside, San Berdoo, and Orange counties alone. Also, these would be some exciting games. Because of people's willingness to travel to LV, there would be a huge number of opposing team fans for every game. Of course, this would hurt the Raider's home field advantage. Oh, well. But, how much fun would it be to go to an NFL game in Vegas? I think anyone in LA who isn't a Raiders fan would love to keep the Raiders the hell out of LA!
  21. Edelman is great at getting open, and has chemistry with Brady*, but look at his drop percentage-- it's horrible.
  22. To me the most astonishingly nearsighted, reprehensible, self-obsessed part of Kraft's statement is: "What Tom has had to endure throughout this 18-month ordeal has been, in my opinion, as far removed from due process as you could ever expect in this country." Really, Bob? A four-month-long independent investigation, a lengthy NFLPA appeal, and several court hearings, all culminating with a Second Circuit Court of Appeals decision which YOU decided not to take all the way to the God Damned SCOTUS??? How much more "due process" do you think you and Tom's* privileged, self-entitled asses deserve? Without getting too political: Maybe Bob Kraft hasn't been keeping up with current events, but there's a long list of folks earning in the low end of middle income, and lower, who could tell him a thing or two about how much "due process" one "could ever expect in this country." What a pompous, self-serving, ignorant, myopic, and offensive statement.
  23. It would seem that people on this thread are responding to this thread from the employer's standpoint-- Can (or should) the team hold their players responsible for their off-field conduct? When I read the title of this thread, I immediately thought of it from the fan standpoint-- Does the player's off-field conduct matter to me? Certainly, there are fans who couldn't care less what the players do on their own time, as long as they perform on the field. Such fans bemoan the "reality show" element to the NFL, and just want to get down to game day. (Perhaps, it is this perspective that has little appreciation for preseason games?) I find myself tending towards the other side of the spectrum. I really enjoy rooting for a team I can be proud of. That's why I was a big supporter of Hogan, and MarQueis Grey. And, of course, when a player can put it all together, make themselves a positive influence in their community, and be a stud on the field, that's just fandom gold, to me. I love rooting for guys with compelling stories.
