i say this because I believe that Romo needs more protection than most QBs at his level-- not just to keep him healthy (which, obviously is a big issue), but to keep him effective. I don't think he is able to operate outside the pocket the way he used to.
-
It just seems so unlikely to me that Romo would give up the cushiest and best paid backup position in the NFL to come here and get mashed. If he were to come here, we better make some serious upgrades to our OL, or it will be a monumental waste of money, and the 2017 season.

This whole situation reminds me of 2013 when there was no way we were going to hold on to Fitzpatrick, and no way we weren't going to draft a QB high-- despite the widely held belief that it was a woefully weak draft class, and the majority of analysts held that Geno Smith was the BOC. And so Whaley went looking for a diamond in the rough. That was the thinking that got us EJ.

Which will make you more depressed Falcons or Patriots?

I can see why the OP didn't bother making this a poll. I have four hopes for this Super Bowl: 1) I win my Super Bowl pool. 2) The Pats* suffer a humiliating loss. 3) The Pats* wear their white pants, and Brady* gets hit hard enough that he craps himself on the field. (Not to end his career, mind you. Just to soil himself on National TV.) 4) Somebody pulls the fire alarm in the Patriots'* hotel at 3:40 am the night before. Just one out of four of these would make it a good day. -
Sorry, but I'm still going to miss Hogan

"I don't downplay the impact." And then you go on to downplay the impact. In the very next sentence. Hogan just broke the Pats* franchise record for receiving yards in a playoff game. That's not "unique?" -

Edelman's drop percentage has been super high for his entire career-- shockingly so. I have to believe it is his YAC that make him so valuable to the hoodie*. I think also that Brady* has been willing to throw to him in exceptionally tight coverage, which may also partially account for his frequent drops? -

Don't put words in my mouth. IMO, having Hogan on the Bills this season would have been like having a second Robert Woods. And no, I don't think that would have gotten us another win. What I do find striking, though, is how far some Bills fans are willing to go to downplay the impact that Hogan is having on a Super Bowl caliber team. That I consider idiocy. I agree. But, I don't really understand the grudge. -

I do believe there is a difference between #2 WR, and second option. Were Gronk on the field, Edelman would be their second option, and #1 WR, right? Hogan passed Amendola on the depth chart as the Pats* #2 WR by week three IIRC. -

I wish I could remember who it was on this site with whom I made the bet at the beginning of the season, that by the end of the season, Hogan would have surpassed two out of the four of the Pats*: Gronk, Edelman, Amendola, and Bennet. My point at the time was that Hogan was a perfect fit in NE*. Well, he passed Amendola on the depth chart almost immediately. Certainly, I won't count Gronk, being on IR. But, tonight, in the conference championship game, Hogan was the Pats* #1 receiver. Most targets, most receptions, most yards. Regardless of how one feels about him personally (looking at you, Kirby), we should lay to rest the notion that he is a JAG. -
Manziel is back! Sign him Doug!

Lets assume that we are going to drop at least one of our current QBs. Assume also we will be drafting one. We will need at least one camp arm between now, and next season's final 53, no? I can't even remember the names of some of the guys that filtered through the organization in that capacity. Some of them were low grade journeymen, some pulled off other team's practice squads, and often they were long-shot prospects. Why not have an entertaining camp arm? Hell, Tebow went to the Pats* briefly. I'd take Johnny Flameout over him. -
Sorry, Augie, don't get all logical here. Until you are in the five digit range, and preferably over 20,000 posts, your opinions are irrelevant. worthy only of scorn, and ridicule.

I'm so impressed with how prescient the most common posters on this board are. So, tell me again which of our players are being retained, and which one's are getting released?

I have to hand it to 4mer. One little hook in the thread title, and he's reeling them in. That's some mighty fine trolling. Schwartz for me.

The lengths you will go to not admit you are wrong is hysterical.

I hear Cutler has a glass jaw. And Jim's is titanium, or some sort of alloy or something. -

1) Unless you have some inside knowledge, this is pure speculation. The competition for a qualified HC this offseason is pretty huge. There are a lot of HC vacancies. 2) I keep hearing that this "decision is already made," but I am skeptical. At the end of the day, we may very likely have no better option. 3) I'm not so sure that Gilmore's value is as high as he thinks it is. I agree with a previous poster that this is a coin flip. Be that as it may, I will indeed feel sick if he lands in Miami. 4) Jay Cutler??? 5) By this yardstick, we could say that last year was a downer for FA, but it wasn't. 6) Despite his "sophomore slump," Darby is, IMO, a solid #1 corner. Kevon Seymour as our #2? FA pick-up? Or maybe it is our #1 pick. I wouldn't be too upset by any of this. 7) Let Woods go. Too many dropped balls, and not enough production. I've never understood the love for him. I've always thought he was mediocre. But, keep Zach. 8) This is probably true, but there is just way too much that can happen. I'll be hopeful until I'm not.
