  1. Personally, I wouldn't put a number on this, because it really depends on who is available. And, as should be obvious to everyone, there ain't much available at the moment. (Hence, a discussion on the wisdom of acquiring Nick Foles.) I think the mistake is to scrap a team's current middling QB in search of a diamond in the rough. I don't fault anyone for the EJ pick-- it was a relatively low-risk pick, as first round picks go. We traded down for him, and he certainly, at the time, seemed to have potential to become something special. And, the idea of holding on to Fitz was a non-starter. But, it was the lack of Fitz (or even Trent Edwards, for that matter) that made the EJ pick so risky. Coming out of the draft without an established starting QB, even with one of those rare, superstar draft picks, like Andrew Luck (or RGIII!!!, remember his prognosis?) is shaky ground, indeed. We should keep Taylor, and stop looking for other, equally mediocre QBs to replace him. Draft a QB high, keep developing Cardale, and move forward.
  2. Then you disagree with #7, as well.
  3. Do you think Seymour is starting material?
  4. I agree with a lot of this including letting Gilmore and Woods walk. I agree with many that losing Gilmore is risky, but we all know he will be asking a very high price, and I am of the mind that Seymour has a high ceiling. I'd like to see us get a solid #2WR in FA. Kenny Britt? I'm not sure I am too high on any of the QB prospects for the draft, including Trubitsky, and Watson, and I hope we don't reach too high for one of these guys. Hold on to TT. I haven't heard ANY reasonable expectation for any other QB, drafted or otherwise, that gives us a better 2017 season. And, I find the idea of writing it off, and planning for 2018 utterly depressing.
  5. Seems a little similar to the Rams strategy this last season with Keenum/Goff, except that TT > Keenum, and Watson < Goff.
  6. You want to swap TT for Brian Hoyer??? For the sake of 8 million bucks? Seriously, that sounds like an utter drag. Are you sure we couldn't coax Kyle Orton out of retirement?
  7. Is there a suggestion here that only the Bills score points in "garbage time?"
  8. I think just about any reasonable scenario where they bring in someone like McCown would be as a replacement for EJ-- not necessarily a rebuild.
  9. Sincere condolences. May you and your family find peace.
  10. Written without a shred of irony...
  11. To be fair, on both teams.
  12. ...no...i guess not...
  13. Mods, Can you just close this thread now, so we can start our long, long offseason?
  14. That's some mighty fine analysis there...
  15. God, I hate the Patriots*.
  16. i say this because I believe that Romo needs more protection than most QBs at his level-- not just to keep him healthy (which, obviously is a big issue), but to keep him effective. I don't think he is able to operate outside the pocket the way he used to.
  17. It just seems so unlikely to me that Romo would give up the cushiest and best paid backup position in the NFL to come here and get mashed. If he were to come here, we better make some serious upgrades to our OL, or it will be a monumental waste of money, and the 2017 season.
  18. This whole situation reminds me of 2013 when there was no way we were going to hold on to Fitzpatrick, and no way we weren't going to draft a QB high-- despite the widely held belief that it was a woefully weak draft class, and the majority of analysts held that Geno Smith was the BOC. And so Whaley went looking for a diamond in the rough. That was the thinking that got us EJ.
  19. This is pretty great. http://www.theonion.com/articleslideshow/bill-belichick-greatest-asterisk-nfl-history-55180#0
  20. Out od curiosity, and because I respect your opinion, do you personally think that Foles is a better option than TT?
