  1. Born and raised in Rochester, but have been living in Los Angeles since '91. Last season, when the Rams moved to LA, I thought that maybe they could be my secondary team, and I could become a Rams fan, as well as a Bills fan. I tried. I really did. But, it just didn't work. I was so looking forward to a healthy Watkins, and a repaired defense. Oh, well... I'm still looking forward to Streater. I'm waiting to see if Daikiel Shorts continues to impress, and makes a spot for himself on this team. I'm wondering if McD sees Trae Elston as potential starting material. He impressed the hell out of me on Thursday. Watkins isn't the first player that I have been pissed was cut, and he won't be the last. And, if I end up hating McD, he won't be the first HC I've hated. I wanted to throw Dick Jauron into the Niagara River-- above the falls, of course. There are threads like this every season. My one, and only warning point was from a response to a thread like this. That thread sucked, and so does this one. Bills forever.
  2. A 24-year-old elite wide receiver?
  3. I wouldn't call the LA Times fake news. It's a legit newspaper. But, local newspapers write puff pieces on their players all the time. Buffalo is no exception. Los Angeles would love for Goff to reach his draft expectations, and the LA Times reflects that. Is The Buffalo News a legit source on the Bills? To a degree. But, they're biased towards their team, just like we all are. The Rams have the distinction that they are trying to find their identity, and the biases that the local media have will reflect that, as well.
  4. I live in Los Angeles, and I would say, "all of the above." LA was starving for a football team. I know people who are LA natives who were fans of various other teams- Cowboys, Titans, and Chiefs, for example. I have no idea why they chose those teams to be fans of. But, they all became Rams fans when they moved back here. The Chargers' arrival has thrown a wrench in that, I think. But, these are all people who follow football. It's a fan base that is still developing, and I can say that this signing gives them a bit of a shot in the arm.
  5. I respect your open-mindedness. But, honestly, how do you even make that judgement? In what universe will we be able to look back on the season, and say, "I guess we were better without that elite WR talent, after all...?" If we go 10-6, and make the playoffs, who's to say we wouldn't have won another game with a better #1 WR? If Watkins snaps the bone in his foot, I suppose we will have made the right choice. But, even in the event of a different injury, it would still be speculative.
  6. You missed my point entirely. I am very much against this trade, and was fairly (and I will admit, naively) surprised by how many people were happy with it. Obviously, we have a lot of dopey posters. What still baffles me, though, are the justifications used that have so little to do with the actual event, or, indeed, reality.
  7. And yet, the poll has this trade at a 2-1 approval rating. Oi. Also Bill in NYC, Yolo, 26CB, Nosaint, and others. These are the posters I come on here to read, and learn.
  8. How old is Watkins? We traded away what would have been one of the best parts of our future, for a second round pick. There's just no way of apologizing for the poor value, present or future, we got for him.
  9. Of course the Rams fans are stoked. Why wouldn't they be? They got a great deal, and an elite, healthy WR. I'm going to guess that Goff is pretty happy, too.
  10. Alas, I live in Los Angeles.
  11. Trying to hijack the thread in the second post? Couldn't you wait a page, or two?
  12. Well... I don't mean to be a downer. But, I wouldn't take anything the LA Times says about any member of the LA Rams with anything but a large dose of salty eye roll. The Rams have been a slow-motion train wreck since landing in LA (and before). The LA Times have been writing puff pieces about them ever since their arrival. But, who knows? Maybe Jared Goff really is the Rams' savior they have been reporting?
  13. I've had three surgeries on my left knee. I was training this last year for the LA Marathon, and sprained both knees in December while skiing. I was unable to train for three weeks. When I ran the marathon in March, both knees, including the one that has had three surgeries over the years, were fine.
  14. I think I know what you mean. There have been guys who were downright douchebags, but were at least douchebags with passion, and a modicum of football knowledge. I won't mention names, but I'm sure you could come up with a few. I just don't care for the stupidly rude insults. I'm never impressed with someone who confuses blithe, internet-cliched insult with debate.
  15. I have been browsing these boards, pretty much daily, since 2012. There have always been trolls, and malcontents. But, the tenor has declined significantly this year. Perhaps you have trouble recognizing civility?
  16. It's not, and that's what makes me sad. It has not yet started...
  17. There are posters on this site whose opinions I respect more than others, and many of them voted no. I'm not "fluffing" them (I'm sorry, but another childish observation), I was responding to someone who referred to them as "IDIOTS." I did so, not to defend the posters whom I respect, but to point out the idiocy, posted without a shred of irony, of making such a claim. I would also like to see a return to civility on this site, but that's really an afterthought.
  18. I don't know of a polite way of saying this. That is just a childish post.
  19. He said all the right things, and did all the right things, including playing through intense pain. But, if you'll never be convinced, then you'll never be convinced, I suppose.
  20. You may want to check the "view" results and see some of the posters you just called idiots.
  21. Do you think he was more of a diva than say, Odell Beckam?
  22. Think the Jets are going to trade away their first overall pick? To us?
  23. You would rather have Mathews over Sammy... why?
  24. Yeah, that second round pick should make all the difference.
  25. It's a brilliant move. Opposing teams won't know who to cover because all our receivers are so mediocre.
