I was a fan of Nate Peterman while he was throwing interceptions in Los Angeles, as he was the QB under center. That being said, I was heartily relieved when Taylor started the second half. If Peterman had started the following game, I would have been his fan then, too. But, I wouldn't have been happy about him starting. I'm cautiously optimistic about Allen. It's weird how polarized the usual suspect talking-head pundits seem to be about him. If I were to believe what they're saying (I don't), he's either going to be the next GOAT, or the next JaMarcus Russell. And after watching his game tape, I feel like I can see the valid points to both sides. My fear is that he lands somewhere in the middle, hangs around a little too long, and becomes as polarizing to the fan base as so many of our past quarterbacks have been. But, for now, I'm a fan.

If AJ McCarron plays great

Drafting a QB is pretty much like buying a new car. It depreciates in value as soon as you drive it off the lot. -

I agree with you on Tyrod. But, i have been watching Allen's game tape (posted by Domdb99- https://www.twobillsdrive.com/community/topic/205411-josh-allen-game-film-links/) and I have to say that Allen has a much better touch on the ball than I would have thought. Yes, he can rifle it. But, he often floated it when necessary. It should also be noted that he was playing with a less-than-stellar receiving corp in Wyoming. So, this will all be on Zay. Sad that we're hoping our current #2 can develop into a decent #2.

Bills UDFA signings & Rookie minicamp invitees
Rocky Landing replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I can only speak for myself, but I spent a lot of money on some good seats at Stubhub Stadium for that Chargers game, and I'm in no mood to forgive him for that horror show. It was embarrassing. And you're no longer allowed to bring in opaque bags. I just looked silly with that clear plastic bag over my head. It was painful to watch a half of literally historically bad football. And, in my opinion, the picks were not the only problem. He couldn't lead the team. In the second half of the Chargers game, after TT took over, they looked like a different team. And, I'm sorry, the Indy game is an outlier. It was a blizzard. The teams were fighting the elements more than each other. If Peterman somehow improves enough this offseason to last through the preseason, then good for him. But, the chances of him becoming a starter in the NFL look to me to be on par with Jeff Tuel. If you're going to use the ignore function on every poster with a steadfast opinion that doesn't mesh with yours, you're going to run out of conversations-- or at least interesting ones. KtD is a dedicated fan with a lot to say, and a high knowledge base. And, he's no where near the most obnoxious. Not even close. -

An OT with a track scholarship??? Just looked him up- he was a discus thrower. "Has good size, but lacks adequate athletic ability and pass protection talent to hold up as an NFL tackle," according to NFL.com draft profile. But, he didn't come to the U.S. as a football player, and doesn't have a much experience. Maybe this guy has potential? 6'7", but not a lot of numbers on the guy, otherwise. -
I was surprised by the Allen pick, but I don't hate it, and I like the way they got him. I wasn't happy about trading away more picks for Edmunds, but I love the player. I think he will be the only draftee that starts day one. That being said, I know most pundits listed LB as our second biggest concern after QB, but I disagree. I think O-line should have had a much higher priority in this draft, especially guard. And, I don't think any of our late-round WRs will make the 53. Which is depressing, considering how thin we are at WR.

Start Allen from Day 1/ QB competition

Allen already does a lot of scrambling, right? A trait for which Tyrod was often mocked on this site. IMO, a rookie starting too early is a great way to learn bad habits. But, if we don't fix our O-line, Allen may very well turn into a running QB, and have a lot of trouble fixing all the mechanics that every pundit has pointed out- footwork, accuracy, etc. -

Starting a rookie QB right out of the box is like putting a new V8 engine in your car, and red-lining it on its first start. It may end up fine, but it's also a good way of damaging a brand new engine. But, so were a lot of the defenses they were playing, no? -

What if no QB with first pick
Rocky Landing replied to mattstev's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If we can't negotiate a trade into top 5, and lose out on the top tier, I don't care if we don't get the best value at 12, as long as it's a QB. That's assessment is probably about 77% emotional. Maybe more. -
Best, Realistic Scenario For Getting Our Guy
Rocky Landing replied to Domdab99's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm finding it really hard to gauge where other teams are at. I try to think back to the vibe during past drafts where we still sucked at QB, but didn't draft one with our first. We didn't draft a QB with our first when Edwards was our QB. Now, we are utterly desperate for a QB, and everyone knows it. I don't think we have much of a poker face at this moment. -
I generally think that a BPA approach to the draft is smarter. But, this year is different. First pick should be BQBA. I think the next four picks after that should be BPA among OL, LB, and WR. If that is Ridley at 22, then so be it. But, I suspect it won't be. I would think that Billy Price, Isaiah Wynn, Roquan Smith, or Mike McGlinchey, would all be around Ridley's level on the Bill's draft board, and one or more could be available at 22. I could certainly see any one of them being considered before Ridley. I don't like the concerns that scouts have expressed regarding Ridley's durability, and I hope he's not Zay Jones 2.0. But, if he's the highest of those three positions at 22 (assuming we still have 22), then yeah, we should take him. But, I'm not in love with the idea.

It's important that we retain Peterman for training camp. Our defense needs practice catching the ball, too.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but this draft class also seems pretty slim at quality WR.
