  1. Here’s my take on this whole Davis thing. Prima Dona, pro-bowl CB who played opposite Andrew Luck, finds himself, at age 30, stuck with the lowly Bills, gets depressed, and quits at halftime. Screw his teammates, and all of Western New York. His ego just won’t take it. (And also, yes, the Bills are that bad.) Later on, I have to imagine that his agent calls him up screaming… (Screaming!)… and he accepts some version of an explanation that mentions God (one too many times, imo), and blames his overly competitive spirit, and maybe… just possibly… leaves the door open for some sort of career in the future. Vontae walked away from a boatload of money on Sunday. Let’s not miss the fact that his agent, that we might assume also has a family, lost quite a bit yesterday, as well. Good luck in your future endeavors, Vontae, you miserable, quitting sack of dogs**t.
  2. I think you're way off base here. There are honorable ways, and crappy ways to quit, just like the are honorable ways, and crappy ways to release a player. When the FO lets someone go in a way that disrespects the contributions the player has made to the organization, they are criticized for it. There are so many examples, it's not even worth elaborating. If this move by Davis isn't worthy of criticism, then I don't know what is.
  3. I hope he's invested wisely. It's a tough job market out there.
  4. Speak for yourself.
  5. Perhaps I have read the numbers wrong, but his guaranteed base salary in 2017 was $465,000, plus a $239,508 signing bonus, and his 2018 cash payout is $555,000, plus base salary. There's more to it, and I'd be lying if I said I understood it. But, his total contract worth is reported at over $2.6 million. Whatever. It really doesn't matter. Let's say he only made $500,000 over the last two years. He's 24 years old. Maybe I'd feel sorry for him if he had been good at what he does, like so many other NFL prospects who don't make it in the league. Or, if he had been good, but just hit a batch of bad luck. But, that is not the case. He stinks. On ice.
  6. Cowherd pretty much gets all of this right-- even the pronunciation of "Tyrod." The "Best for Last" segment was a little mean spirited, but so what? Peterman's career is, indeed, over. I'm pretty damn good at my job-- I've been doing it for over thirty years-- and I'm just solidly middle class. Peterman's made millions (right out of college!) doing something he truly sucks at. Call me cold-hearted, but if all Late Nate has to deal with is a little bit of ridicule, he can go ahead and cry himself all the way to the bank. He gets no sympathy from me.
  7. You can always train blue cheese.
  8. If we just keep losing, it would be a lateral move.
  9. Regardless of who starts, I will take the Chargers to beat that spread.
  10. Vontae's listed as starter on the official depth chart. https://www.buffalobills.com/team/depth-chart
  11. He can totally play, and has heart. But, apparently, he's also a penalty machine. That was also a bit disturbing when he rolled both his ankles. I don't believe it was on a hit, either. He did it to himself. TODD!!!
  12. Chris Ivory is not Reggie Bush, and he also doesn't need the reps that Murphy needs, imo. I think all three RBs are going to see the field this season, and which one is considered #2 may even change week to week. They both offer a lot. I've become an Ivory fan, frankly. Can't wait to see what he does.
  13. I'll give him cheers also for keeping his retorts civil, and friendly. There were some pretty interesting debates on this thread, and I will say that I learned a few things. These threads, where actual football is discussed, are the reason I frequent this site.
  14. I hope, and suspect not. If Nate's highest motivation is to shut people like me up (I admit that I have been fairly relentless regarding that miserable game), then I wouldn't have much hope for his focus on the field. Fortunately, however, from his interviews, and reports of his ethic in practice, it would seem that his focus is inward on himself, and improving to be the quarterback he needs to be. I have to believe that his performance on that day in Los Angeles weighs heavily on his mind. If he's using that experience in any way as motivation, let's hope that it is to create one of the most epic career turnarounds in NFL history, and not merely to shut up his detractors. Thankfully, all indications are to the former.
  15. Serious question: Is the life of an NFL defensive line coach really that taxing? What are the hours we're talking? Seems like a pretty good gig to me. I work on average 60+ hours a week. More if you include drive time. Wish I could watch my kids a little more!
  16. It would be an interesting transition. Has that ever happened before, where a player went from being a player to coach for the same team from one season the the very next?
  17. If a DB were to intercept a 60 yard bomb on fourth down, that DB would be a moron. If the game plan were to throw an intentional interception on third and long, the coach would be a moron.
  18. I predicted that Gerhard DeBeer would start an NFL game before Nate Peterman did (which is another way of saying that Nate Peterman would never start another NFL game). I was wrong. I have been intrigued by DeBeer's story, though, and I'm happy to see him on the PS.
  19. Guess I'll put this in the Mea Culpa thread.
  20. It's pretty hard to see a path to a winning season for me. 7-9 seems optimistic. 5-11 seems likely. 2-14 is not unlikely. But, by mid season, maybe we've turned it around? Maybe Allen starts to reach his potential, along with some of our skill positions? Maybe the O-line gels? Could happen.
  21. I don't really follow other teams as much as I'd like. So, the question that crosses my mind is: Who's worse?
  22. Yeah, totally disfunc... wait a minute... we’re the Bills!!!
  23. Not sure why this needed its own thread, as this topic has been discussed, ad nauseum, in the “Peterman Starts” thread. Be that as it may, if people refuse to forget that performance, it’s because that’s what happens when you make history.
