Well, of course. But, my point really is that even Proehl made his mark for the five minutes he was here. McCloud continues to be a fan favorite over a year after he was drafted (and, he is not yet gone, btw), Siran Neal, and Wyatt Teller are both considered reasonable depth, and may very well make the 53 this season, Taron Johnson is competing for nickel, and is likely to make the 53, Phillips is quality depth who is expected to make the 53, and could be assumed to have not reached his ceiling, and our first two picks, Allen and Edmunds are locks to start. None of that is homerism. That is a reasonable assessment of the 2018 draft, and it doesn't even include two UDFAs who are close to locks on the 53. Add a bunch of cynicism to that assessment, and it still adds up to a pretty damn good draft-- all in hindsight.

I think he was fairly average. He started all last season, and they ran what, on paper at least, looks like a more effective version of Rex's hybrid defensive scheme. He didn't get a lot of sacks, but a lot of press coverage, and a fair amount of tackles.

Except that it's not time to move on. We are too thin at DE for that. That time will be at the end of the season, when his contract is up, and we can address the position. And, that's assuming that his season goes about the same as it did last season. Or, maybe it doesn't? Is it conceivable that Lawson has not reached his ceiling, that he has a great season, and we decide to keep him? It could happen.

Because he was undrafted?

I'm hoping that in the not-too-distant future, the Bills playing the Raiders in Vegas. It will be epic, even if I won't be able to remember it.

Wait a minute, now... 2018: Round #1 Josh Allen Tremaine Edmunds Round #3 Harrison Phillips Round #4 Aaron Johnson Round #5 Siran Neal Wyatt Teller Round #6 Ray Ray McCloud Round #7 Austin Proehl Even as recent as it is, you'd have to be pretty cynical to call that a terrible draft.

QB Passer Rating Vs. Aggressiveness %
Rocky Landing replied to Mango's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's rare to see someone devote so much space, time, and effort into straw-man arguments. -
To be fair, though, all of those guys, with the exception of Listenbee, are currently on an NFL team.

QB Passer Rating Vs. Aggressiveness %

(Assuming you're talking about Peterman) I feel like I watched defending CBs giving our WRs an extra step, or two of separation, literally baiting him to throw long. -
QB Passer Rating Vs. Aggressiveness %

To some degree, in the context of the 2018 Bills, "aggressiveness" could also translate to "trust." It will be interesting to see how Allen's "aggressiveness" increases with John Brown, and Cole Beasley on the field. I would also be interested to know how that stat changed during last season with the addition of McKenzie, and the other changes to our receiving corp. That's a fair point. IMO, these sorts of metrics should be used more to provide context, and less to draw conclusions. At the very least, a stat like this needs to be looked at in context. -
Expect to see a different Trent Murphy in 2019
Rocky Landing replied to HOUSE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's a gamble, but maybe not such a huge one. I think a lot of fans are unwilling to account for the effects of injury. They become "excuses" for poor play, instead of "reasons." Murphy is only 28-- far from over the hill. Obviously, he was recovering from, and playing through injury last season. His production before that was stellar. So, the question become: Is he injury prone, or is he fully recovered? Fans tend to be far more apt to assume injury prone, and less willing to accept the possibility of recovery. Also, I don't see that there has been a lot of opportunity to improve Murphy's position, so far. Ansah has his own (more current) injury issues, and was likely too expensive. And I don't know of any later round picks that would have been better than what we already have. Maybe there will be an opportunity in the coming months to trade for someone dominant (we can dream of Clowney?), but Murphy at 100% isn't someone we have seen in a Bills uni, other than in these last OTAs, which don't show us much for defensive linemen. I think this is a guy that will be exciting to see once the pads come on. -
Josh Allen: Film Review From a Cynical Man
Rocky Landing replied to Mikie2times's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm actually one of the people who apparently "can't stick to simple discussion" and have been put on ignore by Ronin, but that won't stop me from pointing out some of his intellectually dishonest crap. The explanations in the game he time-tagged were so biased, it was laughable. In the very first play he "analyzes" (quotation marks necessary) he opines that Allen "immediately defaults to looking downfield," rather than immediately throwing to Shady (whom he had just faked a handoff to!). Allen then avoids a sack, as he has a DT bearing down on him, and he is able to throw the ball away. For Ronin to say Allen "immediately defaults to looking downfield," is another way of saying "immediately defaults to running the play that was called." Like I said-- this guy is intellectually dishonest. He'll use conflicting arguments from one post to the next, he'll cherry pick stats, he'll move the goal posts in his arguments (example: "name for me one player that never, and I do mean never, read defenses very well either in HS or college"). And, more than anything, he wants you to know that he knows more about football than anyone here ("You won't find anyone here that's done more research on any of the players that I've opined on then me.") And, if you don't like it, he'll write you a nice, overly-long, condescending response that ends with him telling you not to bother responding, because he has put you on ignore. I'm happy to belong to that club.
