I'm not disappointed to see Long between Morse, and Bodine at center. I wonder, though, who will be there on Thursday?

There's going to be eleven guys on the field on every special teams play. So far, we've only heard a handful of names. But, considering how lousy our ST play was last season, I have to assume that there will be a concerted focus on ST this season.

We haven't really seen much about who is participating in ST. I feel like this could be the difference in how many WRs we carry. This seems to be less likely as TC has progressed. McD/Beane certainly seem to value him. I'm not sure how Daboll views him.

I just read that Brady's* extension frees up about $5.5 mil in cap space, which puts them in a position to go after Trent Williams, if Washington is willing to trade him. The Pats* O-line could definitely fall to average this season, and that would be very bad for Brady*, and the Pats*. I have to believe that they are actively looking to upgrade that unit. If nothing else, they are thin at depth. As soon as this author referred to "Roger Goodell’s tyrannical suspension in 2016" for having been caught cheating, I could not read any further.

I could see the Pats* going after him. They're thin at the O-line, and just freed up some cap space.

I think at this point in time, we need to game plan for their O-line as much as for Brady*. Take away Brady’s* protection, and, at 42, he will fall apart. This is why they are relying more, and more on their running game.

Hopefully, this soaks up more of their cap space. And, maybe it makes it even less likely they can get their hands on somebody like Trent Williams, whom I think may be out of their price range. Although, I did just read that their RT, Marcus Cannon, just restructured his deal to provide more cap space. If they lose even one of their starting O-line, Brady* could be in serious trouble. They have always had a stellar O-line protecting Brady*, and this year is no different. But, Isaiah Wynn, listed as their starting LT, lost his entire rookie season to a torn achilles, and their thin beyond all their starters. And we do know that Brady* can be rattled with consistent pressure.

If memory serves me correctly, Beane has offhandedly mentioned in a couple different interviews the possibility of only keeping five WRs. I don't see how that would be the case at this point, but I suspect the possibility for seven is slim. You've mentioned this before, but I'm not sure there is enough of a sample size to really establish that. Could it be that in the past couple years, production in preseason games have basically confirmed McD's opinions going in?

Drew Lock looks like he could be the real deal. Scanned the field well, checked down when he needed to. Didn't seem to stare anyone down-- eye always moving. LOTS of dropped balls on both side, including a couple by Fant (although, at least one of them was a Drew Lock rifle to his chest from about seven yards). The Falcons have a decent O-line, and blocking. Their TEs, WRs, and RBs all chip pretty well. Seems they always have one or two players chip blocking, which gave their backup QB, Benkert the ability to step up into the pocket to extend the play. Not that it did him much good... Broncos have a couple shorty running backs that look pretty good, but are pretty far down their depth chart-- Khalfani Muhammad, and Devontae Jackson, both 5'7", and (I think?) both rookies, had a decent game. What the hell-- It's preseason, but it's football!

Does anyone still think Yeldon will be on this team? He's gotta be an afterthought at this point.

Sirles was not good. He was versatile, I suppose... But, below average at two, or more positions is still not good.

He had a lot of buzz at the time, and a certain number of fans were really high on him. I'm guessing Promo was one of them.

When I was a kid, I had a really hard time watching Gilligan's Island. My problem was that I was too empathetic. Every time I would see Gilligan start to screw up, I would get an almost physical reaction. I would see him lined up to do something really stupid, or inept, and it would make me squirm. I hated watching that show, but I couldn't tear my eyes away. Nate Peterman.

Is there a knock on Duke being able to get open? I don't believe that is an issue. And while he is big, and physical, I don't believe the term "lumbering," which some have used, is accurate, either.

Am I alone in thinking that McKenzie, and McCloud are a little small for the role of gunners?

You're either underestimating the importance of culture, or you're not understanding how a winning culture is built. Do you think that the comraderie that is being developed between the Bills' players is meaningless? How to you think McD has gone about building that culture? Everything coming together, and winning is a result of effective scheming, planning, execution on the field, and without a doubt, building a winning culture. How the team acts "in the locker room" (to use a cliche) absolutely effects production on the field. That culture starts at the top. What the coaches say to their team matters.

Quote: "The DL is dropping guys into coverage now and then, looking more and more exotic. This is good unless they try and get too cute." This gave me horrid flashbacks to the dreadful Rex Ryan schemes that ruined a perfectly good defense. I remember Jerry Hughs hopelessly running after Gronk, and me screaming at the the TV in a crowded yuppie bar in Burbank, "WHAT THE F*** ARE YOU DOING???" It was a bad look for the defense, and for me. Someone talk me down.

I have a suspicion that one of the main reasons for McCoy avoiding the media, and the lingering question of his poor numbers last season, is that he wants to avoid talking smack about his team. It's an unanswerable question for him. His lack of production is either about him, and/or the lack of talent on the O-line. You can't ask him to put the entire onus of such a crappy season on his own shoulders, only, without begging the question of why he is still here. There is no good answer for him to feed to the media.
