  1. Not for nothing, in the first two weeks of this season, we faced two of the top backs in the league.
  2. Well, they'll get plenty of chances. After two weeks, the Pats* have scored 76 points, and allowed 3. I don't imagine the Jets time of possession is going to be particularly long.
  3. Could something like a pass rush be the one, last vestige of the Jets that had so many predicting a playoff birth just a few weeks ago? of course, the Jets have no prayer of winning on Sunday. But, could they perhaps rattle Brady* a little and give him an unpleasant day? Could he enter New Era Field the weekend after next with some amount of trepidation? i honestly can’t remember seeing a team with playoff aspirations disintegrate as quickly as the Jets have this season. Be that as it may, perhaps they have enough fire and anger in them to make Brady* miserable this Sunday?
  4. If that one drop had anything to do with him “losing confidence,” then that drop was not the issue. Be that as it may, Zay has not appeared to be what he was predicted to be out of college, and that is not out of the ordinary.
  5. So he can get a beat down in the shower?
  6. I've been thinking this for a while: We need a real playmaker in a skill position on offense. We’re beautifully deep, as a football team. Our offensive skill positions are consistent. But, we just don't have a marquee player (other than Josh!) on offense-- someone who Josh can throw to in tight coverage, and they'll come down with the ball. Smoke Brown is almost that player, but not quite.
  7. In all likelihood, the Patriots* will have over 100 net points after three weeks.
  8. Zay had two drops today that, IMO, stemmed from his limited catch radius. After returning from the offseason with 15 lbs of added muscle, I was hopeful that would improve, but it has not. If, after the thousands of balls Zay has caught, that element of his game has not improved, it's hard to imagine how it ever will. I strongly suspect Zay has reached his ceiling.
  9. A few thoughts: The QB sweep for our first TD was brilliant play calling. The G-men had a hard time defending us after that play. The Offensive play calling was great all around. Well balanced attack that spread the Giant's D thin. Defensive play calling was also spot on. They adjusted after the first Giants' drive for the TD, and contained Barkley Murphy was excellent, as was Harrison Phillips. The Bills are disciplined. They stay focused, no turnovers, few penalties. So nice to see. Josh Allen is proving himself, big time!
  10. Harry Phillips was damned good. Siran Neal was our best STer. Beasley was as advertised. Poyer... dude is dangerous!
  11. He could arm wrestle Sills V for a roster spot.
  12. I think that we using 21 personnel so much vs. the Jets shows how weak their secondary was, and the value McD places on DiMarco, and the inexperience of our TEs.
  13. If the Bills don't lose this game, Daboll should be fired!
  14. I believe Zay’s route running is one of his strengths.
  15. Seems a little inconsistent, Roger. I wouldn't argue for a suspension, but not fining him has the odor of bias. It's hard to argue that the tape doesn't show an intentionally illegal hit. Other players have been fined for less. Pretty disappointing.
  16. It's really a pretty incredible story. I've been a fan of his since his signing. I really haven't processed how this affects my opinion of him. When Ty finally retires a millionaire, he should find a high-end ghost writer to sit down with him and write his autobiography. I'd certainly read it.
  17. Yep. It’s out there. The refs missed it (because Hank was crawling out of view of the ref), but the NFL should fine him. And the media should press Cheapo Greggo on the topic.
  18. Such a Billsy concept.
  19. Let me help you— she is.
  20. The bottom line for both these players, IMO, is that they are both playing much better this year than last. Murphy, as advertised, is healthy, and it shows. Shaq has steadily gotten better every season. What a great problem to have. But, I suspect that at least one of these guys will not be a Bill next season, and if he keeps playing the way he is, it will probably be Shaq. I wish we had picked up his fifth year option.
  21. I was actually rather appalled at the offensive play calling in the first half. I was thinking at the time that it looked like a preseason game where they were evaluating the passing game, and not doing much to game plan for the defense they were facing. And, I think that certainly contributed to a 16 point deficit in the first half. When they came back out, the adjustment was made, and we ran a far more balanced offense, and it showed. It's a lot harder to defend against a balanced attack. I suspect that had we run a balanced game plan in the first half, Singletary may not have had such a huge YPC, as the Jets did not match our adjustment But I think he would have had more yards for the game, and we would have won the game more handily.
  22. You have to put at least some of this on Gregg Williams, and the culture he creates. Does someone do this and not understand that their own coaches are going to see it? But, if this is the culture Gregg Williams creates, I have to wonder how it affects the rest of the defense's play? I've always been of the opinion that culture matters as much as talent. If the culture in the Jets D is "win any way you can," and rewards dirty play, think of what that takes away from the defense's culture. How much pride is removed in that culture? How much do players care about each other in that atmosphere? And, how much trust exists in such an atmosphere?
  23. I've always thought there was a bias towards QBs who were exceptionally mobile. It happened with Tyrod, and also Vick on a regular basis. I think the bias may come from the fact that a mobile quarterback becomes a runner so frequently (at which time, the special protections for QBs are gone), that they don't look at them in the same context.
  24. So true. A lot of hay was made about how this line would "gel." Last year, that play would never have made it out of training camp. They ran some really nice screens in preseason, also. I hope we get to see some of that vs. the Giants.
  25. In preseason, the offense ran some absolutely picture-perfect screens. I don't think they ran a single one vs. the Jets. I hope they run some more designed plays like that vs. the Giants, and balance the pass/run ratio a little better.
