This has all been said in other threads, and I'm not sure why this hasn't been merged. But, Zay has issues with dropped passes, has poor hands, doesn't highpoint the ball, doesn't contest the ball, has poor situational awareness (doesn't see the defenders around him, and adjust accordingly), and has a woefully limited catch radius. The best thing that can be said about him is that he's versatile, and has a comprehensive route tree, But, for all his versatility, he is mediocre, at best, at all of it, with the possible exception of blocking. And, I don't really hear anyone crowing about his leadership, either. In the draft, he was sold as being "the most NFL-ready" WR in his class, with super reliable hands. That turned out to not be true. And, personally, I look at his play, and his progression through his time in Buffalo, and I suspect that he very well might be about at his ceiling. All of this adds up to someone who does not offer enough, and who will make costly mistakes. And, compound that with the frustration that some feel is a wasted opportunity having Duke Williams on the PS, (I am included in that crowd) who could fill Zay's role without so many limitations, and you can understand why so many want him gone.

I'm not particularly astute, but I'll admit that I was scratching my head at the signing. Happy to say I was wrong.

The Duke Williams Bandwagon Post

I’ll take your word that Allen missed Zay three times, although I don’t know which plays you’re referencing. But, it’s completely beside the point. It doesn’t change who Zay is (or isn’t, as the case may be). -

Another straw man argument. But, I’ll say this: I’m not ready to move on from Allen. I certainly am ready to move on from Zay. -

You’re a total Zay apologist! That throw to Beasley wasn’t even a drop, it hit the turf out of his reach! Seriously! Straw man argument. Allen stunk today. I have not stated otherwise. -

Neither Brown nor Beasley have a problem with dropped balls. Zay has a problem with dropped balls. Do you dispute this? -

You will deny this, but you are a Zay apologist. -

He's not as slow as people make him out to be. He gets judged by his combine numbers, which were terrible. But, he had gone about four months without playing a snap of football, or practicing with a team. His life was at a downward spiral at that time. But, if you watch him on the practice field now, he sure doesn't look any slower than Zay. -
Zay Jones blocking ability - I’m impressed
Rocky Landing replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Jones will not contest the ball, including on one of Allen's interceptions. Jones, with a defender between him and Allen, ran deep with his arms low to catch it around his hip. The interception is still on Allen, but a better receiver would have cut in to at least try to get above the defender. It's as if Jones is not seeing the defenders around him. And today he was not getting separation. He's a liability, at this point. -
And, for those keeping track: 249 yards away from passing Barry Sanders as the third, all-time rusher.

This was a terrible game by Allen. Didn't see the field, or some wide open receivers. But, he still had flashes of what most see as high potential. But, I wonder how long he will be out? That was a brutal hit, and he looked like he was out cold. Any word? -

I was really warming to Jones after last week. This week, I'm sorely disappointed. He will not contest the ball. Even on one of Allen's interceptions, Jones, with a defender between him and Allen, ran deep with his arms low to catch it around his hip. The interception is still on Allen, but a better receiver would have run higher, and at least tried to get over the defender. It's like he doesn't even see the defenders around him. -

Allen might be out for a while. He looked out cold after the hit. -

Duke makes the contested catch. Zay does not. Zay hasn't gotten separation today. Even in one of Allen's interceptions, Zay is running deep, with a defender on him, to catch it on his hip. Duke would have at least tried to get over the defender. -

Duke Williams would have made that catch. -
Two kinds of people in this world: Those who feel better about themselves when they make others feel good, and those who feel better about themselves when they make others feel bad. (It's clear who you are.) Honestly, I've never understood the latter. But, if you really want to succeed in your endeavor, here's a hint: try not to be so transparent about it. As it is, no one on here will take you seriously. (Unless, you are trying to elicit sympathy, in which case, HUZZAH!)

Bills QB Josh Allen becoming a must-watch player
Rocky Landing replied to MJS's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm going to have to disagree with you. I have lived in Los Angeles for 28 years now (born, and raised in Rochester), and I generally hear football fans talking more about Allen than any other QB from his class. Last season, it was all about Mayfield, and Darnold, in that order. This season it's about Allen, and Jackson, and how much Mayfield is crapping the bed. In that order. Not many people talking about Jones, or Murray, for that matter. That is my observation from the West Coast. You've had a different experience, and I know there's several LA folks on this site, and perhaps they have a different experience, also. -
My brother lives in Boston and had a pretty funny story about the office he was working in when the Pats* lost in the Super Bowl to Eli Manning, and the Giants. That was the year the Pats* entered the SB undefeated. The people in my brother's office were so cocky, and arrogant, they actually had a pool going to predict how much the Pats* would win by. The Monday after, the office was so despondent, you could hear a pin drop.

Rex Ryan takedown: Baker Mayfield version
Rocky Landing replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I actually like Rex Ryan, as Rex Ryan. I suspect he has found his niche as a professional blow-hard pundit. How I don’t like Rex Ryan is as a head coach. What I dispise Rex Ryan as is as the Bills head coach.
