Conventional wisdom holds that rain decreases passing efficiency in numerous ways, including limiting the WR's ability to cut, making it harder for a QB to maintain a tight spiral, and harder for receivers to grip the ball. Faster thrown balls are harder to catch when they're wet. Grass fields, especially will cause route runners to lose traction making it harder to adjust to the ball. There are stats that back up these concepts.

I think the rain could play to our favor in this game, shortening the field a bit, and bringing our corners closer to the LOS, and also causing both teams to run more. This could be a big game for Motor. But also, we now have three WRs with exceptionally reliable hands in Smoke, Cole, and Duke (assuming Duke plays). This may not be the game where Allen dials in the long bombs, but some of Daboll's gadget plays could hit big.

I think once he went down with the injury, that probably ended his targets for the day. Pretty amazing, though, that he still came back in to block, considering how much pain he was clearly in when it happened. The guy is tough.

Week 8 Bills (-1.5) vs Eagles
Rocky Landing replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Last Sunday vs. the Dolphins, TE Gesicki really seemed to be the biggest thorn in our side from their offense. The Bills will really have to have an answer for the Eagles REs, especially in 2 TE sets. -

First Time I have been concerned with Josh Allen
Rocky Landing replied to PlayoffsPlease's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Allen's pattern seems to be, every week, to start slow, and finish strong. That's not the worst thing. But, for those feeling concerned with him, go back and watch some of his last season's performances (if you have the means). And, try to remember the knocks on him, and how they have changed this season. Remember how many were knocking his accuracy, last season? His poor decision making? His inability to complete the short throws? How he couldn't lead his receivers? How he wouldn't throw until he saw his target get open, or turn to receive the ball? How he was too quick to flee the pocket? These are all things he has improved upon. Remember how he was considered a "raw prospect" coming out of college? Does anyone think he has reached his ceiling? And, we should not forget how poorly the coaching staff handled his rookie season. Listen to us! "Dang... what's up with all these fourth quarter comebacks...???" -
The Dolphins were a balanced team yesterday. You really have to appreciate Flores-- even as they have been taking players out from under him, he has his team getting a little better every week. I was thinking yesterday after halftime that Daboll had adjusted really well (which does seem to be one of his strengths), and the Phins hadn't really adjusted at all. But, then again, how much can you adjust at halftime with that personnel? The Miami FO is tanking, but Flores is not. He's the real deal, IMO, and I hope he gets rewarded after being the front man to a crap show this season.

As I recall, this was one of the positives on him from his draft scouting reports-- that he finished blocks, not just stopping guys, but running them backwards, often past the whistle.
-
Did he have more than one? The one I remember-- and I am going to rewatch the game today-- Ford wrapped the guy up. Not a crap call at all from what I remember. This has been my impression, as well. I noticed him getting beat more than once. But, I also saw him run like a snow plow on a couple run plays.

Postgame: Dolphins 21 at Bills 31
Rocky Landing replied to Do The Reich Thing's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Ford did a few things right today. But, mostly he was terrible-- especially in the first half. Morse is worth the money. Knox was a liability today. Bad penalties, and two horrible dropped passes that really cost us. Someone mentioned during the game thread that Hughes was invisible. That was sorta true in the first half, but it sure wasn't in the second! Bojo almost had me fooled during the Titans game that he may not be terrible. Not today. I still have faith in Allen. But, as many have said, I sure would like to see "Second Half" Allen play in the first half. -
After today's win vs. Miami, Gore now needs 134 yards to pass Barry Sanders as third all-time rushing leader.

It wasn't. And he dropped two passes that he absolutely should have had. Both those drops cost us. -
