I can understand why he would say that. I've been watching all of last season's Vikings games on Game Pass to get a bead on Diggs, and so I sort of end up retroactively rooting for them (if that makes any sense). And, I have to say, Cousins is one helluva frustrating QB. There are games where he is dead-on accurate, and his decision-making, reads, etc is really good. But, then there will be games where he's all over the field. He doesn't handle pressure well, and once he's out of the pocket, he's useless. I could well imagine that the crowds (especially when there are a lot of opposing team's fans, like when they hosted the Bills ?) would have a tendency to rattle him. EDIT: I can also sort of see why Diggs was so frustrated there. The play calling seemed to diminish as the season progressed, especially in regards to Diggs. Often, he would be out there only as a decoy, on very specific design plays, but the defenses would read it and only put single coverage on him. It became pretty frequent in the second half of the season where Diggs would be under single man coverage, with no chance of getting the ball thrown to him. In the last few games, you would, as often as not, see him essentially jog off the LOS.

I don't remember where I saw the interview, but Beane was recently asked about the issues with the limited scouting protocols, and his comments very much contradict your comment, here. In one of the more humorous anecdotes he talked about how even the guys who picked up prospects from the airport would be questioned about their attitudes, and comments they might make on the drive to the facility. I think, especially with Beane, character matters, and learning how someone acts when they aren't in an interview is important to him.

Why I believe the Bills will trade up in the second: Lower round draft picks have a lower value for the Bills than they do for other teams. It's not unlikely that none of our draft picks will start in week one, whereas many other teams have starting position needs. (Last season, our first three picks started week one.) This swings the value of a later round pick towards trade capital for the Bills. I suspect that the limited scouting protocols have likely resulted in fewer players that Beane/McD are exceptionally high on. Likely, there are many more question marks on their board than normal. So, by the second round, the number of players they have as a high priority will be significantly diminished. As other teams have the same scouting issues, it perhaps becomes more likely that a player that Beane sees as a first round talent falls to the second round. Beane has a consistent record of trading up in the draft. I would like to hear other thoughts on this.

To trade up into the first round would require more than the value of our 2020 draft pics. Such a trade would have to include either higher round 2021 draft pics, or current players. Neither would seem to be worth it, especially considering this season's limited scouting protocols. Personally, IMO, I would be surprised if he didn't trade up in the second. I don't feel like later round picks, this season, have as much value for the Bills, as they do for most other teams. Later round picks this season will be lucky to make the practice squad. I also have a suspicion that this is one reason Beane is in favor of the proposed ten round draft, as those additional picks equal more trade capital.

Christian Wade, anyone?

I would bet that he does.

Are you still of the mind that Beane isn't going to trade up in the second?

Interesting Player Starting to Slide

If it came down to it, I would hope we would take Terrell Lewis over Shenault. As it stands, I would be more surprised if Lewis fell to 54 than Shenault. I also wouldn't be surprised if Beane traded up in the second, potentially for Lewis. -
Is Josh Allen really a franchise QB?

This is a troll post, IMO. It has no real point (other than stirring up the pot), and has been discussed in many other threads. -
Maybe someone could figure out how to combine this with a burning, folding table?

For those into distance running, 23mph is a 2:36 mile. A four minute mile is 15mph.

Karlos Williams making a comeback

Of course we want people to be real. Sometimes, they turn out to be real idiots. -
I dispute with the notion that we overpaid for Diggs. Consider this: Last season, our first, second, and third draft picks started the season, week one. Our fourth pick started week five. I think every single pick made the final roster at some point, and saw the field during the season. That makes those late round picks valuable. THIS SEASON, those late round picks will be lucky to make the practice squad, and barring significant preseason injury, it is highly unlikely that we will have a single rookie starting the season. Those late round picks that were added to the first round pick for Diggs have a lot less value for the Bills than they would for other teams at this point. Look also at the history of expectations for WR draftees-- Watkins and Jay Jones come to mind. We paid a king's ransom for Watkins, a player that every pundit said was going to be elite, and what did he become? A solid #2. Jones was billed as "the most NFL-ready WR in his draft." It would be an understatement to say that didn't turn out to be true. The moral of the story here is that WR is one of the riskier skill positions to draft, right up there with QB. It's very hard to predict how well a college WR is going to transition into the NFL. Add to this Diggs' reasonable contract, and the fact that he is a proven, elite receiver in the NFL. So, consider Diggs our first round pick, and Beane did a great job.

With 50:1 odds, I can see how it's an attractive bet. If Allen improves along the same curve he improved from year one to year two, and the O-line improves, and with the addition of Diggs, and a decent #2 RB? A $5,000 return on a $100 stake? That's a good bet! EDIT: I'll certainly take that bet over 18:1 with Brady* in Tampa!

Hard Knocks 2020: LA Rams/LA Chargers
Rocky Landing replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not only film crews, but all the gear, equipment, and infrastructure, as well. There's an enormous amount of production that goes into a reality show. I've worked on a few, and even the smaller one have a dozen, or so cameras. Hell's Kitchen had over 60. -
I'm actually really looking forward to this draft. For one thing, it will be the first one in quite a few years I won't be working on days one, and two. But, I'm also really interested to see how they cover it. I've always been pretty bored by the location coverage of various screaming fans, and pretty much everything that happens on the stage itself. The whole "gala" atmosphere is a snore, if you ask me. Not watching the creepy "Goodell Hug" is a bonus, also. I expect to see a lot more tape on the players being drafted, and hopefully whatever format they land on should be a little more educational, and a little less faux-glamor schlock.
