Joe Brady has changed the season's expectations
Rocky Landing replied to Inigo Montoya's topic in The Stadium Wall
It’s entirely plausible that the Fish, Jets, and Pats* could ALL be looking for a head coach at the end of the season. -
We need a guy who will catch everything thrown his way, and have the athleticism to get some great YAC. Someone who can work the entire field, and consistently get open. A guy that no one thinks can run to the boundary, but has actually done it numerous times. Someone that Josh can develop some real chemistry with, and become his leading WR, but still somehow fly under the radar. Wish we had a guy like that...

Elite.
-
There's a big difference, though. Neither of those players lead their teams in targets. Vele has been inactive since week one (injured, I assume?).
-
It's unreal. How long does he do this before he starts getting mentioned as one of the elite receivers in the league? When do we get to start talking about him as elite? I'll just go ahead and say it: Khalil Shakir is elite.
-
I want to reiterate something I pointed out in the post-game thread: Khalil Shakir is our leading receiver with 14 targets. Out of those 14 targets, he has made 14 receptions for a completion percentage of 100%, three games in. I haven't seen that mentioned anywhere in the media, and I'm not going to go through 31 other teams to get their receiving stats, but I kinda doubt that there is another receiver in the league who has done that.

I was thinking something similar-- that it was great to have such an extended period of garbage time (almost an entire half!) to get some of the depth players out there, getting snaps in a real game. Bishop, Andreesen, Solomon, and quite a few others got some quality game time. They even had Codrington at CB. That's valuable for our depth.

Week 3 Thursday Night Football Pats/Jets
Rocky Landing replied to Scott7975's topic in The Stadium Wall
Rodgers has a long history of disrespecting his HC. He used to openly swear at Mike McCarthy from the field. I remember Rodgers yelling ," you're f******g stupid!" on SNF. That's likely why he loves OC Nate Hackett-- he'll answer to Rodgers before he answers to Saleh. The Jets have a culture problem. -

Patriots* O-line is such a disaster. -

I met Aaron Rodgers once on an ESPN gig, and I thought he was a pretty cool guy. But, man... he really looks like a dick here... -
Universally recognized as owning the rudest fanbases for every sport played there. Do you really need an explanation for the asterisk in the spelling of the Patriots*?
-
I think the best explanation for it is that he missed.

Non Bill, unheralded, under the radar favorite player.

Marshal Lynch after he left Buffalo. Didn’t much like him when he was a Bill, tho… -
Strange thing I noticed about Mike McDaniel
Rocky Landing replied to steven50's topic in The Stadium Wall
McDaniel's "genius innovative system" didn't change the game of football any more that Clif Kingsbury's Air Raid system did, when the Cardinals brought him over with the drafting of Murray. McDaniel was exposed by midseason last year, and they've done nothing to change, or adapt their identity. I've also lost a lot of respect for McDaniel as a coach, and a teammate for the way the Fish have handled Tua. (Chris Grier, also.) They've known as well as anybody Tua's risk of concussion, and yet allowed their already crappy O-line to take a step backwards over the offseason. Their negligence is disgusting. I know that Tua's latest injury was not a direct result of having no O-line, but a moderate hit to a 190lb safety causing that fencing response really highlights how irresponsible it is for the Fish to have so little protection for Tua in the trenches. Designing a system where Tua gets rid of the ball as fast as possible is not an adequate substitute for a competent O-line. I very much hope there is an injury settlement being negotiated behind the scenes, or Tua's brain is going to end up a bowl of mashed potatoes. -
IDK, bears fans have suffered long and hard. It'd be nice for them to have some hope.

Seahawks up on the Patriots*. I gotta say, though-- the Pats* don't look like a dumpster fire.

Sam Darnold to Justin Jefferson!

Watching the Chargers @ Carolina game. Bryce Young looks like a shrimp out there. Jim Harbough looks like an old guy on meds.

Social media after a Bills win makes everything better
Rocky Landing replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall
That fan base is collectively losing their minds. -
Turned out it was a fake Shefter account.

Loved seeing all those empty seats in the third quarter. Loved seeing an adjusted offensive game plan from week one. Would have liked to see some more of Coleman, but shifting focus to different receivers from one week to the next is what's going to make this offense effective. Loved that the same can be said for the defense, albeit more out of necessity. On offense, and defense, McD and co. adjusted to their players' strengths, and their opponents' strengths/weaknesses. Some of the best coaching I can remember seeing from this crew. They have not reached their ceiling. Loved seeing Ingram ascend so decisively. Loved watching Shakir. He's consistently exciting to watch, and has become one of my favorite players. Loved being wrong on several players, including Cam Lewis, Von Miller, Baylon Spector, and David Edwards. (Wish I could be wrong on Tyler Bass...) HATED seeing what happened to Tua. I also learned that I despise Mike McDaniel, and Chris Grier. It is disgusting how they have handled Tua. Developing a scheme in which Tua gets the ball out of his hands as fast as humanly possible is not a responsible alternative to providing a concussion-prone QB with a competent O-line. But, that's what they did-- completely ignored an already crappy O-line that had clearly become worse in the offseason. And the way they handled his injuries in '22, clearly putting him back on the field too early was evil. I'm not even sure how that could have played out, considering the concussion protocols in place at the time, but we all saw it happen. Seeing McDaniel kiss Tua on the side of his head, as he was walking off the field for likely the last time in his career filled me with a quiet rage.

Squished, the fish were. Under no circumstances should Tua continue to play. Sucks to be a Dolphins fan. Hamlin with an utterly clean hit. Imploding is the best description for the '24 Fish.
