Joe B article on why we need to go SS and my response
peterpan replied to boyst's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
FWIW Matt Elam is a stud of a safety. I dont know why Vaccaro gets so much attention. As a Horns fan, its possible to watch an entire game and not remember if he even was playing. Matt Elam on the other hand, made seemingly every play that made it 5 yards past the line of scrimmage. If there was a big hit from a DB coming down, it was Matt Elam. Forced fumble? Matt Elam. The dude is a baller. Maybe its because he is short, but we should not pass him over, even if we were set at Safety. Internet mocks, which aren't reliable at all. have him going in the 2nd for the most part. If he is there for our 2nd rounder, you would be hard pressed to find a player who will have more positive impact on a game. All of that is fact and not my opinion :-) -
5 Future Pro-Bowlers from the 2012 Draft
peterpan replied to MDH's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I dont want to be pissing in anyone's cereal, but did you guys see who was playing QB in the Cards game? I think that had a lot more to do with Fitzgeralds bad day than Gilmore. He also had a ton of PI calls. He is good, but not super shut down good. I think Milner is going to be very good. If it plays out the way Kiper has in in his latest mock (no link, saw it on ESPN earlier) I would take Milner or trade back -

Quite honestly, I dont think Buddy knows what he is talking about. -
Less than 2 weeks till the draft, your pick at #8
peterpan replied to Kellyto83TD's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I have wanted Ansah all offseason, but now all the internet mocks say he could go 1st or 2nd overall. I sure hope not, I want him at 8. If we cant get him then Id like to trade back. If we dont trade back Id go for Dion Jordan I guess. Or I might just sack up and take Nassib at 8 and hope hes good. -
He is the best option that I see out there. Yes, WE ARE THAT BAD.

Buffalo one of the 5 weakest rosters
peterpan replied to benderbender's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Regarding the salary cap, I think it comes back to the bills being bad. For example, if you are an NFL starter, you want to be paid like an NFL starter. The Starters on the Bills though would be backups on half of the other teams in the league, if not 3/4s. But still, since they are starters, we pay them like that. So because we cant draft and constantly suck, we get stuck paying backup quality players starting salaries. For a while, Kelsay was the 2nd best DE on the team. That is such a sad and sorry statement but its true. So guess what, he was paid like a starting LDE, who was the 2nd best DE on his team, even thought he should ave earned a third of what he was making. -
National Savings Rate: American Idiots
peterpan replied to Dean Cain's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
There are more things people demand these days and our standard of living hasnt increased accordingly. Ditch the cell phone and cable TV and Internet (they didnt even exist a few years ago) and thats 200 bucks a month, or 2400 a year. Thats 4% of a 60k salary. Add that to what people are saving today and its closer to historical averages. -
Is he from New Orleans? The Buffalo Beales PS: That should totally be the name of the NOLA Bills Backers club or whatever
-
I like the trading back idea always. But I hink Ziggy Ansah is going to be the best player in this draft when all said and done. Dude is a freak,

What positions aren't a need? We literally have a need at every single position. RB is likely our deepest position, but Jackson is old and this is likely his last year of quality production, and we lost Choice (not a big deal but he did get a good amount of playing time last year). So basically, our deepest position is quite thin. Im hoping we dont draft Eddy Lacie with our first round pick and all, but if we spent a mid round pick on a good running back (M Lattimore cough cough) I wouldn't be complaining.

I think we need to determine if this list should have the Ray Caruths of the league only or guys like Butkus/Tatum too.
-
I dont think Suh is a thug. From what I know of him he is a very smart, well spoken, nice intelligent guy. If playing hard and dirty is what you are going for then I wouldn't call it a thug team. Thugs are Pacman Jones types who get into shootings at strip clubs or whatever.

Chiefs want picks for Brandon Albert
peterpan replied to The Big Cat's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Nix wasn't in charge of drafting those guys. O, and one isn;t a Buffalo Bill anymore. -
Anyone with the slightet bit of foresight saw this coming from a proverbrial mile away.... coming like a freight train.

Would they take two former 2nd round picks? I'd trade Aaron Williams and Troup for the guy. -
Ryan Nassib - QB - Syracuse
peterpan replied to BuffaloBillsForever's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The offseason gives people a chance to watch all of his, and the 500ish other players, tapes. They haven't played any games since Dec/Jan but people are still watching their games on tape. thats where the change comes from. -
Ryan Nassib - QB - Syracuse

Thats why my strategy is going to be - pass on a 1st round QB, regardless of who is there. My thinking is, all the QB needy teams, suck at scouting QBs. The Jets, the Cards, the Raiders, Jax, they can't tell the next Manning from the next Sanchez (just like us!). So, my thinking is, because all of those teams pick before us in teh 2nd round - let them make the first mistake! Let them draft all the QBs that are going to end up sucking, and that will leave us with the 'scraps' that are left over - which ironically will be the best QB in the draft1 Its so backwards and crazy, it just might work! Heck, its DESTINED to work!!!! -
Is he a bouncer at a bar? I see that happen all the time. One time I saw this bouncer pick up and slam this passed out drunk kid onto the concrete floor not once but tiwce before dragging him out onto the street by his hand. It was disgusting. I would have went out and told the police about it but I was underage at the time

Renter Nation: Blackstone Group & The New Serfdom Class
peterpan replied to Dean Cain's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
You dont have to be rich to do this same thing. Go buy a multi family house down the street on a 30 year note at 3.5%. In Buffalo, UB and the other colleges provide for a number of excess renters that will keep rents higher than they should be, relative to home prices. While inflation hits, your rents will go up while your mortgage payments remain flat. Thats what my family has been doing for 4-5 years. I also had the opportunity to pick the brain of one of the very sucessful Wall Street types. This guy started an investment firm in 2009 based on a risk algorithm. Since then they have over 500 million in controlled assest and are on pace to exceed $1Billion by the end of the year. He told me that if interet rates rise 2%, then a 30 yr bondholder will have lost 13.5% over that 30 years. COnversely, someone with a 30 yr note at 3.5% will have MADE that 13% if interet rates rise. Ironically, its good to be leveraged in times like these. -
Ryan Nassib - QB - Syracuse
peterpan replied to BuffaloBillsForever's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I dont want to read 50 pages of arguing, but I assume this has already been post: http://www.nationalfootballpost.com/scouting_department.html I'm not sure what kind of cred this dude has, but he has Nassib as the best player in the entire draft. Thats not the the first time I have seen Nassib rated as the best NFL prospect. (http://www.profootballweekly.com/2012/12/11/pfw-2012-all-america-team) I also think Nassib is the best QB in the draft but I'm not sure that is saying much. I dont know how good he will ever be because I think his ceiling is a tad low. Im torn between taking him in the 1st or waiting till the 2nd. If Keapernake and Dalton can last to the 2nd so should Nassib, but the NFL is so crewy I have no idea what to expect. -
Whats the penalty? 5 yards? 10? 15? I actually like the rule considering how they have called these helmet to helmet hits in the past. In the past, the WR would catch a pass, lower his head, and then the defender would get a 15 yard penalty. That was BS. It was the WRs fault! He ducked! Now I am still waiting for the buddy pass over the middle throw to be a penalty on the QB! Hilarious!

New gun control thread!
peterpan replied to Jim in Anchorage's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Maybe if Cuomo and people like him actually focussed on the problems, stories like this wouldn't happen. Maybe this perv would have been locked up in jail? http://www.syracuse.com/news/index.ssf/2013/03/woman_found_stabbed_and_bleedi.html PS: I just put in my two weeks notice. I am leaving NYS. The gun law was the straw that broke the cammels back. Taxes, lack of jobs (ie taxes and regulations on business) and weather all player a part in my decision. -
Dying veteran's F-U letter to Bush and Cheney
peterpan replied to We Come In Peace's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
This guy has points, but let me remind you are are still at war with Iraq. I know some people claim its over, but if its over, why do we still have troops there? Bush messed up, I get it, but how can we fix it? Obama has been in Office for over 4 years now, why aren't we out? Why aren't we out of Afganistan? He promised to end them - we want them over. Complaining about the past won't do us any good unless it helps us change the future. Please end the wars. -
IMHO - San Fran will move up in the draft
peterpan replied to mitchmurraydowntown's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That sould be a great move if we want to target a QB. Gets us ahead of the first 10 picks of the 2nd round. Guys I would love to target are Elam the S from Florida, one of the tops TEs from ND or Standford, and a top rated G.
