What is a catch in the NFL?
peterpan replied to TallskiWallski83's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
How about: The ball gets plucked from the air with two feet down and remains in the receivers hands for 100% of the time afterwards without him loosing it. It is OK if the ball hits the ground, so long as the receiver never loses his grasp on the ball. Furthermore, it will still be a catch if the ball moves within the receivers grasp, so long as the ball remains in the receivers hands for 100% of the time and never needs to be re-grasped. I'd say that's fairly quick and easy. The best part of all this is, now when a receiver catches these balls, they will be ruled a catch! DUH!!! -

What is a catch in the NFL?
peterpan replied to TallskiWallski83's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I have no idea. The NFL seems to think that if a ball shifts around a little bit that its magically not a catch. How did the ball get plucked from the air and remain in his hands for 100% of the time afterwards without him loosing it then? If it bounced off the ground, out of his hands, and he had to re-catch it, then sure - incomplete. But he never lost it!!!!! If he was palming the ball, and it hit the ground, and his pinky finger slips off, the NFL thinks its not a catch. Only in the NFL's cockamamie rulebook is that not considered a catch. In every of walk of life - that is indisputably a catch. And the catch-fumble of Goodwins, do you know how many times it is called the opposite way? It happened to us earlier this year - Searcy I think caused the fumble or picked it up. It was the EXACT same play - but ruled incomplete. I remember a game against GB years ago where Ahman Green caught the ball, switched hands, stiff armed, and it was still called incomplete. The NFL seriously needs to re-write there 'what defines a catch' rule because honestly it is total and complete BS. And while I am on it - how about that phantom block in the back call!!! On the jumbotron, it looked like the guy dove to make a tackle, and he didn't get pushed at all. He didn't even fall over until after he missed the tackle -
Marquise Goodwin vs T.J. Graham - Fan Poll

When Goodwin caught that pass that apparently was still not a catch - he would have scored a TD if it wasn't underthrown -

Jags WR Justin Blackmon Suspended Indefinitely
peterpan replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Then that would make him just like 90% of the players in this league and I say trade for him!!!! Jags will let him go for nothing I bet. Guy is one of the best WRs in the entire league. I don't care if he enjoys smoking pot. Hire the guy a driver so he doesn't get any DUI's and let him ball. -
Under Manning, the Colts had10 or 12 straight 10+ win seasons or something crazy. They made the playoffs every year. He got injured and they went 1-15. Sorry, but case closed.

Honestly, I have never thought Brady was as good as everyone thinks he is. Good, yes, but to consider him in a class with Manning and Brees? Hilarious. Brady was only above average when they won*** those superbowls, riding a great D and a great FG kicker to win each one. Then he has had the best OL in football his entire career. Then when he really took off he always had stud targets to throw to - like Randy Moss, Welker, Gronk, etc. Even a bum like me could throw drag routes to Welker and jump balls to Moss and Gronk all day. Seeing as how successful Matt Cassel was, and now seeing how 'great' Brady is without an incredible team around him, I think its fairly safe to safe that Brady is somewhat of a system QB. He had a few years on the pine and developed into a pretty darn good QB, who was made a HOFer because of the system he was in. He would have been out of the league ten years ago if he was drafted by the Bills or Browns. He never would have won a single SB if not for the stud team around him. Meanwhile, Manning and Brees are their entire team. I hope other people can see this huge difference.

Marquise Goodwin vs T.J. Graham - Fan Poll
peterpan replied to MClem06's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Said it perfectly. In Goodwins short career, he has more memorable and stellar plays than Graham has in his year and a half. Its not close. Goodwin is the football player. Goodwin deserves the snaps. I think you meant Goodwin, not graham jboyst - sorry man, but what games are you watching? Graham gets no separation. He has below average hands. He doesn't draw attention from anyone. Goodwin has torched DBs deep a number of times. A few were completed others where bad throws - but Graham, despite being almost as fast, doesn't beat people deep as often. My guess is his routes are not as good. Graham doesn't get the separation Goodwin does. This is very evident to me even with Goodwin's limited playing time. Plus - that catch last week was nuts. He got up to like 8' and plucked it out of the air. I've never seen Graham do anything like that. -
Why Does Everyone Love Pettine So Much?
peterpan replied to Storm Front's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Robey has been a stud this year. He has been great. He is playing better than most 1st round CBs play as rookies. But I don't know why/how he didnt easily defend or intercept that Brees pass. All he had to do was step up and go get the ball at its highest point !!!! He also missed an easy pick earlier, right after Freddies TD, that could have turned the game around for the bills (only down 11 at that point). I think we found a real gamer in Robey. -
Annoying Announcers and My Thoughts
peterpan replied to voodoo poonani's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Mario seems to get held on almost every play - all season long. How come they never call it? He should be drawing one or two a game - at a minimum. But I dont think he has drawn more than one or two. Why do the refs ignore it? Its the same with Nate Solder - he holds on every single play. Like extremely obvious holding, and its never called. You would think it would get called a couple times a game when it is that egregious. -
What happens if the Chiefs handily beat us? Their D is legit, and the way Thad has been protecting the ball and dealing with pressure, I could see 2-4 turnovers leading to points for our opponent. And I don't see our O being able to keep up. That would make for an interesting last game of the season, we could be 9-6 with a playoff berth on the line against NE.

I guess that means I won my fantasy game!!! I draft CJ in the 1st round every year. -
Gilmore practicing without club today (or a smaller club?)
peterpan replied to Bangarang's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Maybe they are hoping Gilmore can cover Graham like Talib did a few weeks ago. At least Manny Lawson is tall, maybe he can try to cover him if Gilmore cant lol -
Please stop running up the middle on 1st and 10
peterpan replied to BillsLux's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think we are passiong too much on 1st and 2nd down honestly. Heck, Third down too (when its third and short at least). The problem isn't running it. The problem is that slow inside handoff play. It must be Hackett's favorite. But it stinks. -
The Bills may sit CJ this week vs the Saints
peterpan replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I have been questioning the Bills handling of this injury since the 1st game he played with it. He is obviously not himself and he is not getting better. He should have been sat 3 weeks ago and be at 100% by now. I agree with you. Unless he has a huge gaping hole he tries to bounce it outside every time. He doesn't even have the patience to let the D collapse before bouncing it. He bounces it to the outside - only to run into the players who are still outside! -
Is it too early to give Buddy credit for last draft class?
peterpan replied to tedstrong's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I get the feeling Whaley was in charge too. We traded back - Buddy didn't like to trade. Only one player from the SEC - and it was in the 7th round. We will never know but Im sure Buddy had a huge input on the board and in the draft room but my guess is Whaley was the final say. -
Rams' QB Bradford tears ACL & Other NFL Injury News
peterpan replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Tebow, along with many others, were being discussed by their inner circle [jerk] Saw it reported by Yahoo. I'd love to see Tebow back!!! He is great for the NFL. With him and Farve gone, ESPN has gotten so boring. -

We were throwing on 1st and second down for 3 1/2 quarters. I was begging for runs!!! -
Great post. I noticed everyone ignored you too; no one addressed what you said. From what I have seen of EJ he has been barely serviceable too. From what I have seen from them both: - Thad throws a better deep ball and all of his passes have more zip (SJ seems to have trouble catching them). - Thad has been significantly better while running the read-option. - Neither has consistently made reads quick enough, resulting in sacks - Thad seems to be much quicker in the pocket, where EJ is a slower, bigger body type. Both avoid the rush well, but I think Thad has been better when deciding to scramble. - Both EJ and Thad had their best games against better defenses (Carolina and Cincy) - Both have kept us in every game they have played. - EJ threw more INTs, Thad's only INT was when his arm was hit by the rush - I don't blame him for that pick If EJ is going to start over Lewis, then the reasons cannot be: - He was a first round pick - He is taller. It should also be noted, for the purpose of this discussion, that not everyone thought EJ was a 1st round talent. The Cowboys had him as a 4th rounder, for example.

Mario Williams deserves props
peterpan replied to Captain Hindsight's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Was it me or was Mario on the right side most of the game, and then late in the 4th he moved tothe left, and got us the two sacks to win the game. Maybe there really is something to him wanting to be on the left side? Someone should do an analysis of where his 10 sacks this season have come from, right or left. He was also on grass, someone here has a stat where Mario gets all or most his sacks on Grass -
We should've traded A. Williams when his stock was high
peterpan replied to FireChan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I thought he looked good at Safety. At CB we already knew he stunk. But with injuries he was moved back. Hopefully now we see him at S. -
Dont be so sure - we may not resign him. Thats our MO.
