  1. So people cannot be held accountable for doing their jobs epically bad??? We traded up for a WR who Kiper had as a 7th rounder (Kiper was obviously right) and the next WR off the board is an instant stud. Plus we passed on two great QBs while needing a QB. Complaining about lack of accountabilty is not hindsight. We also cut DaRick Rodgers - is saying we should have kept him hindsight too? The guy was a stud in college and I'm not supirsed he is producing in Indy. Its not hindsight, its accountability.
  2. I always prefer to trade back and get more picks. The Bills saw first hand how great that can work out for you last year. For the sake of discussion, what positions are so top heavy and thin, where you would consider not trading back? Im going to go with WR, like Mike Evans or Watkins, and QB (assuming we would even want to draft another one). All other positions, like LB, OL, TE, seem to have enough depth where you could get back into the 20s and still draft a stud.
  3. I honestly didnt think our OL was that bad once Brown was cut and replaced. It was great sure, but we were one of the best running teams in the league. I attribute most of our pass blocking issues to QB play - not making the correct calls and not getting the ball to an open receiver on time. That said: yes I want to replace Legursky, then Pears, and eventually even Urbik. But I think a 2nd or 3rd round G this year, maybe a FA T or G, is the way to go. A top 10 right tackle wont help this team as much as a stud WR will at this point. We were 2nd in the NFL in rushing with 144 yrds/game, despite bad QB play. I'd love to know what we ranked in yards/rush, I'm not sure how to find it however, I believe we opened up holes for our running game just fine. As I stated, I think the problem mainly lies with our QB(s).
  4. These lists scream something to me - and its to take stud players which 'concerns'. The best players in the draft always fall because of character concerns or something else, like health. Kiko is one of them. Marcus Cannon was a 1st or 2nd round tackle back in 2011, until he was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma, a very curable disease. He has started for the Patsies for the 2nd half of this season. Robert Quinn was suspended for a year and fell slightly, he finished this season 2nd in the NFL with 19 sacks The Honey Badger smokes pot and fell to the 3rd round. He was the best rookie DB in the NFL this year. Vontaze Burfict had character concerns and went undrafted, he lead the league in tackles this season and is one of the best LBs in the NFL. Star Lotulelei went from a projected top 3 pick to the 14th pick because he was sick at the combine and has been a big reason the Panthers D has been as good as it has this season. Dez Bryant was maybe the best player in his draft class and fell to the 20s because he is thuggish. He is now one of the best WRs in the league. Brandon Spikes ran a bad 40 and fell out of the 1st round - he is now a stud. Gronkowski had a bad back and fell out of the 1st round. Obviously a huge mistake. Imagine if we had Burfict and Honey Bdager on our D this year? Imagine if we had Gronk on O? Talk about value!!!! What superstar will fall this year because they run a slow 40 or smoke too much pot??
  5. I was extremely impressed. How was this kid not playing all year? He has size, arm strength, an ideal delivery, and dominated Bama's defense. This is a guy to watch. McCarron is a 6-7th round prospect IMO. Not much to see, there are other prospects.
  6. I agree with this. Outside of a QB, which its unlikely we take at 9, I think our biggest needs are 1- Big WR and TE 2- OL 3- LB. If we took Mike Evans and then the best TE in the 2nd round I think that is a great draft for us.
  7. He dominated them all, outside of LSU. I don't know if I trade up for the guy, but at 9 I'd take him and celebrate.
  8. One late round QB we should take a flyer on is Casy Pachill from TCU. He missed half of this year with a broken non-throwing arm and most of last year with a DUI arrest getting him kicked off the team. But going back to his Freshman and Soph year he was great. He has the size at 6'5'' and 240ish and a strong arm. With his issues and lack of recent production I bet he goes undrafted or at most, the 6th or 7th round. Perfect guy to waste a 6th or 7th on and leave on the practice squad IMO. This kid makes Tuel look like a highschool freshman. Regarding Bortles, I haven't seen much of him but I am about to watch him in the fiesta bowl which is starting in 10 mins. From what I have seen, it appeared his offense was very horizontal, with very little verticle routes. He threw a lot of bubble screens. Is this true of all of his games? In conclusion, I wasn't impressed with their offense as a whole and therefore not very confident in Broyles, because he didnt throw too many NFL passes; I couldnt even evaluate him in my armchai way lol.
  9. The things i noticed watching on TV: - Bryant and Charles were getting OWNED. Pushed 5-10 yards down field on some runs. That is SO BAD. - None of our DTs where drawing/demanding double teams. Interior lineman for the Pats easily got into the 2nd level to block our LBS. - Kiko does not do well taking on blocks, he avoids them better than he sheds them. - Bradham doesn't do anything well. Why is he even getting playing time? I thought Moats has been much better when he is in - mainly in the beginning of the year when he played more. - Moats/Bradham should be replace - Byrd plays way too deep. My guess is this is on purpose but, when a RB does break through, they get 10-15 yards before Byrd is even on the TV screen. I would like to see him closer to the LOS so that he can run up and make a play before the RB gains 15 yards. Our DTs, particularly v NE with Dareus out, rarely draw double teams. Too often a G gets into the 2nd level and gets a good block on Kiko our our other LBs. These guys need to be free to roam and make plays. Kiko's main weakness that I see is his inabilty to disengage from larger OLman. But if our DL did a better job of demanding a double team - he would be more free to make plays. I hope we resign Carrington. He can play inside and would be better than Bryant IMO.
  10. My friends that are Jets fans are actually excited to get Sanchez back next season. I guess that is what a year of Geno Smith will do for you!!
  11. Coaches win games much more than the players do. It doesn't matter who plays for the Patsies they win every year. It doesn't matter who is on Dick LeBeuo has had on his defenses they are always top 5. I think the only real position that truly matters, is QB. Other positions can be masked with good coaching. That is why I don't get teams, like the Bills, who cheap out of coaches. And not just HC, but coordinators too. If I was an owner, I would have called up LeBeuo 10 years ago and offered to double his salary to come over and revamp our D. He would still be a DC but I'd pay him double whatever the Steelers are paying. I'd let him bring in his own staff and pay them double too. Boom - perennial top 5 Defense. LeBeou is a guy who already tried being a HC and doesn't want to be again - he is happy with just being a DC. I'd focus on guys like that. Do the same for ST and O. Find a guy who has had top 5 ST units for the last five years and offer to double his salary. Boom - top 5 ST unit.
  12. We need to get a QB first, and build a team around him 2nd. You cannot do it the other way around because, as the Bills have proven, all of your players will leave/retire before you find a QB. If we wait on EJ much longer, SJ, Freddie, Dareus, Byrd, KW, Glenn - these guys contracts will be up and most of them wont be resigning. We needed a QB 15 years ago and we still need one now who can be our franchise for the next 15 years. Then we can build 5 different teams around him over those years. But its futile to build a team around a nobody at QB and quite frankly EJ has shown me absolutely nothing that gives me confidence in him to be the guy. I'd take manziel.
  13. That is typical front office speak but so is saying "EJ is our starting QB". I wonder - what if Nix liked EJ but Whaley wasn't convinced? I guess its possible EJ was Nix's pick and not Whaley's???
  14. There is no reason for the bills to let him go without tagging him.
  15. I think the real difference has been more individual progression than as a team. McKelvin was pretty bad for a while but he was absolutely great this year. Dareus had his best year by far. KW had 10.5 sacks when his previous high for a season was 5.5 - nearly double. Aaron Williams was much better at Safety. Jerry Hughes was a 1st round bust that we traded our own 3rd round bust for and he had 10+ sacks. Manny Lawson is on his 3rd team and he had his best year here. Gilmore missed most of the season, but showed dramatic improvement from his 1st game back to his last, and when was the last time we had a rookie have as good a year as Kiko or Robey?? Next year I hope we can improve as much as a unit, as we did individually this year.
  16. I would rather see us draft a Big WR, and Big athletic TE and a G early in the draft and then, instead of being down and getting ran all over, we would be winning and teams would be trying to pass on us.
  17. I would love to add him, for depth if nothing else. Id also consider a guy like MIchael Oher. I don't think he has done too well at T but maybe he could be moved inside and be a stud at G? Im not OL guru but I would like a big road grader like him could excel at G. He is built like a brick schit house and would look good next to Glenn. He could also be an emergency T.
  18. I really like Evans too. People say he is slow, so was Jerry Rice and more recently, Alshon Jeffery. Evans looks better to me than Jeffery did in Collage. The way the NFL is going with these rule changes, you need a big target who you can throw jump balls to and let them get flagged for Pass Interference half the time. A stud TE is also a huge need. I'd love to land a Big WR and a Big Athletic TE in the beginning parts of the draft. So am I. We need lots of picks and quite honestly, the best players don't always go at the top of the draft. Kiko Alonso for example. Or like the year we took Dareus - yes he is a great player, but if we traded back, got an extra 2nd, and took JJ Watt instead, would you be angry? Of if Watt was gone, we could have landed Nick Fairley or Robert Quinn - who are both studs. Or we could have traded back two or three times, and landed Cam Jordan - who is, again, a stud. There will likely be lots of Ts and WRs and LBs and TEs who will go in the 1st round in this draft and a lot of them will be good. Lets trade back and take the best of the group that falls and land us another 2nd and/or 3rd round pick!!! It will be easier to land a G in the later rounds if we trade back and have more later round picks. I honestly don't think our OL is nearly as bad as the fans believe it is. Sure we need a LG and maybe a new T to be better, but its not like our line is abysmal. We were a top rushing team in the league - that is the OL. I believe most of our OL problems stem from our QB. They don't read defenses quick, they hold onto the ball too long, they dont make the proper calls and adjustments pre-snap. That said I don't think Urbik is as good as people believe. Is is our 3rd best OLman so I would like to replace the 5th and 4th best first but, he may need to be replaced in time (assuming we ever stop spinning our wheels)
  19. I have no problem benching Dareus for a chronic issue in a meaningless game. But I would have a huge problem cutting or trading him. We saw v NE how much he benefits our Run D, and at 23, we need him around for another 10 years. If we are going to get this team better it isn't going to be by cutting our best players. SJ may not be a 'true number 1' but he sure as hell is our best WR by far. He is a guy that would easily catch 100 balls for over 1000 yards on the Pats or Broncos or Saints. Byrd is a good player too, I would hate to create another hole because we don't want to pay him. Spiller on the other hand may be more valuable to this team in a trade scenario. If we could get a 1st or a high second it might benefit us to let him go. Spiller is fast and he can juke but he is not a natural running back like Freddie. Freddie reads his blocks and can set up other blocks and defenders - he has great technique. Spiller doesn't. Spiller gets the ball and bounces it outside with no patience, he doesn't set up his blocks at ALL, and he often gets in the open field and runs straight to the sideline where players can take a proper angle and tackle him for a 10 yard gain. Instead he needs to learn to 'run the ladder' - get north and south and then break to the sideline only when necessary. A RB needs to keep that space on the sideline to run for additional yardage later - Much like a WR runs routes. Spiller needs to square up to his defenders, and make them think he might go back toward the middle of the field - thus keeping the defender from instantly pursuing to the sideline. Then, once juking and breaking away from the defender, the defender is chancing Spiller instead of taking an angle to meet him at the sideline. This is really hard to explain without pictures so hopefully you all understand what I mean. I would have thought an NFL coach could have taught him better by now but maybe he just isn't getting it? It is unfortunate because he could have scored 2-3 long TD runs yesterday with better technique. I'd be torn letting CJ go but he isn't as good as he needs to be and if we can get a stud WR or OL with that pick I think that may be the best way to go. Its easy to replace a RB - just look what Blount did to us yesterday. Good blocking and reading said blocks goes a longer way than speed.
  20. Correlation does not mean causation. KW has been on the team for 8 years. The Bills have sucked in every one of those 8 years. Over the last 8 years , KW has been the only player to remain on the team; presumably, he is worth keeping around. Doesn't that imply that it was the other 10 that sucked? Considering KW doesn't do well with Pro Bowl fan voting, but does extremely well with coach and player voting, and is constantly getting public praise from people like Bill Belecheat, I am going to assume that KW is in fact very good.
  21. I lke this site too: http://www.draftcountdown.com/ If you look at his track record, his predictions on player ability are pretty accurate. Walter football, not so much. The only problem is he doesn;t include underclassmen until they declare. So buys like Clowney, Manziel, Bridgewater, haven't been on his lists all year and still aren't.
  22. How many teams currently slated to make the playoffs have a 'perfectly fine, middle of the pack TE" starting for them right now? 1? Maybe 2? Out of 12!!! All 8 teams in the last 4 super bowls had above average TEs, most had stud TEs. This isn't 1984. TE is one of the most productive positions for an offense. If you looked at team results, you could easily make an argument that TE is the 2nd most important offensive position in the modern NFL, short of only QB.
  23. Maybe he is wearing gloves because he isn't practicing and its cold outside?
  24. If we draft another T, and end up moving Glenn, I would want him at RT, not LG. Glenn has been a beast all year. No need to move him anywhere.
  25. Personally I think Thad might give us a better chance at winning the game. And I would be on board with just sitting EJ the rest of the year. The football Gods hate us Bills fans and I can see The Patsies taking a shot at EJs knees, tearing one all to pieces, and not getting flagged for it.
