The next great QB rivalry: Wilson vs. Kaepernick
peterpan replied to filthymcnasty08's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Thank you for being smart and intelligent. Seattle had also given Matt Flynn a big contract just a few months earlier. Both of these guys and Andy Dalton should have been strongly considered by Buffalo. To pass on one of the three is one thing, but to pass on ALL THREE is downright inexcusable. IMO all three were better prospects than EJ coming out of college too. -
For those of you wondering - it is legal/allowed to wear headphones during take off and landing. You iPod or whatever can't be on, but your head phones can remain in your ears. My earphones double as ear plugs and I never take them out of my ears while flying. 9 out of 10 flight attendants don't say anything, 1 in 10 ask me to turn off my iPod, I tell them it is off and my headphones double as earplugs and they are OK with it. Only once in my like 200+ flights in the past 5 years has someone told me I had to take them out of my ears. I put them right back in after she walked away.

Bridgewater: Not first rounder to several teams
peterpan replied to Buffalo Barbarian's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Kiper isn't perfect but neither are the Bills. I noticed the other day that Cam Thomas is the starting NG for the Chargers. I remember when we drafted Troup, Kiper went off - saying how it was such a bad pick and he had Troup in the 7th round or something. He specifically stated that Troup was a bad value, and if they wanted to 'reach' for a NG, then they should have taken Cam Thomas because he was the best NG available. Seems like Kiper was right about that. Kiper however is only one guy and the Bills have an entire team of scouts. The worst is Todd McShay. If there is a QB Todd McShay likes, then just stay away. Woof. -

Pasters Posters who gives a sht

I don't recall who exactly, but many posters where pasting (maybe in the shout box?) that Calvin Johnson was this or that because he had quite a few drops this year. Maybe this explains why? http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nfl-shutdown-corner/lions-receiver-calvin-johnson-played-finger-pointing-perpendicular-151117257--nfl.html Best WR in the league, bar none. Maybe the best ever.

Talib was one of the better CBs in the league and was on the market for a 4th - I say that the Bills and 30 other teams are not dumb for trading for him. Same with Blount. He was a monster, got hurt, and then was forgotten. Now its no surprise he is a monster again. But the Bills would rather use top 10 picks on RBs rather than get established RBS for a 7th rounder.

And they have Hoyer and a chance to get a top QB too. I think its a great opportunity for someone out there. -
Possible trade down with Cleveland

I like Mike Evans but there might be 2-3 WRs who end up better than him, who we could take at 26. But the compensation does seem low. -

That gun would be under my bed right now if I found it! -
Manning is much better than Brady. Its evident watching the games who actively does more and who is benefiting more from others around him. The Patriots have simply been a better TEAM over the last decade+ than the Colts where. Lets not forget they CHEATED. THEY CHEATED THEY CHEATED THEY CHEATED. I know the NFL wants to sweep it under the rug but guess what, Brady was 12-2 in the playoffs before being caught and 5-5 since (I guess now they are 6-5) and 3-0 in teh SB now they are 0-2. Brady stinks under pressure, its well documented. Give him the Bills OL for the last decade and Brady would have never made it to the playoffs. Manning never gets the protection Brady does, Manning just gets rid of the ball that much faster. Brady was an average Game Manager in the super bowls they did win, relying on great D and a strong run and screen game. This year, same thing. Peyton has been his entire team for his entire career. 10 straight 10 win seasons turns into a 1-15 record when he gets hurt. Patriots go 11-5 with Matt Cassel. Its not even close.

What did we get for Marshawn Lynch?
peterpan replied to Jerry Jone's Toupee's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
and the Saints said they woulda gave up at least a 3rd if they knew he was available . -
Seems to me the best Gs in the NFL tend to be Tackles in college. Logan Mankins, Jari Evans, Levitre, those kinda guys. Why not take a guy who kinda underwhelmed at T, like Oher, and try him at LG?? Im not OL expert, but if half the scouts thought Glenn was a G only, there cant be much difference between the positions. Heck he could play RT too. On another note I noticed Will Yeatman was on that FA list. We should sign him and give him a shot at TE and/or T. He was an All American Lacrosse Player and one hell of an athlete. He was 260 in college, and bulked up to 315 it looks like. Hows that for a blocking TE? Or maybe the next Peters???
-
I'm amazed at Seattle's roster and how they acquired so many stud players in late rounds or low-level FA contracts. We should pluck a few scouts from their ranks.
-
OL and defense has always been the core of the Patsies teams when they won superbowls. And of course cheating. They went pass-happy for a few years and didn't win one. That was also after they got caught cheating and presumable, have stopped.

Bills need to tighten run Defense
peterpan replied to bisonbrigade's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'd rather be winning at the end of the game. Then the other team wont be running. 1 - Mike Evans, WR 2 - Troy Niklas, TE -
Go research the importance of Jimmy Graham the last 3 seasons and get back to us. Rd1: Mike Evans Rd2: Troy Niklas - 6'7'', 270lbs, very athletic - used to play LB. Sounds good to me.
-
I kinda think its the other way around. Brady didn't do much of anything to win those three super bowls, more like the D and rOL. Then they went 11-5 with Matt Cassel, and Trent Edwards could have won that game tonight. PS - A hurt and bad rep B Spikes could be a cheap cure to our run D. Just saying.

Chris Mortensen on ESPN says he has talked to teams/scouts that love Manzeil, some have him rated as the top QB in the class, may go as early as #3. Just FYI.

Personnel Decisions Looming for Bills in 2015
peterpan replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well Dareus would deserve a deal. Freddie Jackson would likely be retiring. Aaron Williams has been up and down, he could be retained but I doubt its for notable money. Same with Jerry Hughes as a role player and not a full-time starter. Spiller is a big name guy who will want big time money and isnt worth it. He isn't even the go to back on the team. We should take a late round RB this draft and next and find a serviceable back. There is no need to take one in the 1st round, basically ever. -
I hope Manziel stays in school, I want next years class to be stronger/deeper because I doubt we give up on EJ after one season. If he stinks in yr two its more likely to take another QB

ESPN employs the worst BSers!
peterpan replied to D. L. Hot-Flamethrower's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
NBC has the worst broadcasts. SO blah and Bland with the 4 worst broadcasters on TV. Bob Costas? woof. -
Carolina gave up on Jimmy Clausen after 1 season and 10 starts, so it does happen. EJ has played in the league, so he has shown indicators. He has practiced and studied and shown his work ethic too, so its not like its still a blind toss-up to if he will be good or not. I remember with Maybin, that there where reports of the coaches being extremely disappointed with him after the first rookie mini camp or OTAs. Like after 2-3 practices, without pads, they already knew he stunk. The mere fact that EJ was a 1st round pick should NOT be the reason we don't draft another QB this year. The reason should be that EJ has shown the coaches/FO enough to believe in him becoming 'the guy'. From what I personally have seen, I'd give him a 10-20% chance of being 'the guy'. That's not high enough for me. Well I would hope that my FO is good enough to know that player X is already better than Manuel and would beat him out fairly easily. There would be no reason to draft Mr. X if he weren't going to upgrade the position fairly significantly.

NFL Rules That Are Nothing Short of Contradictory ?
peterpan replied to T master's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I forget which game but a player caught the ball, got two feet and a knee down inbounds, landed out of bounds, and dropped the ball. But it was reviewed and still called a catch? The ref had some wacky reason about forward progress as to why it was a catch this time and not an incomplete pass because 9 out of 10 times they call that an incomplete pass. I have never heard of forward progress being refereed to while making a play a catch before today. It seems to me there is no rhyme or reason to it. They never call it consistently and it is ruining the games. They did not have these problems 10 years ago.
