This Week in the AFL 1968 Week 4
dlonce replied to \GoBillsInDallas/'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Ahhh yes, Marlin “The Magician” Briscoe. Loved that guy. That Jet game sticks out. It was tough going from the best to this. -
Never broke anything but, a bunch of us were at a friends house for The Bills v Washington Super Bowl Game. The host had just purchased a new TV for the game. After a Bills interception we jumped up ,and when we hit the floor the tv(it’s was on a spring loaded base) flew out and landed on my foot. Didnt feel it, but we sweated out the tv was broken, but it didn’t. No one cared about my foot.

Decline offsetting penalty during Cards game?
dlonce replied to Jobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He seems to have a penalty per game. He gets them because he’s not a very good blocker and gets out of position easily. Mr. Whiff. He seems to get called on important plays. It might be a mental thing, not too certain. In general, if you watch any of our TEs block, notably on the LOS, you will see a lot of missed blocking assignments. An upgrade next year would be welcomed. Off topic, this is a great week for a bye. -
Neither. Watt is constantly hurt and Jones doesn’t fit the culture of this team. We sure could use someone/ a few on the defensive side though.

Why Did You Become a Buffalo Bills Fan?
dlonce replied to JohnNord's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Born into fandom. WNY born and raised. Listened to games on radio in very early 60s with my dad and brothers. Went to a few games at the rock pile during the AFL Championship years. Watched them play K.C. On TV for the rights to go to Super Bowl I. Tempus Fugit, where did the time go? My dad drove bus for Metro, and he took the Bills games, usually driving the opposing teams to the stadium. I was with him many times. Got into the games for free, meeting some great HOF players and getting their autographs. Im one of those “before I die I want to win a Super Bowl” guys. -
Bon Jovi will Never come to Buffalo again "I have knocked it off the map"

Good. Don’t want him here anyway. I turn his crap off when it comes on. -
Is it time to admit Ryan Tannehill is pretty good?
dlonce replied to FireChans's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I’m actually one of the few people who wanted the Bills to move up a little and draft Tannehill. He has talent. I always thought he’d be an Alex Smith type QB. Miami did a terrible job helping him out. I am very happy though with JA. -
Last Night was 1991 week 6 in KC Revisited
dlonce replied to Lenigmusx's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It just shows you that a great team can take an ass kicking sometimes. A not yet great team taking an ass whipping isn’t a forecast for the future. Good teams get whipped in this league. As terrible as they played they were still in the game late into the 3rd quarter. We shall see how they respond. Response is an important telling sign. -
Me too, except he’s not that knowledgeable. The “I was a coach” thing is nothing more then to attempt to give his opinion validity. I have never heard him detail any of the football language a real coach would know. Hes on WGR because the people who followed him when he worked from his moms basement flooded WGR with “ hire Sal” calls and emails. For those who think those guys make a good living, you are very mistaken. Ill take my “living”over his any day. Having said the above, he’s probably the best that station has to offer. I’d listen to him anytime over most there. I listen when I’m driving and most of the callers are moronic, their questions are mostly uneducated drivel.

Need to trade for a pass rusher
dlonce replied to Ethan in Cleveland's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Having sacks isn’t the biggest positive, it’s getting pressure. We have literally no pressure. That’s why Hughes is struggling. There’s no one else creating pressure. -
Titans LB Kamalei Correa Requests Trade UPDATE: traded to Jax
dlonce replied to Process's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Edmunds is very young. He also has an injured shoulder, which is difficult for a linebacker. Shedding blocks and tackling with a bad shoulder is not a good thing. They should rest him unless it’s a chronic condition. -
The milkman’s defense, what’s it called, nine wide? It needs good players,a good DL, which we are lacking at this point. We got beat by a very good Tennessee team that did a bit more practicing than we know. You don’t set a defense up like they did in supposedly limited practices. Taking away the effective, to this point, crossover scheme. That required set up and practice. It’s a wake up call. Frazier needs to dial up a blitz package somehow. The 4 men up front, along with the LBs isn’t getting the job done.

A few thoughts about the Titans game, in no particular order
dlonce replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Tough game all around. I remember the Super Bowl Bills teams laying eggs, most notably in prime time. Im usually really pissed off after a game like this but for some reason I think we bounce back, especially offensively. Heads were hanging from the get go. The Titans took away JAs/Dabolls bread and butter cross over routes by flooding both sides. Daboll refused to take what was there from the beginning, which were short throws in the middle zone. Adjustments offensively in the 3rd quarter are lacking. Josh Allen was very confused at times with what the Titans were showing defensively. Daboll had no answer until it was too late. His focus wasn’t there tonight. The blueprint is now out there on how to play this offense, unless the OC can adjust. This team was not ready to play tonight. Blame McClappy? Did we not game plan properly? Practice? The penalties sure looked like focus wasn’t there. Did the fact this game wasn’t a go until Monday a big Reason? Losing players to injuries hurt but the effect shouldn’t be as dramatic as what happened. The defense is not very good. Management, with their arrogance, believes they can plug in average to below average players and continue with quality play. The “system” isn’t working. This team is in desperate need of better defensive lineman/pass rushers, linebackers and could use another DB. What was once thought as depth is now a detriment. Sure looks like they miss Lawson and Star. -
Lol. Riiiiight

Bbbbbuttt, PFF says Darnold is a better player.

The pass to Kroft keeps getting criticized- Why?
dlonce replied to oldmanfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No problem for me with the throw. People here have been bitching about not throwing up contested balls and having faith in your receiver. That’s what good QBs do. Getting conservative isn’t a wise choice against a team that can score in bunches. It was a completion and they were screwed by a ref/ NY that was trying to get a more competitive game going. -
ESPN+: Top 10 QBs according to league personnel
dlonce replied to DCOrange's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I guess, if it’s based on stats. Its a stats based world today. Dak just doesn’t exhume fear. He looks average to me. Tannehill even getting a vote is a joke, but of course it’s based on his last year statistically. Having a 65% accuracy rating isn’t all that much different than being in the upper 50s. Way too much emphasis on percentages. Darnold received a vote? Lol. He’s in the same league as Allen right now, except Allen’s team won a few more games. Allen was in the playoffs. You can all have your stats. -
Fracking industry projected to have $300B in losses

If they have substantial funds in the market they likely held. Smart investors would be buying at depressed prices. The markets coming back and 50% gains at minimum have been easy. -
5th year option on Allen or bid on Watson in FA in 22
dlonce replied to Mango's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You are likely joking but what you just stated is true. I have a family member that had Covid 19 that caused brain inflammation. Hallucinations were part of it and Watson wasn’t one of them. Thank God she is getting better. She did tell me the Bills are going to the AFC championship though.( She’s a huge Bills fan) lost a few weeks of her life. Was shocked to find out Brady went to Tampa. All true. -
This is the year to trade down and pick up multiple Day 2 picks
dlonce replied to Estro's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Any scenario is depended upon Free Agency first. FA will set the table for possibilities. I’d prefer to trade up this year, the higher the better. We have too many picks right now, and need a potential elite talent that can play today for you. -
New Internet Rumor about Bills - getting 3 Primetime games
dlonce replied to MAJBobby's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It’s about ratings. Our three prime time games were highly rated. Therefore we get more prime time games. The NFL needs to learn a lesson. People are very tired of seeing the same teams play on prime time. -
Daboll is not the right OC for this QB. He’s terrible at feel for game flow. It’s seems apparent though that our head coach had dictated this philosophy. Dinosaur football, get a lead, play conservatively, allowing the defense to seal the deal. Speaking of defense, we were killed by those 2 point conversions. The shoddy tackling continued today. Houston didn’t deserve to win this game. Better days ahead if we can get this coaching staff out of the 1970s.
