  1. The second photo has the backdrop of the Magic Kingdom, so it's either that, or he's trying to imply that SB winners are in a league of their own. Or that Eli is a character in and of himself. Wish the author would have explained, but the Phillip Rivers one had my dying... so it doesn't really matter. BA
  2. It's hard to officiate in the NFL. BA
  3. I swear I saw the same thing -- I thought to myself, "ejection and suspension." BA
  4. They're not nearly as bad as I thought they'd be. I'm happy for this. BA
  5. With the loss of Hernandez and sub-par play by Welker (or the fact that the Pats seem to moving away from him), wide receiver has become an issue as well. Bad OL + suspect receiving = future trouble for Stevan Ridley and the running game. I'd be worried if I were a Pats fan. BA
  6. ... that are making me smile on a Monday, for some reason. Bills lead the NFL in touchdowns with 9 through Week 2. I would never have guessed this. (Sorry if embedded in another post; I didn't find it doing a search). Bills also lead the NFL in rushing yards per game, with 198. More people likely are aware of this; it's a testament to CJ and our O-Line, and bodes well for the rest of the season. Some might argue about "garbage" time, but it cuts both ways -- we scored TDs in garbage time versus the Jets and didn't try in garbage time versus the Chiefs. I'm normally not a fan of "stats," but when they play in our favor -- that changes a bit. Especially on a Monday. BA
  7. Some of us who were excited about the M. Williams signing expected his mere presence to pave the way for Dareus and K. Williams to get double-digit sacks and perhaps make the Pro Bowl in the process. K. Williams already has 2.5, and his "record" is 5.5 in a full season. I couldn't give a rat's you-know-what if M. Williams has a single sack this season, as long as the surrounding cast DOES, in large part because of him. It's amazing how some on this board think one player's single contribution (or lack thereof) is more important than others (PLURAL) benefiting greatly from said player's presence. BA
  8. This. If this is true, we dominated the Jets last week. BA
  9. WOW -- That, I did not know. I wonder if any other starting QB was ever drafted in the first two rounds after losing every game of his final college season. BA
  10. That was a bitter pill for me to swallow, too. Nobody expected Rogers to fall as far as he did. Plus, we didn't have a first-round pick in 2005. I believe Edwards only won one game for the Cardinal the year he was drafted. I could be wrong on this, but there was something that made me say, "WTF?" Guilty as charged. The purpose of that list wasn't to name the studs -- We know who they are. The purpose was to list the "hyped" QBs who are no longer in the league, or didn't live up to that hype. I think we're in agreement that we need a franchise QB. And that guy could be had in the first round of next year's draft. My point from the get-go was that we won't have to trade up. Cheers. BA
  11. "Coincidence?" -- Well the Bills thought they had "that guy" in Johnson. And Losman. And Edwards. Strike 1, 2, 3. Let's take a look at the last decade of highly drafted QBs, who were given high grades, and teams either bit based upon those grades, or reached: 2002: David Carr (#1 overall); Joey Harrington (#3 overall) ... Unless you count Patrick Ramsey, not a single drafted QB from this class is still playing. 2003: Carson Palmer (#1 overall) ... (yawn) 2005: Alex Smith (#1 overall); Byron Lefwitch (#7 overall) -- Smith is "meh," and even then only in the right system. 2006: Vince Young (#3 overall) 2007 Jamarcus Russell (#1 overall) 2010: Jake Locker (#8 overall); Blaine Gabbert (#10 overall) -- Ponder, taken later, will be in the league far longer than these two. Hey, I'm with you. We need a franchise QB. I just don't believe we'll have to trade up to get our guy next draft. And I'm not so sure we'll see "Sam Bradford or better" in that draft. BA
  12. Okay. Who is that "real franchise QB" who's worth trading up for? Matt Barkley? Logan Thomas? Landry Jones? Geno Smith? Tyler Wilson? Tyler Bray? As of right now, there's no Luck or RGIII in this draft. I can't overstate that enough. It's a crapshoot, unless someone posts supersonic numbers this year. BA
  13. Potter injured his knee??? BA
  14. Randy Moss looked pretty damn good yesterday. And "nobody wanted him" either, save San Fran. Not bad for a 35-year-old, I'd say. BA
  15. For some reason, they're apparently scared of shooting themselves in the foot. BA
  16. We need a vet. We've been hearing for years that we only want "high character" guys. Apparently, high character guys don't win ballgames with any regularity when they become Buffalo Bills. I'd have no problem with Plax at this point. What's the risk? He'll divide a losing locker room? BA
  17. Next draft will be extremely deep at the QB position. Trouble is, there's no consensus stud, ala Luck and RGIII. BA
  18. To be clear: I did NOT want Gilmore. (I also criticized the Graham and Asper picks). That said, let's take a look at what the nine guys taken ahead of him did on Sunday -- then Gilmore: 1). Andrew Luck: 23/45 for 309 yards, 1 TD, 3 INT, 52.9 Rating. Mediocre debut. Less-than-impressive numbers, but you're not going to win a shootout with the Bears if you're the Colts. Mixed bag. 2): RG III: 19/26 for 303 yards, 2 TDs, 0 INT, 139.9 Rating. Amazing debut. Blew everyone away. STELLAR game against a tough opponent on the road. FAR exceeded expectations, and won a shootout with Brees. A pleasure to watch. 3). Trent Richardson: 39 yards on 19 carries (avg. 2.05 YPC). Putrid debut. He's already had major surgery and looked a bit lost out there. 4). Matt Kalil: Blocked an extra point that paved the way for the Vikings to tie and eventually win in OT. Didn't allow a sack. Great debut. 5). Justin Blackmon: 3 catches for 24 yards. And I'm guessing he was sober. Putrid debut, and one strike away from a suspension. 6). Morris Claiborne: Held Nix to 4 catches on 39 yards. Manning was forced to throw more to Victor Cruz, who had some horrid drops in double and triple coverage. More than held his own against a top receiver. Great debut. 7). Mark Barron: 3 tackles (0 for loss), 2 passes deflected. (By comparison, the ageless Ronde Barber had 5 tackles (2 for loss), 1 sack, 2 passes deflected. Mediocre debut. 8). Ryan Tannehill: 20/36 for 219 yards, 3 INTs, 0 TDs, 39 rating. LOL debut. The rest of the team sucks, but I'm not using that as an exucse for him. 9). Luke Kuechly: 4 tackles (2 solo). Didn't make any mistakes, but didn't shine, either. Mediocre debut. 10). Stephon Gillmore: 4 tackles (2 solo). Got torched repeatedly. The ENTIRE UNIT didn't break up a single pass. Front four (Esp. M. Williams) seemed apathetic, allowing the Jets to throw repeatedly. No excuses, though. Putrid debut. RG III was a show-stopper. Kalil was silent but potent. Claiborne impressed. The rest? Mixed bag. I'm trying to put this into perspective -- It's too early to judge, given the above (except Tanny, who I thought was a bust before the draft). I'll be looking for Gilmore to right the ship next week -- as well as 50 others (Spiller, Potter delivered). BA
  19. In case anyone is wondering what a difference a TRUE franchise QB can make, check out the Skins/Saints game. Then please make a case for Fitz. BA
  20. You don't want to know. On the off-chance that you DO, Google "dity Sanchez" and you'll have your answer quite quickly. BA
  21. This. It was so damn blatant, too -- The defender was practically wrestling Cruz to the ground before the ball was even close. Potentially game-changing blunder by the scabs. BA
  22. "... but he looked great in the preseason." BA
  23. As I recall, the Raiders drafted Janikowski 17th overall mostly because of his ability to kick the ball into the endzone. Yeah, I know... It's the Raiders, but still. I would be shocked if he doesn't make the team. We need all the positive field position we can get. BA
