  1. Addiction sucks. Those who've never been through it do not know what it means. I do, too. But how many chances should he get? We all are responsible for our own actions. My docs prescribed me highly addictive meds for many years and my detox was a REAL b*tch. That said, I never felt the urge to commit a burglary -- or any crime for that matter. It's more than addiction with Leaf. Dude's got some serious psychological issues.
  2. I was talking about potentially trading with JAX at #7 if Kalil fell -- I wouldn't want to trade up to #3 under any circumstances.
  3. Even better. #10 and our third to Jacksonville to move up for Kalil?
  4. Yes. Opiates are EVIL. So's Xanax, but the various stories did say it was a pain killer -- So I, too, would bet on Percs. BA
  5. I'm not suggesting they'd do it for themselves. I'm suggesting they'd do it for people to whom they're loyal. Hypothetical: Kagan/Obama. For example, Obama doing damage control now, versus the end of June would be quite a boon for him. But then, these are extraordinary times/circumstances. We have a justice who was neck deep in primping a law over which she's now presiding. How she wasn't "forced" to recuse herself is beyond me. If that happened, anything can happen. Sadly, I do believe that we are sinking to new lows under this administration, and think anything is possible. Last time a leak occurred was 1986 -- meaning there is precedence. I hope you're right; I fully believe it will be struck down completely, and the timing will be on the side of the Right. That would minimize Obama's "legacy" to "great teleprompter reader."
  6. What say you? I vote "Yes" -- The side that stands the most to "lose" will leak it to give "its party" more time for damage control. Each side realizes there's too much at stake this year, and the timing will stink for one party or the other if this drags on through June. Also, here's an analysis. BA
  7. Two, and I'm 36. Nope. I don't come on here to pick fights. Life's too short. If you read my post, it hints that Miami would trade up -- not the Bills. Tannehill with our pick would be a disaster, and Buddy > Ireland even during nap time. BA
  8. I wouldn't be bothered by Blackmon as the pick; however, I think he'd be a wasted talent without a darn good LT. Fitz releases the ball so quickly that Blackmon's speed won't be much of a factor. If we had a dominant LT, Fitz has more time to throw -- and his accuracy could increase. Chicken/egg argument, I suppose. BTW, feel better! I had my first at 32. Not fun.
  9. This has nothing to do with dopey fans. It has to do with dopey GMs. And Ireland is about as dopey as they get. I can definitely see Miami buying in to this.
  10. This. Arguably the three toughest positions to fill in FA: Franchise QB Franchise LT Franchise DE (check!) With Kalil, we have a chance of filling the second of those three positions. This doesn't just help improve one position. Maybe it helps Ftizpatrick buy more time so that he doesn't have to release the ball right away. That could help him improve his accuracy. True, Fitz would have to adjust -- and that's where coaching comes in. But he's smart enough to grasp the concept, methinks. Here is how Kalil could fall to #6 -- and, as mentioned in another thread, the Rams are likely to shop the pick: 1. Colts: Andrew Luck 2. Redskins: RG III 3. Dolphins: Ryan Tannehill (Trade up by Miami with Minnesota -- Yes, I think they're desperate enough to make this move, fearing Cleveland will take him. Also, I think this makes sense for Minnesota, as they have so many needs. True, so does Miami -- but their GM and owner are utterly inept). 4. Browns: Trent Richardson / Justin Blackmon 5. Bucs: Trent Richardson / Morris Claiborne I think swapping 1st-rounders and a second gets it done with the Rams. And I'd do it in a heartbeat. I'm sick of OLs who "convert" to tackle. We could have a chance of drafting potentially one of the best pure LTs in many years without breaking the bank or mortgaging the future. AND, this guy plays with a mean streak. We need that, too. BA
  11. I'm guessing this is what Tipster was referring to. It absolutely could bring the Bills in to play if Kalil is miraculously still on the board at No. 6. BA
  12. Thanks for the heads-up on the interview! It was Rome, but the audio seems to only be available to subscribers. Here's an article about it, though. All seriousness aside, I believe he's the one who will be "mentored" in prison. BA
  13. My Link * Manning: Has become an NFL god. * Leaf: Arguably the biggest first/second pick draft bust of all time (not to take away anything from JRuss). BA
  14. Thanks for phrasing it this way -- ie. as a player and as a Bill. I really don't see any way of him becoming a Bill, as he's almost assured to be drafted by a team that utilizes a 3-4. As a Trojan -- My nickname for Perry was "If Only." As in, "If only he would have gotten there a split-second sooner..." Some of the talking heads say he's got a great first step, which makes me wonder if they watched all the games. Some plays, yes -- many plays, no. He had a very good year in 2011, but it could have been a MONSTER year -- If only. Positives (IMHO) 1). COULD play 3-4 or 4-3 at the NFL level, but he won't be "the guy" at DE if in a 4-3 system. 2). Durable. I don't recall him having missed a game despite a high ankle sprain. 3). Very strong once he gets past the initial blocker. Negatives (IMHO) 1). Can be handled quite easily by bigger linemen. No double team necessary. When he's taken out of a play, he's really taken out of a play. 2). Tends to get "lost" in a play and could have better instincts as to where the football is. 3). While I wrote (above) that he could play in either scheme, I really think the only way he excels is in a 3-4. 4-3 for Perry is square peg/round hole in the NFL. 4). Smallish -- but this really is covered in Point 3. I don't think any team will "reach" for him unless that team believes he's a "perfect fit" or "missing link." I can see him slipping into Round 2. Personally -- Helluva guy. I'll root for him regardless. BA
  15. LOL thanks for the morning chuckle.
  16. MMA fight. Dan Carpenter against Mario Williams. Seems fair to me.
  17. Based on the fact that I'm a USC alum/die-hard fan and have watched nearly every game in which he's played dominated. Next? Edit: He's the only USC player I'd want as a Bill from this year's class, for the record.
  18. I think there's a steep drop-off after Kalil. I think Reiff is overhyped, and not worthy of a top-10 pick. Problem is, neither are a lot of folks "around" once you get past six or seven. I hate our draft position.
  19. This, and only this. Kalil, to me, is the safest pick in the draft. BA
  20. I'd be willing to lower it to 8 games for Peyton -- on the condition that Williams is banned from the NFL for life. I think the NFL got it right, and these moves will send the RIGHT message to others who might consider such abhorrent acts in the future. BA
  21. My apologies. A few people above me posted about Floyd -- and I thought he was the temporary topic of discussion. Hazards of posting while working. I believe Floyd falls to us because the Fins will trade up to get Tannehill. I would love to trade back in that scenario because someone will want him badly (and I am one who previously has never talked about trading back in any draft). I agree with you that Claiborne does NOT fall to us, and that I'd take him in a heartbeat if he did. And then I'd have to hose down my monitor.
  22. It worked for BRUUUUUUUUCE! Just kidding. I agree with your assessment.
  23. Where was Miami's presser for David Gerard? DAAAAAMN. I must have missed it.
