  1. Fair enough.
  2. I couldn't see ESPN reporting something this serious -- which could trigger an avalanche of lawsuits -- unless they had hard evidence and/or solid witnesses. I really don't believe anything the Saints say anymore. Will be interesting to see how it pans out.
  3. Point taken. However, the current lack of info could go either way, meaning, it might not have been limited to those years. To me, it would show that this GM -- and people he brought in -- would stop at nothing to win for the past decade. If it were a different GM, okay. But it's not. Begs the question of what else is likely to come out. Innocent until proven guilty -- sure. But one has to consider the character of the front office. If they can look the other way on bounties, eavesdropping wouldn't surprise me at all. BA
  4. You hit the nail on the head. I really, really like Drew Brees, but I don't see how the "Super Bowl era" in New Orleans isn't already branded with an asterisk. I read over the weekend that Jabari Greer signed a three-year extension. Congrats... I think??? BA
  5. How do you guys rank this compared to NE's Spygate, if true? BA
  6. Intriguing idea, trading with the Pats. However, I don't see them trading next year's Round 1. I can see both Round 1 picks this year, and throw in Mallet for kicks. That could give us: RD 1). Jonathan Martin, OL (He's all over the place in draft boards. I see him there at 27). RD 1). Coby Fleener, TE (I'd rather go WR here but strongly believe the Giants would take him one pick later. I like the one-two punch of Stanford guys. Also, Fleener will be a headache for Barron -- Who NE is most likely to pick at #10.) RD 2). Alshon Jeffery, WR (Like his toughness; I think drops can be corrected with this guy.) RD 3). Trumain Johnson, CB (Picking him solely for his size and power (per Buddy's CB preferences) at this spot.) RD 4). Russell Wilson, QB (I don't think he falls much beyond here. And I like him. A lot.) RD 4). Tank Carder, OLB (Has been in for a visit, and good value here at LB.) Main positions addressed; now: 1). Get rid of Thigpen. Move Brad Smith to WR and see what he does this year. (Cut his ass if he fails). Have Mallett and Wilson fight it out for 2/3. Surely Chan can develop one of them. If he can help both -- trade bait for another year). I don't see both busting. 2). I'm apparently one of the few who isn't worried much about our defense THIS YEAR aside from CB, with our FA additions. Last I saw, there were a few options left at LB in FA, and Buddy said he's probably not done in FA. Also, there are bound to be surprise cuts when teams have to get to the 53-man roster. Not worried here. BA
  7. Hmmm... Celebrating Hitler's birthday, are we? BA
  8. NAILED IT! Every player from Andrew Luck to Mr. Irrelevant is a "potential bust."
  9. I didn't see the word "bust" once in that article. "Overrated" does not mean "bust." I thought it was a fair analysis of one person's opinion -- who stated more than once that it was only his "opinion." BA
  10. For me, last draft Saturday sucked. The girlfriend constantly whined, "But you already watched it on Thursday! Why do you need to see it again?" (She now gets the credit card and the car of her choice on draft weekend and fantasy football draft days).
  11. Great point. He chose to do something stupid, so teams can choose to pass on him, costing him far more than a suspension would have. If I were Adams, I'd WISH I were a member of the union and had a contract in place. BA
  12. I believe it was the year after "Mercilus" and before "Blaine." BA I agree with this. Unlike alcohol, Marijuana is not physically addictive -- in some cases it can be mentally addictive. Most people can quit any time they wish. Just plain stupid on Mike Adams' part. BA
  13. We signed him for... Oh... I forget. But we offered him a lifetime association with our club! That's how we trapped the little rascal! BA
  14. Most lost their jobs in journalism and left the business. They are bitter and hate the world -- Exactly as I remember them 20 years ago. Society still "owes" them, ya know. BA "Ross Perot with a Fro!" BA
  15. Hopeful, I rather saw you as one of the classier posters on this board. Why come out with a weak "slam" without anything to back it up? Not your style. I decided to not listen to the pundits (who are wrong way more often than they're right) and make my entry different. To me, that's what this game was about -- not copying/following "conventional wisdom." Let's pretend I do "know how many times Bradford was sacked last year (36)" and that I'm not "kinda dreamin' " ... Let's say I look at football as a team sport. Aside from Indy and Washington, let's take a look at the three teams drafting in front of us which were sacked the most. St. Louis: Bradford/Feeley/Clemens: 55 Miami: Moore/Henne/Losman: 52 Minnesota: Ponder/McNabb/Webb: 49 Not a whole lot of difference, huh? In fact, there's only a three-sack difference between the Rams and Fins, and by many accounts OL is one of Miami's "stronger" units. Now, does this mean Miami is going to go OL in the first round? Probably not. Because they have a ton of needs, just like St. Louis. Minnesota has more pieces in place than St. Louis, and I can see them going WR. I have St. Louis picking Reiff at #10. Would that not be a practical pick for a team that's in serious rebuild mode? You're talking like they're "a player away." Let's look at the Rams' starting LT -- Rodger Saffold, who they selected at #33 overall in 2010. Last year he gave up 11 sacks, 4 hits and 17 hurries. Bad, yes. However, his rookie year was pretty good -- so much so that he was named starter and never relinquished that status. Take it for what it's worth, but The Sporting News thought he had a pretty darn good rookie year. To my knowledge, he hasn't been cut yet. How are we to know that Fischer hasn't identified him as a player who can fit with the right coaching tweaks? Oh, and the Rams OL ranked 28th last year. Some perspective: The Giants were ranked 31. Bradford isn't Manning -- but maybe he's not the franchise QB the Rams thought he was? Now, we get into your second point: << Rams get a chance to draft Kalil in addition to all that loot they hauled in for trading #2 Kalil's in a helmet with a shiny gold curl on it. >> Let's talk about this "loot." They slide back this year in the first and get an extra second rounder. That's it for this draft. How is that a lot of "loot" with regard to this particular draft? Sure, they'll have an additional first next year, and an additional first the year after, but when you have so many holes to fill, doesn't it make sense to pick up extra picks -- solid additions instead of going for a single elite player? Jeff Fischer, in his first year, wants to make a splash. The team is still horrid despite some off-season signings. While you could be right about them taking Kalil, there's no way to read Fischer's mind -- or draft board. If he rates Reiff highly, why not pull the trigger on that trade and gain a third second rounder and the second best OL (arguably) in this draft? Smart move by a rebuilding team imho. And I'm fully awake. BA
  16. Is Mr. Redundant related to Mr. Irrelevant? Or is redundancy simply irrelevant? BA
  17. That's the first thing that came to my mind after viewing this yesterday. BA
  18. Very well played. Ummmm... and you played that very well, too.
  19. But a potential trading partner for someone in front of them might. BA Unless you're Jacksonville. That situation's gonna get ugly. Dude took 40 sacks last year, and many were not pretty. He's a tackling dummy. BA
  20. It's also like watching a ball being hit forth and back. BA
  21. Our most pressing need is DE? BA
  22. They need a "sexy pick" like a "franchise QB" to get their "fan base" "excited" and take some heat off themselves due to their horrible offseason, inept GM and anemic roster. They'd almost have to trade to No. 3 to ensure he's the pick. Look at last year's draft and how quickly the QBs went. If he's still there at 6-7, either the Rams or Jaguars could easily trade out of that position for a team that wants Tannehill, leaving the Fish empty. I believe the Fish are (wrongfully) sold on Tannehill, and will do what's necessary to land him. That likely means moving ahead of the Browns. BA
  23. This is what a lot of people miss. They look at one player; not the overall picture. Say he's double or triple teamed by opponents. That alone makes him a HUGE part of the defense, even if he doesn't get to the QB, because Dareus/Williams/Anderson (maybe even Merriman) WILL. Even if it's not a sack, the QB easily could be forced into rushing the throw or fumbling with all that pressure. I don't care how many sacks Mario gets. I know that that we have other studs on that line who benefit greatly from his mere presence. That, in turn, boosts the entire defense -- which easily validates the signing and $$$$$$$$$, imho. BA
