Sanchez in talks to return to Eagles - update: signed
billstein22 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Doubt it will happen but I kind of hope Foles heads to the Jets in exchange for the #6 pick. I strongly doubt he's effective outside of Philadelphia. -
Predict the starting quarterback for week 1..
billstein22 replied to BillsFan130's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I bet it's Sanchez or Hoyer. I doubt we trade for Foles or Bradford. I can't imagine we go with EJ, after what we've seen thus far and the lack of encouraging words from Rex and co. -
I voted no, but I'm biased as I've watched footage of him playing football.

2006 draft do-over: Mario still goes #1
billstein22 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah, that comment makes zero sense. Mario is a great player that any team would be content with having picked #1 overall. -
EJ vs Derek Carr - perception
billstein22 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Because he was a first round pick (though 4th- or 5th-round talent) and they want to justify our front office making a laughably stupid decision in drafting him. They fail to realize that EJ is a sunk cost. -
A non-scientific look at the QBs of the 13 & 14 drafts
billstein22 replied to GunnerBill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Bridgewater was the best prospect coming into the 2014 draft. The general consensus among scouts was he was far and away the most complete and NFL-ready prospect in that class, until his pro day. I'm pretty sure the entire NFL world views the fact that the Browns passed up on him for Manziel is insane. Hell, I bet he's the only one of those quarterbacks who has a starting gig by the end of 2017. -
EJ vs Derek Carr - perception
billstein22 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Sometimes I wonder if those who think EJ Manuel might be the answer have ever watched any of his games. I realize that's a cliche put down, but I'm serious. Every time he throws the ball it's a roller coaster. Not just because he's so insanely inaccurate on difficult throws, but on the easy ones as well. Over the first few games of the season, Watkins and Woods both almost got destroyed on multiple occasions this year while making the most athletic plays possible to catch what should've been routine passes. Even at his most impressive moments (e.g., the comeback vs. Carolina, the season opener against Chicago) he was making throws that any QB in the league could've made. Can a QB really make substantial improvements to his accuracy at the professional level? I highly doubt it. And sadly, the numbers back these observations. They confirm what scouts and GMs thought of EJ prior to his arrival in Buffalo. EJ is a 4th or 5th round talent, but we expect more from him because our front office foolishly took him in the 1st round. Welp, huevos on our faces. Let's see if something else might work. -
If only we had a first round pick to waste on another RB. I guess a 2nd rounder will have to do.

What Level of QB Play is Required for 2015?
billstein22 replied to Flip Johnson's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah Dalton is definitely below Tanny and Smith in my mind...I would say we could make the playoffs with either of those guys, and possibly with Dalton or Orton level production again. Sadly, Hoyer or Sanchez might be our best bets, with Grayson or somebody else (who knows) in the draft to give us hope for the future. -
Do we draft a running back in round 2 or resign CJ?
billstein22 replied to Jmsbills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Neither? -
The first comment on the article totally nails it. Nobody knows what QBR measures. It might be good, it might be bad. But the formula has never been released and so it is meaningless. I'm not disagreeing with the results necessarily, but it's just lousy research if they're relying on an ESPN-created statistic that's never been made transparent to anyone outside of Bristol.

Calling my shot...
billstein22 replied to Tim Anderson's Lunch Pail's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I doubt it and I certainly hope not. Having an elite OL is far more important than going after an elite RB. -
Right, I was just posing the question as a hypothetical. I guess my point is that, if we were to use our top pick on a QB, we would essentially be saying goodbye to EJ, correct? Which I'm fine with, but it is a big move.

Is there any chance we spend a second round pick (our first pick) on a QB? I get the feeling we're addressing the OL through FA.

Bills 2014 End of Season Awards
billstein22 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is a great list. For me personally, the game winner to Watkins against the Vikings was my favorite play of the year. Of course, it's probably worth noting I missed the second half of the Packers game due to work. Most disappointing player could go to almost anyone outside of Wood on our OL. Maybe Cordy? It's a shame how bad the line has become since the Fitz days... Most disappointing game for me is the Chiefs game. I was in WNY during that one, but for an unrelated and very unfortunate reason (death of my best friend). His calling hours were that afternoon. Afterwards, all of our friends got together to watch the second half of the Bills game. It probably sounds stupid and maybe petty but we just wanted something good to happen that day, after all the sadness we'd experienced earlier on, and the game ended in baffling disappointment. Don't mean to be a downer but that's one afternoon I'll never forget. Anyhoo, I'd also give Schwartz coach of the year. Our entire defense was outstanding, kept us in basically every game, and made every one of those games relatively exciting. And I second Robert Woods as unsung hero...he's a great #2. The "televised" primetime game vs. the Jets was unreal. Overall, the team played better than I thought they would. I predicted 7 wins and they got 9. For the first time in a while, I'm optimistic about next season. -
Predict the starting quarterback for week 1..
billstein22 replied to BillsFan130's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It definitely will not be EJ. There's no way we don't go after a FA and draft a QB this year. Nobody outside of this board has any faith in EJ, and rightfully so. -
Agree with everything you said 100%.

I actually didn't see this coming, but maybe it's a good thing. We're probably going after Bradford or Cutler in the offseason. I think either one would be a significant upgrade from EJ. Need to sign a couple guards first, though.
