  1. Another "take it for what it's worth" post: I was hanging out with a buddy recently who knows someone in the organization that was in the Bills war room for the 2007 draft. According to this guy, Ralph was hot on Wright and no one else was including Levy. Fast forward to mid-season last year, the same guy relates to my friend that Wright's work ethic was very questionable and everyone was down on him. If that stuff is true (again - grain of salt here folks, it's someone on the internet telling a sotry that was told through a friends friend) I wouldn't be suprised to see Wright as a camp cut.
  2. No, not really. But I still read it occasionally, and it still riles me up. Their reporting on just about anything is dubious. I will never forget the article that chastised fans of metal and hard rock for "liking the way it sounds" as if there are far more compelling reasons to appreciate MUSIC. Fair enough. Assuming what was reported wasn't all total exaggerations, it was kinda reminiscent of Scientology.
  3. Taibbi is a sad Hunter S. Thompson wanna be. I'm no fan of wacko evangelicals either, but everytime he writes about something he begins by insulting the subjects which immediately removes any notion of neutrality. You know 2 lines into the story what his conclusion is going to be. It's not journalism, it's OpEd.
  4. This weeks comic at Penny Arcade seems oddly poignant: http://www.penny-arcade.com/comic/
  5. Believe me, this one is a contender. It was pretty bad. At the same time, it was a watchable, mildly entertaining movie. Just not a good Indiana Jones movie. The story was weak and underdeveloped. Spielberg asks audience to not only suspend disbelief but also common sense (see: Nuke scene). CGI is great in movies, but it can't replace good writing. Just because you can make an impossible situation possible by manipulating pixels doesn't mean you get to avoid any sort of plausibility in the scene. Oh, and Ewoks. Well, not really, but close enough (small furry CGI animals save the day ). If you see the movie you'll know which part I'm talking about.
  6. Tom kinda sums up my thoughts pretty well, at least in the belief that Obama will be more likely to unite. McCain doesn't really scare me per se, but I'm just not convinced that he is capable of doing anything remarkable in terms of taking the country in the right direction. Policy-wise we kinda know what we are getting. I don't think either will stray too far from their particular party lines. I think Obama might be the better choice from the 'green' perspective in funding research to help our addiction to fossil fuels. Don't get me wrong, I'm no global warming alarmist, but the political climate (no pun intended) is ripe to get more dollars into R&D for more efficient and cost effective solar collection, fusion, and better batteries. I think that being the leader in this kind of tech will (for a while anyway) keep us near the top of the food chain. If it happens to be better for the environment too, so be it.
  7. I just don't understand the hatin' on Howard. I can understand why people don't like Schoop. He seems to despise the Bills and can be quite rude to callers that simply disagree with him.
  8. Have any links to stories substantiating any of that? As far as I can tell the only public comments he has made about NASA are that he wants to delay one program and divert funds to education. But he similarly supports other NASA programs. Same with his chatter vs. website. I don't see anything there terribly out of whack (or at all?) with what I hear him say in campaign speeches. That being said - I don't really expect too much from any politician, so when I see one who seems to lie on a full order of magnitude less than his opposition, I'm at least intrigued.
  9. Sh*t... maybe the MLB helicopters that hover over my house will crash into the NSA ones. Two blackbirds, one stone.
  10. With that comment you probably just made some other list...
  11. Techinically, no it isn't. You are right about that. http://politicalwire.com/archives/2007/09/...in_florida.html http://miamiherald.typepad.com/nakedpoliti...ry-clinton.html But I think this snippet sums it all up quite nicely: Guests were asked to bring $1 to $5, technically making the event a fundraiser that is exempt from the Democratic field's pledge not to campaign in Florida. "The money was not the focus, but that's the way we had to do it,'' Bird said. "The whole idea was to have some holiday fun. Everybody brought a dish to share and we got to listen to a fabulous candidate." That tells me everyone knew it was campaigning, with a nod and a wink at least. Spirit of the law vs. letter of the law kinda thing.
  12. Nobody dropped off the FL ballot. Even the candidates who droped out of the race. Not really sure why. Clinton did campaign in FL though, against everyones wishes. Of course she said it wasn't campaigning, but that was about as good of an excuse as the "I'm not smoking, my cigarette is..." line that I used to give to my teachers.
  13. Have you seen the sales numbers from the albums he has produced?
  14. She was against it before she was for it.
  15. Is supporting McCain mutually exclusive to wanting foreign oil independence or alternative energy sources? I'm guessing he has the same standard Republican ties to big oil, but even hardline right-wingers are starting to come around to the notion that we need to start doing business differently if we wish to survive.
  16. Well you got that part right. Way to miss the point. Obama ins't complaining about who or who does not vote for him. Clinton and her people do. Get it? Again - she doesn't have more popular votes. She doesn't have more pledged deligates. She doesn't have more superdeligates. She loses by every metric. So yeah, if she did somehow get the nod, she would be stealing it. Don't worry though PJ - she won't get it. He took his name off the ballot because it was the right thing to do. All of the other candidates did it as well. Except for the one shady one. I suppose they all knew Clitnon was gonna win though, right? Which begs the question, if they knew the will of the voters, why even bother to run against Clinton? Why have an election at all? Everyone in the Democratic party obviously wanted her to be president. And by everyone I mean the minority of voters, deligates and superdeligates. Your horse lost. It's over.
  17. Archuletta has a far better natural singing voice. Cook will sell more albums. I can't stand DA's fake, Melinda Doolittle-esqe "me? really?" routine. More than that though, I can't stand DC's singing style and the constant slurring and breathiness. They both seem like decent people though.
  18. Sure she does. I don't think anyone on the planet has questioned her 'right' to remain in the race. If anything it shows that Obama supporters are rational compared to Clinton supporters. To be a registered Democrat and vote Republican because the candidate with a d1ck beat the one with the v@g is fcking retarded. It means the gender or race of a president is more important than policy, considering that Clinton and Obama are pretty damn close in terms of issues and policy.
  19. I would support that 100%.
  20. I'm an out-of-the-closet Def Leppard fan. This is counting only material recorded prior to Hysteria.
  21. Nor should it. But lets use some math and play around with the whole FL & MI nonsense. FL & MI had a total of 1,775,509 votes in play. The the total vote lead for Obama is 441,558 (not counting FL & MI). If we take the 1,775,509 and split it up between the 2 candidates using Clinton's largest margin of victory (WV at 67.0 %) that makes the split in favor of Clinton 17,397,578 to 17,235,463. Not a huge lead and that is assuming she would win those states by the WV %. Now looking at reality - she didn't even win by that % when she was the only candidate on the ballot. Hell -She almost lost to undecided! If you use the average % in all of the elections to calculate what would have been the likely voter response and turnout had MI & FL played by the rules, common sense tells us Obama would be in front. This popular vote talk is fckin nonsense. It's a sore loser playing on emotion and trying to change the rules with 10 seconds left in the games. Pathetic. Edit : I'd even be up for a re-vote knowing it would shut up this popular vote drivel in a heartbeat, but the overall point is, the Dem's are right in punishing MI & FL for being turds. Capitulating at this point will only serve to encourage more a$$-hatery down the road.
  22. Do you ever stop drinking the Kool-Aid long enought to check your facts against reality? http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/20...vote_count.html
  23. Anyone care to do a quick summary for those of us who have the links blocked at work?
  24. She is dead/in a different time instance. That's my guess.
  25. Yeah, from the bit of it that I heard it's all bad.
