While I'm not opposed like I used to be (to UHC) it's the hard handed approach and the implementation itself I disagree with. And I've read a few of the supporting arguments in cases where it's been upheld, and the logic is pretty specious. Along the lines of "well it's important and it affects all 50 states, therefore, the Feds get to regulate it".

I realize the Feds abuse the interstate commerce clause for a good many things, some that appear to be valid, others not so much. But I'm having a hard time understanding what part of the 14th supports the health care mandate (the recent decision notwithstanding). Could someone explain, even in vague terms how the commerce clause is being cited to support this?

It wasn't too bad if you were lucky enough to see it on TV. Might have a different opinion had I been at the game though.

The point is this: If they were stating that the team as a whole isn't better in spite of the fact that the offense has improved, that's a perfectly reasonable argument. But from what I've read (and perhaps someone who heard the dialogue in question can confirm) they were simply stating that the offense hasn't improved, which is ludicrous. It's not a matter of being a homer, it's simply not true. The offense has improved both statistically and also in a more subjective manner (in that they're far more entertaining to watch).

No additional advice - just my sympathy. Never easy.

It's that time of year again: I don't know how many of you are familiar with the Child's Play charity: http://www.childsplaycharity.org/ It was started by the guys who run www.penny-arcade.com in hope of getting video games to sick kids stuck in the Hospital. Well, they have added Women and Childrens Hospital of Buffalo to the list (I think possibly due in part to an email I sent a while ago [/selfbackpattingoff]). If you go there it will take you to a "wish list" on Amazon.com where you can make a purchase that will be sent directly to the hospital So come on Buffalonian's and Gamers, show 'em what you got and make a sick kid forget about his ailment for 10 minutes with a game of NHL 11....! (Sticky this if possible...) EDIT: One thing to note - If you aren't from the WNY area, many, many other hospitals in many, many other regions participate in Child's Play as well! /Commandant Lassard....

You know there are plenty of conservatives and Republicans (myself very much included) that think she is a dolt and unfit for the office of POTUS. You don't have to be a liberal or Democrat to hold that opinion.

You don't want to trust them with anything important though. Maybe you get someone with a year to live, they make the 6 month trip, land, plug a few things in and die. But you've got some groundwork laid for the next set of visits.
