  1. "Spikes is close with new Bills defensive line coach Pepper Johnson, a longtime Patriots assistant who coached linebackers the past two years. Johnson certainly would know what the Bills were getting with Spikes." Regardless of anything else, I would think that Johnson knows a great deal more than Smerlas about a player who he's coached for the last two years, yet that was more of a drive by comment, and not really critical analysis. I think that it would warrant more than 1 line, and I'm not even in the anti-TG crowd.
  2. Pats are a bunch of douches. Douches that win. I'll take him.
  3. Interesting, wasn't aware of that. They weren't the primary occupants thought right? Maybe a few floors like the Canadian Consulate or Phyllips/Little?
  4. Actually, Buffalo has a reasonably strong IT community ("reasonably" being relative to the rest of the economy - obviously we're no Silicon Valley). CTG, Cynacore, Yahoo, and other firms have either their headquarters or a strong presence in WNY. Also, there are decent number of back office IT jobs in banking and health care, not to mention other industries. Lastly, I'm not aware of IBM ever having a significant footprint in the Marine Midland/HSBC/One Seneca building, aside from a small number of contractors who supported the various banking related occupants. (edit - which isn't to say they weren't, I'm just not aware...)
  5. Yeah, I'm not interested in defending Islam. I'm no fan for the exact reasons you've cited. It's just the the logic used in the OP is rather silly.
  6. Or just about any religion. "How do you know that the bible is true?" Because God said so. In the bible...
  7. I do like that it presupposes that everyone was totally familiar with Gabriel. "Oh yeah, Mohammed? What was he wearing? Jeans from Express you say? Ha! You're a total liar. We all know the angel Gabriel shops at Chess King exclusively..."
  8. A conservative shouldn't have any particular qualms with pot being legal. Yes, there are downsides both long and short term, but not so much that the cost to the individual or society outweigh the cost of enforcement.
  9. Hahahahahahahaha. Oh wait, you weren't serious, were you?
  10. Is it me or have the Pats gotten away with one glaringly obvious hold (during the play Mankins got hurt) and two illegal blocks?
  11. Doesnt own a watch..
  12. Summers was great today. EJ got better as the game went on. His first 4 or 5 passes were atrocious. After that, he got better. No offense, but you don't get to define what constitutes a true fan.
  13. We met him on the flight back to Buffalo this morning. Seemed nice enough. Funny because he acted despondent about the whole thing and it made me think he might be more of a fan than he lets on in his column.
  14. Isn't Bon jovi friends/partners in some capacity with Trump? IIRC Trump is close with Jimbo, and I recall the Don once expressed an interest in owning the Bills. Might be something there...
  15. That was exactly the legislation to which I was referring.
  16. Varies from state to state. It's a misdemeanor in NY.
  17. I swear you people are daft if you believe that the presence of pom poms will make any noticeable difference in the noise level on the field. You know who bangs on seats and make the most noise during games? The 52K people who have wet Pom poms under their seats.
  18. You're choosing to ignore the point. Hundreds of thousands (yes hundreds of thousands) of people are blacked out who either live more than 100 miles away (don't believe me? Google the populations of Syracuse, Utica, Rome, etc.) or have health issues, etc. You keep saying those who "choose" not to go, but for many it isn't a viable choice. And I'll characterize your remarks as I believe your tone indicates. Dont like it? Welcome to the Internet.
  19. Funny, that didn't seem at all like the point you were trying to make originally. Also, lets again not forget the elderly, the infirm, and all manner of others who live near Buffalo, but cannot go to the game for a variety of reasons, and yet still pay taxes that help fund the operation. No, it's just easier to declare "go to the game you lazy cheap fat ass blah blah LoL...".
  20. Aside from the one drop and maybe a penalty, I don't recall Chandler being bad yesterday. Average maybe, but not bad. Of course I was at the game, and it can be difficult to evaluate someone without the benefit of being able to see it on TV. Did I miss something in his performance?
  21. In addition to the preposterous actual range of the blackout as you've noted, there are a non-trivial amount of people that simply cannot attend the game for a variety of legitimate reasons. People whose tax dollars have funded the Bills being here. In short, I think any pro-sports organization that rely's on public funding should not be blacked out.
  22. Yeah, another good suggestion. Basically the same as Duff's in OP (I think it's the same owners, and the menu is very similar). Great "hiring practices" too.
  23. Bunch of places really. Big Tree Inn next to stadium in OP (one of my personal favorites as the likelihood of seeing a former Bill on a Saturday before a home game is very high) Danny's South next to stadium in OP Buffalo Wild Wings in Hamburg Duffs in Orchard Park Mamosers in Hamburg Rockpile in Orchard Park (although I'm not too certain if it's open again or not) Tailgaters and O'Neils (also right next to stadium in OP) All have sufficient TV's for watching college football, although not all of them are technically "sports bars".
  24. Because its the only sourced report he's had in months. Sorry, couldn't resist.
