I think it started when they delisted it as a mental illness. I mean, if you want to eschew gender norms that are effectively a societal construct, fine. You do you and I won't judge. When that crosses a line into denying your biology (edge cases like hermaphrodites notwithstanding) then it transitions (😂 no pun intended) into mental illness. It's no different than the people who think their foot feels weird and have it purposely amputated.

I'm curious; aside from not wanting to fund mutilating kids under 18 (once you hit 18 vote, buy a gun, get a tattoo or your dick cut off, I don't give a flying *****) what exactly is the current administration doing to come after people who identify as trans? Telling them they can't play girls sports? Having them stick to the right bathrooms? I mean what are they actually doing that meaningfully impacts their lives?

I can tell who is a veteran and who isn't. Picking up trash is the norm. With that being said, If I were a national guardsman and I got activated to pick up trash, getting paid like ***** and being away from my normal job I'd be pretty goddamn pissed off. I'm not opposed to the concept of using troops to secure violent areas with the hopes of swarming to temporarily decrease crime, but it's not a sustainable long term strategy. It's certainly going to negatively impact retention.
