  1. Clear marketing ploy by Russ, just trying to sell more blue pants.
  2. Please lawd, let me get through just 1 game without getting hurt.
  3. Step into my office...because you're f@!#ing fired!!
  4. Had Orton thrown a better pass he would not have been called for IG. Sammy's route appeared to be a post-->flag double move. Orton just needed to throw it 5-10 yards further than he did. So while the call was close and I wasn't happy about it, I can see why they called it. The PI on Gilmore was complete BS. Every nfl game has questionable calls or non calls against both teams. We as fans skew them based on the team we root for. Saying the refs were the reason we lost this game is watching the game through blue and red glasses. Fact of the matter is we just aren't a very good team. We have a lot of talent but just don't know how to win. Off topic...I found it interesting that on the post game show that even Deion pointed out that our offense is very predictable.
  5. He was a surprise inactive to me. Especially with Sammy's groin, Woods' back and the fact that Goodwin gets hurt in just about every game...this one included. Maybe Orton really doesn't like him.
  6. It's a team game but Orton missed 3 TDs with bad throws. He over threw Chandler & Woods and way under threw Sammy. He hits any of those, the fumbles don't matter and we win the game. I do question the redzone plays. We kept driving down the field and once we got into the redzone, we got away from the plays that got us there. Makes no sense to me. That being said, it's not time to go back to EJ. This was a typical Bills game. We snatched a loss from the jaws of victory. We're just not good enough to overcome so many poor plays.
  7. You should have pulled up the "caption this" thread regarding the training camp argument with Marrone & Brandon and asked his take. That would have been some interesting insight lol. Thanks for posting. That's some great stuff.
  8. Spot on. I interpreted his laughing as trying to coach up Sammy and nothing more. So far this year I think he's been a rather mature leader of the WRs.
  9. I disagree with the OP that Brown should get a chance to start. Fred should be the starter and get the majority of the carries. He’s proven that he deserves that. CJ should be the change of pace back as I feel he’d have a better shot of breaking the long one after Fred has softened the defense up. Brown is probably more talented than Boobie as a RB but Boobie offers a lot more on special teams so he deserves to be active as well. Until an injury hits one of the top 3 or we just have so many injuries at other positions, Brown will never be active and in my opinion doesn’t deserve to be. I agree with mrags and others who think that watching CJ run up the middle for a short gain on 1st and 2nd down leaving us with 3rd and 6+ is frustrating…especially when we see Fred consistently get 4-5 yards in the same situation as CJ gets 2. I think CJ’s 4 ypc this season and 5 ypc career averages are kind of misleading for how effective he really is as a RB. If he had any vision at all, he’d average way more than that. Fred’s bobbin’ and weavin’ run through traffic last week (I think it was for like 14 yards) was a thing of beauty and is the perfect example of why I think he should start or at least get more carries. CJ would have gotten maybe 3 yards out of that play. Call it an excuse if you want but to run sweeps and screens you need o-lineman (typically guards) that can get out in front of them and we just don’t have anyone that can do that very well. I think that really prohibits the use of those types of plays for CJ or any of our other backs. If the other 10 guys can’t execute them, they’ll rarely work. I’d like to see us line CJ up out wide and run a bubble screen to him there with a TE and WR to block for him. If we can get him in space with blockers, he can be dynamic. Problem is, we don’t really have the oline to do that.
  10. Technically he’s Kiko’s backup…but he’s played so well so far this year that it’s likely when Kiko comes back, Bradham will take over Rivers’ starting spot.
  11. They've basically built this team around EJ so I think they have to play him all 16 games (assuming he's healthy) in order to find out what they really have in him.
  12. I’m sure we have someone else on this team that can do a Steve Spurrier impression. http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/yahoo-sports-minute/tim-tebow-does-steve-spurrier-impression-014337260.html Oh you meant to play QB?!?!?! Oh, resounding hell no. HALLELUJAH!!! Dean Cain!! HALLELUJAH!!
  13. Why all this love for Cousins??? It would be like the Rob Johnson trade all over again!!
  14. I've seen the story about the high school coach that does this and it works for them. This isn’t a high school team…we’re like a D3 college team at worst!!!
  15. Don't whisper, you bring up some good points. Calling our offense hurry up is misleading because we weren’t running a 2 minute drill all the time; we simply didn’t get into a conventional huddle after most plays. I believe that we often snapped the ball with less than 15 seconds left on the play clock but I wasn’t able to find any stats to back that up, just my recollection. Instead we’d do what I’ve heard announcers call bubble huddles which is getting up to the line and calling plays there. Doing that prevents the defense from making substitutions. If we do that and can put a longer drive together, the defense will be tired. The problem we often ran into was lack of execution but I don’t think that really had anything to do with not doing a conventional huddle. I don’t think we really know what Hackett can do yet. I think he was severely handcuffed by what the players could execute. Injuries leading to the constant rotation of mostly inexperienced players prevented the team from getting any kind of rhythm as the season went on. It limited the teams/players progression and didn’t allow him to get as creative as he may have normally been able to. The one thing that stands out in my mind that I really didn’t like about his play calling was how often we ran the shotgun runs up the gut on 3rd and 1. I can see it once in awhile in that situation or even on 3rd and 3 but we did it way too often when we only needed a yard. If we’re going to be a run heavy team, put the beef in there and plow forward for that yard. With EJ’s injury concerns, I’d also like to basically scrap the read option.
  16. The guy was our best player of the 2000s, at least you could spell his name right. Maybe we should have been drafting punters instead of kickers these past few years.
  17. Agreed. If EJ goes down for a few games, we'll need someone to back up his backup. Even if that guy is on the PS and can be called up.
  18. I visit often on a daily basis while I'm at work but only occasionally when I’m not. Model employee, I know.
  19. I agree but unfortunately, I don’t see any way around it. I just don’t see someone coming in and learning the offense in less than 2 weeks. Looks like Thad Fitzpatricked us. He played just good enough over a short period of time to make us think he was the real deal.
  20. I don't think so many would be down on Tuel if he were the 3rd string, developmental, scout team QB that he should be and should have been last season. He was nowhere near ready to play in a real game last year and it showed. Due to those bad performances, many on this board will never like him. He could turn into a pretty good backup and in 5 years people will still bring up the KC game. He’s no worse than Gale Gilbert or Gibran Hamden or Stan Gelbaugh or many of the other 3rd stringers we’ve had over the years. Some better play calling in the KC game, we get at least a field goal and probably win. Had that happened, the feelings on Tuel may be completely different.
  21. This expected signing is reminiscent of the Matt Leinart signing last year. I’d be surprised if he made the final 53 but I think that really depends on who else is available after the final cuts. Also, I don’t see Ponder getting cut. If we want him, we have to trade for him.
  22. Thanks for the recap OP. I though CJ looked good on a couple of his runs where he was able to find a hole without having to bounce it outside. That was definitely a fumble by him though, not an INT. The o-line was out of synch all day and it really handicapped what the offense could do. Penalties are very often drive killers and it was no exception on Saturday. Glenn gets a pass since he is just working his way back in. Henderson does too since he’s a rookie and this was his 1st start at RT. I am definitely worried about the 2 guards though. I’m holding out hope that we’ll get 5 guys in there that can gel when it counts. I thought the Bucs d-lineman was touched down on that fumble recovery they called a TD. There were a lot of questionable or flat out bad calls in this game. I guess it’s preseason for the zebras too. I liked that EJ brought the offense together on the sideline to try and rally them in the 2nd quarter. I would have liked to hear what he said and how he said it because when he was done, Fred went off. It left me wondering if Fred thought EJ’s message was not good enough or was he just pissed and wanted to add to it. Either way, it does show me that EJ is a leader, just maybe not a fiery one. I think we need to find someone else besides Goodwin for kick returns. He got hurt again when he was blasted on a kick return. How many games is it now that he hasn’t been able to finish because of injury? I think we need his speed on offense so we need to make sure he’s available when that time comes. He’s fearless and that’s usually a good thing except when it consistently leads to injuries. He does us no good on the sideline. Overall, many of our issues in the game were self inflicted and appear to be correctable. In the 1st half we were running the same basic plays over and over again. It was nice to see us come out in the 2nd half and run some different ones. I don’t expect the same vanilla calls by Hackett against Chicago.
  23. Great foresight. I never thought it would happen. He better hang onto the ball a little tighter though.
