I am so sick of hearing/reading things like this. It is year #1 of the offensive staff and our mostly inexperienced players working together. Right now, we are still installing the basic offense at the pace the players can handle, which is kind of slow. If they are struggling to carry out the basic plays, what makes anyone think they'll do better with more creativity? IMO that will only lead to more confusion. Gotta learn to walk before we run. As they gain experience together and assuming the players progress, Daboll should be able to open things up and try new things. Don't be surprised if that doesn't happen this season. Also, stats may not lie but they sure can be manipulated to achieve a desired outcome. Nice write up OP, thanks for posting.

TD Mike looking for a job again

He was a Whaley guy so doesn't that automatically exclude him from the process? Roll with Murphy. -

Another interesting off the field issue with Bills ties. All part of the process...builds mental toughness. -

It's something a lot teams do. I think sometimes it's just for a practice body. -
What is or was your expectations for 2018
Maybe Someday replied to bills in oregon's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
My expectations in August were about 5 to 7 wins. Once we traded McCarron, they dropped to about 3-4 wins. I was really hoping Allen wouldn't get his 1st start until about December because we have so little talent on offense. Now I just hope to see a steady improvement from him as the season goes along. 2 steps forward, 1 step back is OK with me as long as the reason for the steps back don't repeat. This season is all about developing any young talent we do have. We are in a rebuild. The upcoming offseason will be one of the most important we've seen in a long time. -
GB vs Bills: Caption this
Maybe Someday replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I am so blaming McCarthy for this in the post game presser. -
Why does this keep coming up??? Isn't Bell basically untradeable under the current circumstances? Until he signs that franchise tender, he is not under contract with the Steelers so they cannot just trade him to a team of their choosing, he would have to agree. He also cannot sign a long term contract with any team until the start of the new league year. So why would he agree to any trade only to be in the same situation with a different team? They can promise him a certain long term deal behind closed doors but if he gets hurt, they would back out of that in a minute. Even if I thought the Bills trading for him was a good idea (I do not) I don't think we currently have the cap room to make it happen. His remaining tag amount has got to be over $10M and what do we have, like $8M?

Bills' Fan Gets an Allen Hurdle Tattoo
Maybe Someday replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's McD. The tatoo artist said he told him "Rex ain't got nothin on me!" Also said it would have come out better but coach wouldn't stop clapping. -
Oakland, where failed Bills QB careers end
Maybe Someday replied to Albany,n.y.'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
When you've had as many failed QBs as we've had, the probability of a few ending up on the same team over the years probably isn't that high. I wouldn't be surprised if a few other teams have had more than one of our failed QBs on their roster at some point as well. -
What is your favorite positive Peterman play?
Maybe Someday replied to Bing Bong's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Playoff game in Jax, TT gets injured, 3rd down late in the game, picks up a huge 1st down with his legs. That and the TD in the snow are literally the only 2 good plays I can even remember. -
Dolphins sign Nick O’Leary to practice squad
Maybe Someday replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm thinking it's because he was only on the active roster for 4 games his rookie year so that didn't count toward a fully accrued season. -
Possible we use Allen like Ravens use Jackson?
Maybe Someday replied to buffaloboyinATL's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Confusing to me because Jackson's athleticism adds a multi-dimensional aspect that Allen doesn't. I expect to see both Jackson and Flacco on the field at the same time to open up the double pass and other trickeration. Maybe Jackson comes in for a play here and there to run the Wildcat. None of that would work with Allen. In our case it wouldn't be having a package for Allen so much as it would be benching your starting QB for a series in the middle of a competitive game. I don't think you do that in the NFL...not with the QB. The QB needs to be a leader and stay on the field unless he's hurt. You either bench Peterman for Allen or let Peterman roll. Game in hand one way or the other and we want to get the rookie some reps, fine. Hail Mary situation and we need Allen's arm to get it there, fine. -
One of the key things that I take from this article is that Groy is more stout in pass protection so the pocket is less likely to collapse than when Bodine is in there. Being able to step up into the pocket is a big deal, especially with a young QB. Again it's mentioned that one of the potential "issues" with Groy starting is his ability to be the swing backup, saving a roster spot on Sunday. Do we have anyone else that can play multiple positions? Can Bodine play guard? Can Teller, Vlad or Miller play center? Even if only to finish out a game.

At home. My favorite is when I can bring a TV outside on my back deck and watch the game with a few friends. I did the Bills backer bar in Charlotte, NC for a few years but it got to be too much effort and too expensive as well. I prefer to just be at home on my time with my good beer and food at a fraction of the cost.

Can we afford to carry 3 active QB’s all season?
Maybe Someday replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Peterman is the camp brain. There's been quite a few guys that had 10+ year careers based on smarts over physical ability. Wouldn't be surprised if we kept him just to help Allen. -

QB rumors about importance of concussions in choices
Maybe Someday replied to KingRex's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't believe concussions had anything to do with TT being traded. He clearly wasn't McD's long term solution so while the subject may have come up, his overall performance, lack of upside and most importantly the 1st pick of the 3rd round are why he's gone. I can however see that being more of a consideration in taking Allen over Rosen...assuming they had roughly the same grade on them. You want the guy that wants to play for 15+ years. Any concerns that Rosen won't tips the scales toward Allen. -
Totally agree on your 1st 2 points and hope that Allen is finally the guy to do that. As for Romo, the point I was trying to make was that I think he has a really good idea of what's going on as far as play development and situational football, especially compared to any other broadcaster. He played in a few different systems that are still being used in today's NFL so I also think he has a decent idea of what the progressions at least should be. On that 3rd and 3 play I referenced, Thompson was standing just past the marker with no one around him...maybe 10-15 yards away from QB. TT had plenty of time to go through whatever the progressions were, appeared to turn his head toward the wide open guy but he still didn't throw the ball. On that play, in that situation, do you really need to know the play call or progressions to know TT should have thrown him the ball? I also think that if a DB was there trying to bait him, Romo would have called it out...especially with how many times they showed the replay due to TT's injury.
-
Not the sole reason we lost but I think TT was the main reason. Missed too many throws and probably should have run more. Plays were there to be made and he didn't make them. Play calling definitely didn't help. As far as announcers...I would almost always agree with you but I thought Tony Romo was pretty good with seeing what's going on and calling it like it is. He predicted quite a few plays and defenses all year. I thought he was going to lose his mind on the play TT got hurt. Thompson was open, TT appeared to look at him but didn't throw it.
