Howard Balzer dropped the H Bomb on the Pats

Well, what are you hanging around here for? Start a "Boomer sucks" thread! -
"I crush your head."

But you see it was the same gadget fake pitch play that the Steelers had just done. Mularkey could not resist the opportunity to show off that it was in his playbook too. Amazing job to get something out of that reverse that was pretty well blown up as well...

Anyone catch the Bills 2006 Season Kick Off Show?

Strap it to the roof, duh! -
From the wife: MySQL queries are normally humongous. If you have a query that returns one record from a MySQL table, the query size in memory can easily be the size of the entire table. I hit those ceilings frequently. Restarting MySQL will not lose any performance data - that is wrong. In fact, periodically stopping (resting) then restarting it will clear out old temp files and broken inodes/pointers to help it run faster. Not something you want to do constantly - but definitely not harmful. However, the amount of time your sql daemons are running is of concern -- it is possible that your code does not disconnect from SQL. Many, many programs connect but fail to disconnect because MySQL will disconnect automatically. And www programmers are accustomed to a state-based architecture, expecting everything about the page delivery to dissolve once it has been accomplished. MySQL, however, hangs onto an open connection for a longer-than-necessary period of time. The fact that your mysql processes are in 'pause' supports that theory. Check your code for that. There are a few excellent guides if you google for tweak MySQL (note tweak - not tune) and mytop is a handy tool to keep an eye on the SQL load and what it might be doing. On the other hand, unless you're hitting the 'mysql - too many connections' error or your drive is thrashing, you really have nothing to actively worry about Hope that helps, -- Loy (fellow www admin)

According to the NFLPA web site his contract currently goes through 2007.

Dang, the guy should retire. That way, he'd have the most no-hits per starts in MLB history. Besides, he threw 103 pitches. Isn't that a season's worth for starters these days? -
Maroney wasn't listed on the injury report...at least the one on the Bills' web site. Great job, as usual, Lori. Thanks.

Bring it...I'm ready. *clink

And, keeping the 3 year old tradition alive, Tom Brady tops the Patriots injury list as "questionable" with a "shoulder injury." More importantly, I notice Moroney's not on the list http://www.buffalobills.com/team/injury.jsp -

Squabble between Pats, Branch gets messier
Dan Gross replied to SuperBills12's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
So you're talking the difference between $14M and $23M over the next three years, correct? That might be a "little bit" for rich folks like yourself, but for someone who will be making most of his career money over the next few years, I'd say that's a significant difference. Yes, the clock is ticking, but it's ticking in both directions. He's "hot" now, what's saying he'll be "hot" in three years? He'll be at worst three more years removed from being a "Super Bowl MVP"... That's what I was saying....and of course that's all besides the point that if he took the Pats deal he'd be playing against us this weekend. -
Squabble between Pats, Branch gets messier
Dan Gross replied to SuperBills12's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Really? How so? According to this article, he was offered a 3 year, $18.75M extension to his contract by the Patriots. This means he still plays this year at $1.045 million + potentially some signing bonus money, for a potential total of $20M over the next 4 years. According to the above-linked article, he was offered "a six-year, $39 million deal that included $13 million in combined bonuses and would have paid him about $23 million over the first three years." Yeah, if you take the Pats extension amount and double it (3 years versus 6), it's about the same amount of dollars, but if you are looking at it from how much he will receive now (which a player always has to consider, because there's no guarantee that he'll still be playing in three years...), the Seattle deal is much more lucrative. All other things equal, $23M over 3 years is much better than $20M over 4. It's not as much a matter of how much as when... -
Yup. Toward the bottom: There's this thing called google. You put in phrases like NFL scouts "training camp" "charge admission" and the link above comes up as the first option. Don't trust everything it gives you as gospel, but if it's an article on NFL.com, I think it can be trusted....See GG for more details on how to use this tube-based tool...

Belichick actually talked about this in a presser or interview recently. He says that playbooks aren't worth a lot for a lot of the reasons already listed. They tend to have 5x the number of plays a team will use, generally aren't organized by down-and-distance, so while you can know the plays it's knowing when those plays will be run (and what nuances the players put into those plays...who does their job/who doesn't) that makes the difference. And he did have a good point this week in saying that a player like Fast Freddie will be busy enough getting up to speed on the Pats' playbook in order to be able to produce this weekend. Will they know more about the Bills than they would have had they not signed Smith? Sure, but I wouldn't put too much weight on it.

This is just a placeholder for now. You know that this weekend he may likely say something smarmy about the Bills, so I just wanted to make sure I created the first Bob Costas sucks thread. Of course if he says only nice things about the Bills, then I will change the thread title, but for now, since he's part of that evil conglomerate known as the "National Sportscasters" we will assume he's part of the "Anti-Bills Conspiracy." Besides, it's not about who's good, it's about who sucks...
