OT - try this while sitting at your desk

Must be. I can too, and I'm a fair-to-middlin' drummer. B) Either that, or you're an 11-7 right brain. -
[OT] Best way to register a domain name?
Dan Gross replied to Rubes's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There are differences. Some of the cheaper sites (I don't think GoDaddy is one) will actually "own" the domain. The big difference is if you either need to switch registrars for some reason, or if you have issues with the domain. Basically, the customer service after the fact varies, and issues of domain name ownership may come up. AFAIK GoDaddy is decent. Here's a site with a bunch of registrar ratings: http://www.buy-the-domain-name.com/rate_registrar/index.php Bottom line: send SDS $100, and he'll take care of it for you. -
Google's been doing that for a long time... Now if you want to go back in the "wayback machine," there's always the Oracle. Best of link here: http://cgi.cs.indiana.edu/~oracle/bestofs.cgi

WNYTBDGPS Meeting On Friday - High Noon
Dan Gross replied to Mark VI's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I usually take "Broad/Brown St. Exit." At the 2nd light you take the "left-most right," (Route 31). Nick's is the big brick building at the next light (Main St). You can turn into the rear parking lot before the light (right behind the building), or, if you miss it, take the right on Main and turn right into the parking lot (just past the building) from there. This map should help edify...(You exit onto Allen St.) -
Fastest "thank you Scott" I've been able to post yet! Does the 11 count our interim, "slower" server?

Can't wait to get started...It's a great time of the year. We're in a "great football area, here in Buffalo." Anybody that was waived of interest? Probably not initially. Satisfied with roster and practice squad. Personnel is an everyday thing and we'll tweak the roster, but we're set for now. Thoughts leaving pre-season. Feels good. When we have struggled, we've been our worst enemy. Penalties, sloppiness on special teams. We are turning the football over on defense. Offensively we are controlling the ball, avg 33 minutes possession, avg 137 yards rushing. Offensive line will continue to get better (understands that's a big concern for everyone) Why do you feel confident? It's a combo. Even in the past when we've struggled protecting the QB, we've had great run blockers. You don't get 1400+ yards without that. We need to feature that running game more. Problem with passing game last year was we weren't on the same page. We are this year. Wish the line had more time together. Due to starting O-Line not playing togethere, are games one and two "extended pre-season?" Don't want to look at it that way, but initially we may not be able to do everything we want to on offense. Bottom line is that if you can't block for the runner and QB you won't win. On Mularkey does not act like a typical rookie HC. Has surrounded himself with great coaches. Was able to retain key coaches. He's a head coach willing to lean on staff, listens to people. What have you seen that makes you say "does not act like typical rookie HC"? Occasionally you'll get disorganization, problems with clock management, game time decisions, what to do on 3rd/short and 4th down. 1st drive in Detroit was a great drive. Good decision making. Staff works together well. Lee Evans? He'll have an impact. Didn't try to feature anyone in pre-season games. Didn't game-plan, which is where you usually feature players. Looking at opposing teams' defenses and their weaknesses is where you develop a game plan that features players. He will help the offense... What about the LDE situation? Two starters at LDE. They will get rotated, possibly spelling Schoebel as well. Both have done well. Safety: impact of starting Wire? Any timeframe for Lawyer? Impact will be minimal. Coy started as rookie, did good job. Lawyer definitely out for this week...beyond it it's day by day. He'll be back as soon as he feels he can get back...(won't slack it). Difference in Rian Lindell? Is there a cut-off point/range (40-45 yard) you assign to him? His leg is strong- he can hit them from beyond 50. Not always the kicker...there's the snap, the holder. Have worked with all phases. Struggled early, but after the first two weeks of camp he has done well.

That's because I imagine it's a typo and the address is 349 University Ave. There is someone at that address, but not a "John Weiner." At least according to listings.... If this is a fake, on the one hand "grrrrr...." but on the other hand at least it didn't happen....

more partial sentences from Chris Brown on Simoncast. Short segment, due in part to a rambling caller backing them up against the break. Travis Brown - (someone asked just before he came on "why would Travis bite the hand that fed him with his comments...giving him chances he probably would not have had elsewhere...?"). Travis was enlightened by news shared by reporter. Travis is an understanding guy. Comments attributed to him are "unlike him." Stevenson was screwed the same way. He should have made roster, but injuries prevented them from keeping him too... Pre-season performance - Potential to have running game that will hide a lot of other flaws. Running game improved every week. That will cover up flaws of line, which may carry them to a few more wins than we may have previously expected. Level of concern re: O-Line comes in when running game is stymied. MW is still not in tip-top shape and not the tackle he can be. Beyond that, everything they have established caters to being more successful than last year. How much? We'll see.

Hmmmm, one of the things Simon just mentioned is that they even streamlined the process to get Bledsoe the play, which should obviously help the offense...
-
DJ Jazzy Jeff was just on the SimonCast. Notes that I jotted as he was talking... On Haggan - Special Teams play may have won him the job over Stevenson. On Gildon - saw it coming. "Guy without a position." On Travis Brown - In the perfect scenario, Brown would sign injury settlement and re-sign...play of Matthews surprised the Bills a little. Problem for Bledsoe, losing his "confidante/man on the sidelines"? Not a big one...Matthews has been around too... On Losman - Surprised by the hit. Morrison thinks he did not think he was going to get hit. He was like a caged animal...needed to get out. Will be part of this football team, attending meetings, etc. On O-Line - A lot of progress made against Detroit. Bledsoe had time for the pass to Moulds. 30 other teams are dealing with banged-up O-line and questions around offense. But of course there are questions with the Bills. You have a rookie at LG. When he gets knocked back, he sets quickly. Most worrisome is depth. On Offense - will be much better. Offensive line is "better." Assuming JJ is healthy, MW loses the weight (30+ pounds lost so far). The problem is they were pounding a square peg in a round hole last year under KG. Simplified offense, McNally getting people to block the way they are best suited to block. Running the football will set everything else up. Thinks the Bills are in the 9-10 win range this year.

Before long, he's going to hope that the alligators that he is hanging over can jump high enough to get him.

WNYTBDGPS Meeting On Friday - High Noon
Dan Gross replied to Mark VI's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Nobody's seen bobblehead and R. Rich in the same room at the same time...could they be the same person? Count me as "highly likely." -
...and so do ours...add me to the 11 right, 7 left club!
-
I think when they put together the depth chart behind the 53 man roster, they cleaned it up to reduce the "multi-backups." There were a lot of players listed on the old depth chart as backups at several positions, but now the only one listed that way is PP. I wouldn't be surprised to see Price step in if Jennings were injured. As far as LDE, Kelsay's been number 1 since at least the first round of cuts. The same time that Smith was named starting LG. I have a feeling though that LDE will be a "rotational" type thing, and I would guess that Denney will get most of the "obvious run play" situations.

Constantin Ritzmann - DE
Dan Gross replied to Happy Days Lois & Clark's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Okay, now I think I remember him. I heard his name as they were announcing the captains for the coin toss! -
Constantin Ritzmann - DE
Dan Gross replied to Happy Days Lois & Clark's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I didn't take it as a smart ass comment. And you're right, I watched the Indy game until just before Brown's injury and really didn't pay much attention to the second half of the last one. -
Guess Denney gets # 92 back now huh?
Dan Gross replied to Thailog80's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That's funny, the official Ryan Denney jersey I got came with a Velcro number kit... -
Constantin Ritzmann - DE
Dan Gross replied to Happy Days Lois & Clark's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
As I said in another thread, I had no idea he was on the roster until I saw him on the "final" depth chart. -
Yeah, I had never remembered seeing Ritzmann's name anywhere until I looked at the final depth chart (which still has a couple of cut players on it). I did a Who the Fug? when I saw his name... It looks like they are serious about Tucker as backup C. I thought Dorenbos would be a casualty of keeping 4 QB's, but I guess they took care of that (does the Travis Brown situation remind anyone else of the Christie scenario...? probably already mentioned in other threads...I'm catching up). I really though Prioleau was going to be the odd man out at safety, but they kept him.

How many of TD's draft picks remain?
Dan Gross replied to HurlyBurly51's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That's what makes me chuckle when people talk about the Bills drafting horribly. No, we're not starting 22 players that were drafted by the Bills, but we are among the highest with # of draft picks on the roster. We have a handful of Bills'-signed (over the years) UDFAs on the roster as well, with a couple starting... -
The Super Bowl!

What I'd say is that he doesn't necessarily lack speed as much as the "burst" to get through the holes. IIRC, his best runs were outside the tackles. He was doing hardly anything up the middle, with the exception of the TD run.
-
...and Mark Weiler will feel confident that the "post-game editorial" he wrote on Wednesday would be finished with only having to fill in the blanks on the number of sacks/interceptions/fumbles/penalties/etc...instead of having to write a "they won despite the fact that TD/Drew/Travis/the O-Line/the Water-boy/etc suck." Ditto Jerry Sullivan.

Hang in there stevestojanty pappy! And S-Hit (I would offer up S-Hitty, much like P-Diddy, myself) as well, and of course DIB.
-
Wow! I wouldn't have expected something like that from a team's official site!
