I'm friggin' sober! This is the "official report your sobriety status" thread, isn't it?

Production assistant? What kind of budget do you think these guys are working with? We're talking "wishing they could afford shoestrings" budgets. He doesn't necessarily come to the "fan site" for info, but for the afore-mentioned fodder. He may make it look easy, but trying to come up with topics to fill 4 hours 5 days a week isn't exactly a cakewalk. Harder in recent times, as he could afford fewer guests to take up time...

So I am reading the article on Losman...

Did somebody say Tron? -
If you feel that strongly about it, e-mail him. This will likely get to him... He responds to most e-mails. What would make you not believe him? He's given props to TBD before on his show. Heck he even waved on-air to Rubeo based on a post on the Wall...And it's not like he's John Madden. He's a local guy who has received lots of support and ideas from this board. What is it that makes the idea of him posting here so unbelievable?

Jake "the Snake" Roberts just made the news...for abusing his snake... http://news.scotsman.com/latest.cfm?id=3712462

This has been posted elsewhere (actually a thread title), but he has resigned as host of the 97 rock post-game show, as they are owned by Entercom's biggest competition in the area. And as to the folks who lost their jobs...as I said in another thread, I feel sorry for them to a degree, but they at least controlled their own destiny. If they had been able to get good ratings they would not have been fired. In the meantime, I am seeing hard-working co-workers of mine losing their jobs due to situations beyond their control. And Wacka's right. You don't give a disgruntled employee an outside audience of thousands to air their dirty laundry.

WGR Tailgate @ Hammers NO MORE
Dan Gross replied to Hammered a Lot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah, this board seems to be getting more and more post delete crazy. I believe that someone said something on the Wall that might have been on a lot of people's minds. Not that it's the right way to think, but it was a negative perception that was potentially floating around ("Sure Hammer will take my money but he won't let me have any fun"). Someone (was it you?) posted the appropriate response to the bad perception ("If your 'fun' ends up in someone getting hurt, Hammer becomes liable."). All in all it seemed like a good exchange to help reduce a potential negative viewpoint that might be held against Hammer due to this situation and it just disappeared overnight.... -
It's called running a business. Entercom seems to disagree with your assessment, considering Howard Simon an upgrade over the 3 people in question. There is no question that they work hard at what they do. There is no question that they are guys just trying to earn an honest living. There is no question that they have families and personal situations. At least they had some control over their situation. If their ratings were through the roof we would not be having this discussion. On the other hand, I'm losing hard-working reliable co-workers left and right to layoffs due to circumstances that we had little to do in creating. So while I can empathize to a degree, don't expect me to shed tears over the situation. My guess is that Entercom was disappointed to see that their ratings did not grow substantially with the elimination of WNSA and they figure that bringing in Simon would not only appeal to the former WNSA listeners but also his proven ability to carry a show by himself allows them to pay one person instead of three. And guess what? If Simon fails to perform up to the expectations of management, he will find himself on the unemployment line as well. Look at me....I'm responding to someone who isn't even listening....better going unread than singled out for "ignore" I guess...

Howard, I'm sure it's a relief to you that you now have a steady source of income. I give you a ton of credit for having the courage to try what you did with the post-WNSA Simoncast. Congratulations, and thank you for providing credible, professional sports talk without the sensationalism. At least now I can listen to you in the car driving from my home west of Rochester into work.... Oh, and BTW, you were supposed to post this in the official "Howard is leaving Empire" thread.

I can't imagine how the broadcast industry can risk working any other way. Giving them any sort of pre-notification is inviting them to use your airwaves to let loose their dirty laundry. Yes, some people are consumate pros, and won't do that, but you can't count on that happening, and you can't risk the pub of pulling the plug suddenly when your "lame duck" announcers start on a rampage... It's not great for the guys who lost their jobs, but they should understand that is the way the business works....

I just hope he does it in this thread, or buffalomike will hound his *ss for starting another thread!

Hey, Steve, there's this neato feature on the TIVO called the "Season Pass." Makes it so that you don't have to remember to set it every week when you enjoy the show.

Over 95% of NY Incumbants Reelected
Dan Gross replied to theesir's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Another key point (which is related) is something mentioned in a recent editorial in the Rochester D & C: people vote their own local interests in NY (as opposed to what's in the best interests of the state), and until that changes, we're screwed. We vote for the pork ("Vote for me because I will bring more money to WNY for the ferry, education, etc") that is killing us. -
Over 95% of NY Incumbants Reelected
Dan Gross replied to theesir's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Wrong board, but I think it's a matter of "It's not my guy that's the problem, it's the upstate/downstate (depending on where you live) guys." -
There you go misquoting me again. Where do you come up with this stuff?

What Changes Will GWB make to his Cabinet?
Dan Gross replied to BuffaloBorn1960's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
This article from the Washington Post suggests the possibility of Rice shifting to Defense, and potential for Powell staying on, among other things. Speculation of course, but we'll see... -
where will you watch next Bills Super Bowl?

I'm just hoping it won't be from my bed in the nursing home.... -
It was good to see you too Rich! I hung out as long as I could, but I had to get to a meeting. Would have been longer had you shown up on time.

You're right, I'm sorry. I should have gone back and re-read your original post in the morning rather than work from the recollection of what I thought you were saying when I was reading it blurry-eyed at 1:30 am. I'll go back to the Wall now, where using meaningless stats to indicate how a player is doing better/worse than last year is the norm.
-
...and that's intended to prove what?
-
Last I checked the Communist party didn't win the election, so there's nothing contradictory about calling you a Communist loser!
-
Interesting how sports fans are countering your argument with incorrect election results as opposed to the obvious "home field advantage" the incumbent party usually gets. Since the 22nd amendment has passed, Carter is the only "new" President (in other words, one who wasn't running as the former VP, like Bush, Ford) who has failed to be re-elected. "The devil you know..." plays a lot into these campaigns. I would argue that Kerry outperformed Gore, as Kerry didn't have the power of the incumbency on his side.

Voted. No stickers at my polling place.

Wow, this is the funniest thread ever!

Sorry, the Wall is pulling me down with it.... Maybe I need some time in the sarcasm thread.
