  1. Yes, you're right, that does put the Bills in a pretty unique category, being only one of three teams that have beaten the Pats in the last two years...
  2. Last I checked, your "pretty damn good" run D is ranked 13th in the AFC... though I suppose you jump all the way up to 10th in YPC I do agree on the close game part.
  3. Because the Rams continue to forget they have a capable running back in Marshall Faulk. They play air ball, you can predict it, and if you plan for it you can rattle the QB into bad throws. They fall behind, becoming even more predictable, game over. Last I checked, your team was in the bottom half of run defenses. The Bills will run and run some more. When they do pass they will have capable pass-catching backs out in the flat ready for the dump-off. The "statue" will likely not get killed because a.) he will be limited in the number of drop backs, b.) he is getting more (and better) protection, c.) improved line play, d.) much better passing lanes and e.) more confidence in his receiving corps in general. Then there's the defensive side of the ball. Remember two weeks ago...Pittsburgh? Expect something like that. We are finally getting healthy on the defensive side, and have put together a unit that is really good in the first half but utterly stifling in the 2nd half. I like our chances if we avoid mistakes. If we give you the short ball, no doubt you will capitalize on it. If we can avoid it (and yes I know that, all factors considered, that can be a big if), I really think the Bills can win.
  4. Hey, Bob, you tackled your team's loss not only with grace but a sense of humor. You're welcome back any time...
  5. I can just imagine the captions: "The ground in front of the Pinto." "Jay's feet." "The sky after the game."
  6. As I said in my own version of this: http://205.134.161.85/forums/index.php?showtopic=9157 Too many cooks. Though we were the #2 defense last year. It's just that our offense played like #2 for most of the year.
  7. Everyone else is a jerk.
  8. I'm counting our own D in there. 1-2-3 are Washington(Williams), Pittsburgh(Lebeau) and the Bills(Gray).
  9. I forgot until I read King's article that the Steelers are Lebeau's defense now. all coaches are kicking butt with aggresive D's, but in different ways...We really did have too many cooks last year....
  10. Well, we lost the first couple of games because the D switched from the blitz-heavy aggresive D to the "safer" more conservative "prevent" type D. Works both ways...
  11. ...and don't forget "guys we should have hired" like Denny Green, Haslett and Fox....yeah, yeah, injuries, but last year all I heard about is "The Patriots are going to the Super Bowl despite having 35 players on IR, so injuries isn't a valid excuse."
  12. I'd look for a scanner that incorporates ASF's ICE technology. Part of the technology involves hardware in the scanner, so you can't just go buy the software. I know Microtek's do, and I believe some Epson's will as well. It will reduce creases, tears, etc. It's not perfect, but it will make the pictures look much better.
  13. So we should stop investing in MOABs and start investing in really big fans...
  14. Yeah, after Moulds catches 8 passes in a row, the coaches pull him to force Drew to look for someone else...? We'll see if that question comes up today, either via the "fan e-mail" on the BB.com site (I tried submitting it, but they were supposed to be in by 9:00 am) or tonight on his show...
  15. You forgot the most important stat: 3 wins.
  16. Last November, almost a year ago, and also about the same time we won three home games in a row...When's the last time we scored every time we hit the red zone two games in a row...? These two home games in a row have been great to begin a momentum. I've said it before and I'll say it again: the Pats are an opportunistic team. They thrive on the mistakes of other teams while not making many of their own. We've got the killer combo of the Pats at "Dull Razor Blade Field" at night. If we play the game we've played the last two weeks on O we will win.
  17. Yeah, the dorks in the booth missed it entirely, talking over the ref making the call, then saying "no, I guess it wasn't a penalty. They just picked up the flag." You know, sad how you can feel that Moorman had to "redeem" himself by punting no better than opposing kickers into the wind yesterday, but the coffin corner kick certainly did that....
  18. Heck, some were even asking for Shayne Graham! Appreciate the bashers offering a begrudging congrats.
  19. of wins in November as GW did...
  20. And you can add "at night" to that as well. The Bills have been "not ready for prime-time" for a while now. A win next week would be BIG. I have trouble believing we can pull off such a killer combo.....one week at a time though...
  21. Coin toss winner gets choice: which goal to defend or kick/receive. The other team gets the choice for the other half. Jets win the toss. They chose to start with the wind to their backs, so the Bills received. The Bills chose to receive the ball the 2nd half. Jets chose going into the wind 3rd Q (to get wind to their back 4th Q).
  22. I hear ya, but look at the drive chart: http://www.nfl.com/gamecenter/drives/NFL_20041107_NYJ@BUF The astounding special teams and D play (well, outside of the obligatory 4th Q TD that they seem to be giving up every game...) go without saying. Like I said, it's a small knock. Again, I like the scoring in the red zones. Much better than the alternative. I also like that we are making the clutch plays (Moorman's clutch punt and the subsequent safety, the sustained drive with the clutch Evans grab to finish the game...). This team is learning to win.
  23. Not to add to the "McGahee legend," but Drew has been sacked once in the three McGahee starts, against Miami. It helps to have a.) the improved running game, b.) a back who will actually block the blitzer, and c.) a couple of backs (with Shelton coming on strong the last couple of games) who you have confidence will catch the dump-offs. I do like the blocking techniques that seem to be using the blitzers' momentum to push them past the pocket. Of course part of that is ensuring there's a solid middle to the pocket for Drew to step into. We've really improved there. Drew has had some great throwing lanes. I think teams are going to start taking notice that you just can't blitz the Bills into oblivion. The only knock I can give now is that it seemed the beginning of the season featured us moving the ball down the field and stalling in the red zone. Now it seems we can't move the ball consistently without great field position. We had one long scoring drive, and it was great that it was the opening drive in the 2nd half, but we should do more. It's a small knock, you all know me as one of the "Positive Pollyanna" crowd. We scored every trip to the red zone for the second game in a row. I'll take that and the win, and look at us as being 1-0 on the rest of the season...
  24. I dunno, it's hard to beat those Seattle home duds, even as fugly as the Bengals stuff is.
  25. Hey, Jeremy. Happened to catch some of Friday morning's show, and with what little I heard it sounds like you and Howard will make a good team. Welcome to the Wall....
