[OT] TiVo: say hello to advertisements
Dan Gross replied to Rubes's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You can FF as long as skipping commercials isn't outlawed by H.R. 4077 (see section 112) (11) the making imperceptible, by or at the direction of a member of a private household, of limited portions of audio or video content of a motion picture during a performance in or transmitted to that household for private home viewing, from an authorized copy of the motion picture, or the creation or provision of a computer program or other technology that enables such making imperceptible and that is designed and marketed for such use at the direction of a member of a private household, if-- `(A) no fixed copy of the altered version of the motion picture is created by such computer program or other technology; and `(B ) no changes, deletions or additions are made by such computer program or other technology to commercial advertisements, or to network or station promotional announcements, that would otherwise be performed or displayed before, during or after the performance of the motion picture.' What started as a means to allow parents to protect kids from inappropriate content ("manually" editing DVD's, or allowing DVD players to "skip" inappropriate content) has been changed to "protect" copyright owners by not allowing software to skip commercials... Also some nasty stuff related to Peer-to-Peer in there...your iPod may become illegal, even if you pay for the music... So which forum will this get moved to....consumer or politics? -
The lynch mob mentality is getting funny
Dan Gross replied to Fezmid's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There's always: "Did you hear that idiot Phillips say we were out of the playoffs while we were still mathematically alive?!?!?! And then the Colts, in the same position, beat us and went to the playoffs!!! What an idiot! Fire him!" coupled with "Did you hear that idiot Mularkey say we were still capable of making the playoffs with only 7 games left in the season?! What an idiot! Fire him!" Then there's the comparisons to coaching "geniuses..." as long as it supports your point. Last year it was all about "Look at what Parcells is doing! GW does this, while Parcells does that, and look at the results..." This year, Parcells is pulling the same QB move that we are (except worse, as his "QB of the future" has been actively involved in practices since day 1), but no one who likes to use the "geniuses" to counter what our "idiot coaches" are doing seems to want to say "look at how the genius Parcells is handling it!" Bottom line: the "genius" coaches are only "genius" coaches when a.) they are doing something different than our coach and b.) succeeding with it when we aren't. -
There's a big difference between Eli & JP

He wasn't active. He was the emergency 3rd QB which is not an active player. Read the rules sometime... -
I have a feeling there was some psychology being employed WRT Losman's entry into the game, and it wasn't being employed towards Drew. Note that Losman is still the #3 QB, which indicates that he is not the person who would go in if Drew were injured, and not the logical person to go in for "cleanup." Judging from Losman's post-game comments, Losman is still "mentally" getting over the injury, even though he is physically healed. MM might have put him in there without notice to "prove" to him that he is healed, without giving him time to "think about it" beforehand. A kind of "forced" way to get Losman past the mental blocks that stand in the way of his move up the depth charts. I think you will see Losman at #2 on the depth charts for a game at least before he moves up to #1. And when he hits #2, he'll be mentally "there." That's at least how I interpret the situation based on how things supposedly transpired. Why else would they not tell him he's going in until the last second?

In the meantime "genius" Parcells is insisting on keeping Henson off the field because they are "still in it." -
Have you tried GG's place? Any reason for your particular hang-up with that model? Several others here: http://www1.bottomdollar.com/search_attrib...eyword=&sortby= You can always try the consumer site listings in the Consumer forum

Anyone else watching the Jets-Ravens
Dan Gross replied to Albany,n.y.'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Looks like Kordell missed his calling. Nice way to pin the Jets back with a punt down to the 6! -
Rotation between Kelsay and Ryan Denney
Dan Gross replied to San-O's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
They gave up one player. I don't get how people can't do the math of draft day trades. Remember that when you are trading away two picks you are getting one in return. Last I checked 2-1 = 1. And this was a year they had a wealth of compensatory picks.... Besides, everyone here says that TD sucks on the 2nd day of the draft, so a 4th round pick is not a real loss.... Again a "no win" scenario. You have one position with two 2nd round players vying for it. So whoever doesn't win it is automatically a bust. -
Well, Brady was only worth $28M after his 1st SB win, what does that make him?

I'm Disappointed in Bobby April
Dan Gross replied to Fake-Fat Sunny's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
For someone who writes so many words, you should learn to read about that which you are offended about.... Personally, I don't care if he calls them the "Fifi's" and the "Cumquats," as long as they keep performing... -
There are a bunch of consumer-related sites in the "Consumer Digest" forum. Thread is http://205.134.161.85/forums/index.php?showtopic=5568 Includes product and etail opinion sites, and "deal" sites that outline the latest coupons and deals, etc. For opinions on products, I'll go to amazon when possible. You'll be limited to what they carry though. Do a GG search to find appropriate forums. My favorite home theater forum is http://www.avsforum.com/ but they don't seem to have a "camcorder" forum. I personally buy quite a bit from ecost.com. Not always the cheapest, but they've been reliable. This camcorder looks nice: http://www.gizmodo.com/gadgets/digital-cam...amcorder-025582 but alas, it won't be available until Feb... Just some thoughts...

Yeah, I know that. I figured you would have figured if I knew his last name. What I didn't realize until I went to the station's web site to verify his alias is that Don Polek is at the same station....

Common man! The double loopover method is a perfectly valid way to tie your shoes. And you fail to mention that WM's 60 yard run started on our 40! And Fletcher wouldn't have dropped that INT if he wasn't being held by the receiver! Where was the flag on that?! [/pollyanna] You forgot to mention: "Of course they were supposed to win. The Pats had no secondary! How could Bledsoe only throw for 450 yards against them like that?!" ...and thanks for the quote credit, Chris! If we could be so lucky to be arguing that....that's the one thing about all the Patsie trolls being here: I feel I can kid about this stuff a little bit without disturbing the MUT too much. Just keep the mistakes down boys....

SI writer on Pats site reviews Bills
Dan Gross replied to JohnnyBravo's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
bills_fan is reffering to the article by Jerry Sullivan's bastard child Mark Weiler, which is linked at the bottom. At least, that's the article he's quoting.... -
Go now... It's on CNN Radio online. "Breaking News" banner has it. No story yet.

How can Moulds not be licking his CHOPS?
Dan Gross replied to Yard Monkey's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
and heck if the Pats "hold" McGahee to 5.5 YPC like they did Faulk, then I would not be crying too hard either.... -
Is there anyway to e-mail players on the Bills?
Dan Gross replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There's a form here: http://www.buffalobills.com/utility/EmailtheBills.jsp but no place for attachments. If you got the sound bites uploaded to a web site you could send them the URL. How big are the files? -
How can Moulds not be licking his CHOPS?
Dan Gross replied to Yard Monkey's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's not the runner that's at issue, it's the pass-happy coach they have. Rams probably at least would have stayed in it if Martz hadn't gone pass-whacky...of course the same could be said for the Super Bowl... -
Don't forget the trade angle with Dallas. The better the Bills do, the worse the 1st round pick the Boys pick up....

It will be Weis v. Gray on Sunday
Dan Gross replied to Fake-Fat Sunny's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I believe it was after this game that I likened Gray's play-calling to that of a 13 year old playing Madden for the first time. "1st down, what do I do....Blitz! 2nd down, what do I do....Blitz! 1st down again, what do I do....etc...." -
Still missing the part about changing all nouns that end in "er" to the more appropriate "re."
-
Yes, it brought tears to my eyes....
-
...and by default right now "whoever is playing the Bills" are his second favorite team, as a poor Bills season would give the 'boys 2 top 10 draft picks.
