  1. Is that the John Cougar Mellancamp one? Way over the top corny. Kinda makes me nauseous when I see it.
  2. An embroidery girl at work has her father going in for surgery this week. Cancer in his tongue? Never heard of that before but its at the back of his tongue so the operation sounds pretty gruesome. They have to split his jaw apart or something. Really terrible stuff. He had throat cancer from smoking as well apparently and had that operation only a few years back. He is a long time smoker as well but had not smoked in years. Too little too late I suppose. Dumb thing is the girl smokes. At lunch on Friday she was sitting outside smoking and I told her to throw the fuggin things out and that she had to be insane after seeing what her dad is going through.
  3. Makes me wonder why we are fighting a war we cant afford to pay for.
  4. Hey, I tend to be grumpy when I get tired. Sorry for the insensitivity. Im a heartless old sob!!!
  5. Don't care really because it's hoops and hoops sucks. I would have cared more if someones poor granny died or something.
  6. Great game. Lived up to what I expected. Sabres looked fantastic despite the loss. I really gained a lot of respect for the Thrashers as well. They were tired and outplayed the first two periods but hung in there and came on strong in the third to kinda steal the win.
  7. Gee thats the way I think as well. I thought I was the only one and would'nt really have the nerve to post it here. I always thought that if we had a top 5 pick I would gladly trade it for a couple lower #1s or a #1 and a 2nd pick or something.
  8. Your not alone. I would consider myself a midrange geek myself and I don't have a myspace page either. I do wish I owned part of it though.
  9. Probably more than you want to know but it answers your question. Check out the last paragraph. From wikipedia Ice hockey In ice hockey, a shutout is given to a team whose goaltender successfully prevents the other team from scoring and plays the entire game. The current record holder for most regular season career shutouts is Terry Sawchuk with 103 (See All-Time Regular Season Shutouts). NHL Complications For the 2005/2006 National Hockey League regular season the NHL adopted NHL Rule 89(b) shoot out format. If the game remains tied after 60 minutes regulation time have elapsed (a condition often referred to as a regulation tie), a short five minute sudden death overtime (OT) is played four-on-four (with one fewer skater on each side, which opens up the ice and promotes scoring). If the five minute OT does not determine a winner, the game goes into shoot out (SO). While the shoot out has been widely adopted in European leagues and International Hockey it was long resisted by conservative voices in Canada and America as an inferior method to end a hockey game. In the first round of the shoot-out, each team is granted three shooters. The shooters alternate between teams. Like baseball, the game ends as soon as the outcome is certain. For example, if one team scores with both of their first shots and the other team is denied (does not score) on both of their first two shots, the game will end immediately because the outcome is certain, without the third shooters on either team getting a shot. If the shoot-out remains tied after the first three shooters on each team, the shoot-out enters a sudden-death format, with each round granting each team one more shooter. Once the shoot-out is decided, the winning team is awarded a goal as part of their score. However, this goal does not count against the goaltender losing the shoot-out. A shut-out shared between two goaltenders on the same team is credited to neither - the shut-out is only credited as a team shut-out. In the exceptionally rare circumstance that a game ends in a regulation tie with a score of 0-0 (a double regulation shut-out), the shoot-out will result in the opposing goaltenders being awarded a shutout in a scoreless game decided in the shootout. This is true even if the winning goaltender allowed shoot-out goals. Such a case happened for the first time December 6 when the Calgary Flames and Philadelphia Flyers were scoreless through regulation and overtime. Mike Richards scored on Miikka Kiprusoff in the shoot-out, but both Kiprusoff and Philadelphia goaltender Antero Niittymäki were credited with shut-outs. Niittymäki did not allow a shoot-out goal. Interestingly, a combination of the two scenarios is possible. In rare cases, teams send out their backup goaltender to face the shoot-out. Believing that rookie goaltender Mike Morrison 5-0 record in shoot-outs indicated he would be more effective than starter Ty Conklin, Craig MacTavish sent Morrison in off the bench for Conklin March 6 2006 to face the Dallas Stars. However, the Stars scored on both attempts and the Oilers were blanked on both their attempts. Dallas won the game 4-3. However, this was not a shut-out game for Conklin, and Morrison was credited with the regulation tie despite not having played a minute in regulation time. Only the NHL head office knows for certain whether the goaltender who achieved the shut-out in regulation would be officially awarded a shut-out if his team's back-up goaltender enters the game and wins the shoot-out.
  10. From a different perspective, I think it would finally make the NBA watchable if the players were allowed to bring thier guns to the game. In fact, I would watch on PPV if they were allowed to be strapped during the game. Make basketball a fun sport to watch.
  11. IMHO that "something missing" is quick decision making. He really hesitates and his feet start getting that nervous shuffle and his head starts quickly scanning the field in a desperate way. He reminds me a little of Drew as far as the indecison goes. If he can commit quicker I think he would be much better off and Im sure the OLine would appreciate it as well.
  12. Here is the Leafs record for the first ten games. 1993-94 Regular Season Date Opponent Score 10/7/1993 Dallas Stars 6 - 3 10/9/1993 Chicago Blackhawks 2 - 1 10/10/1993 at Philadelphia Flyers 5 - 4 10/13/1993 Washington Capitals 7 - 1 10/15/1993 Detroit Red Wings 6 - 3 10/16/1993 at Detroit Red Wings 2 - 1 10/19/1993 Hartford Whalers 7 - 2 10/21/1993 at Florida Panthers 4 - 3 10/23/1993 at Tampa Bay Lightning 2 - 0 10/28/1993 at Chicago Blackhawks 4 - 2 Won thier first 10 before losing to Montreal 5-2
  13. Well, they fail to mention how many games the Sabres have absolutely owned thier opponents. Only bringing up the close ones. Every game Ive seen the Sabres this season(approx 5) they look full value for thier undefeated record.
  14. Atlanta looks to me as the toughest upcoming. Playing pretty good hockey and Lehtonen is solid in goal. Kovalochuck and Hossa are on fire right now.
  15. If anything it's worse. We definitely a 2-5 looking team.
  16. Im definitely not a Willis fan. However I really can't fault him for much so far this season. I think his play has been acceptable. No, he's no LT or even Larry Johnson but he is servicable. His speed doesnt seem to be perfect acceleration is good enough to have an effective run game. I think with a half decent OLine and an effective pass attack he would be good enough.
  17. And so it goes. The more things change the more they stay the same. As sure as death and taxes and the sun will come up tommorow, three things will stay the same. Our OLine will suck. Our Dline will be undersized and mediocre. Wilson will never spend money to get a proven coach. He lacks the insight to get a dynamic, innovative fresh face to coach. I guess thats 4 things.
  18. Please don't give Marv any ideas. Were gonna end up with "he was the best athelete available" corner, safety or punky wr again.
  19. I agree. At some point JP has to make adjustments in order to minimize the damage caused by our inferior line. And that is, to get rid of the ball quicker and tuck it away when under pressure. Thats all I expect from him. If he doesnt have time to find open recievers its not his fault necessarily.
  20. I would say 12 years too late for the Flyers. Not like I care. Not only is Clarke a terrible manager as far as personel goes he's a all around prik as well. Was the dirtiest player on the Flyers when in thier goon squad hay day. Not that it was obvious because he never faught. Goons like Shultz, Saleski and Kelly had his back when he pulled his spearing, slashing sh--. His mean spirit carried over to his gm career as well in his handling of Lindros.
  21. Damn that game sucked the life right out of me. Just like Lemaire to find a way to make this game boring even with the new rules. Totally clogged everything up. San Jose likes to play a high tempo game and that was not going to happen. Goddamn. Sharks could get absolutely nothing going against the Wild. Not even sure if Minnesota is on the Sabres sked but I would be interested to see if Lemaire had his team play teh same way against them.
  22. This thread is a new low. How bad has it got if the debate is about whether we are better than the Lions or not? If the question has to be asked the Bills may as well start playing for the number one pick next draft right now.
  23. Check out the Sabres Stanley Cup final (Only say that because after watching the Sabres first 8 games this season Im convinced no one is close in the east) opponent tonight as we off the Wild. GO SHARKS!
  24. Whats a good image sharing site??? I can upload
  25. No way around it. You have to be able to think quick at qb. Vick is dumb. Not good for a qb. All he wants to do is run. For him to say he wants to pass is dilusional on his part. If you watch a game he is not patient. His second option is always to run. Doesnt like or cannot check down. Like all running qb's he is a flash in the pan. Like Kordell Stewart. Decent second stringer for a change of pace but only short term. Never going to win anything substantial with them. Give me someone with a brain like Young(Steve) or Montana any day
