  1. I see what you did here! Boy, were you blindsided!
  2. Shouted this. Just felt it had to be archived here!!!
  3. "Well, you say that I'm an outlaw, You say that I'm a thief. Here's a Christmas dinner For the families on relief." Yes, as through this world I've wandered I've seen lots of funny men; Some will rob you with a six-gun, And some with a fountain pen. And as through your life you travel, Yes, as through your life you roam, You won't never see an outlaw Drive a family from their home."
  4. Why? Downstate so much more derogatory. Look at it as glass half full, not half empty. Here... Everything outside ChicagoLand is considered Downstate. Hillbilly heaven. Upstate is a good thing! Who cares if NYS is NYCcentric. Kinda rightly so.
  5. Thank you Copernicus of NYS for debunking the QueensburyCentric philosophy Gug is spewing... Yeah... @Gugny 's world view, perspective is that only he can be in "Upstate" because he's above everyone else in the state. He travels down to BFLo and NYC. Such low life's there! Yes, Virginia, NYS really revolves around a NYCcentric POV when it comes to Upstate and Downstate debate! Not the Adirondacks... 🤭😁 Cc: @Beerball Bcc (not so blind carbon copy): @BringBackFergy
  6. I don't think it's a legend about the dead cows. Maybe the kid. But, here on the Chicago ShitDitch... Back in the day... The stockyards would throw the carcasses of the animals in canal. How "Bubbly Creek" got it's name here. The decomposing carcasses would cause the creek, small tributary of canal, to supposedly bubble up. Take it for what it's worth. Had to be common at other places.
  7. Kinda unfair. I'd die on that hill! Definitely a hill to die on! 😉 Move it or take moderation off and you'd see people whack at it. 😆 20 years here... You learn to pick your battles.
  8. I caught it somewhere on like History Channel show... Will see if I can reference it.
  9. Quagga mussels. Billions on bottom of Lake Michigan, but Eddie Fitz sank in Lake Superior... Upstream of Lake Michigan. https://www.mlive.com/news/2016/09/why_havent_zebra_and_quagga_mu.html "In any other Great Lake, that would be unheard of. But scientists say that Lake Superior has successfully repelled the invasive dreissenid mussels thanks to a unique combination of temperature, chemistry and food availability."
  10. Didn't they go down there with a rover and find like every other cargo hatch was unsecured... Insinuating that maybe the crew didn't get the vessel ready properly enough for heavy weather. ???
  11. I think up in Vermont is the same. Generally anywhere in rural settings you kinda get that. My sister got married and lived in SHAR-lot, Vermont.
  12. This moose is on the loose! Bears? Pffft! They ain't nuttin'! From The Weather Channel Android App: https://weather.com/news/trending/video/moose-attacks-dog-sled-team-in-alaska?pl=pl-the-latest
  13. Viewer left or picture left? 😆 I am sorry... Have to say it. The guy in your avatar too... Keith, right! Must have been in one of his moods... 😉
  14. I like it! Only @Gugnywants to be called Upstate...Everyone else is below him. Why he puts au jus on a beef & weck and makes it a French dip! 😆 He wants to be better than the rest and still rally around BFLo bar cuisine! 😏 Hey... @Beerball I put my pants on one leg at a time AFTER I finish swimming! 😆
  15. Ahhhh... New York State's website. 😆
  16. Let's just say "this isn't my first rodeo" 😆 with say the likes of Mr.Gugny and the Chefmaster . They like to feel special and don't realize there's a big world out there that shares some of their geographical space... It's the only reason why guys like that fail to recognize that a state with it's name the same as the nation's largest city, is greatly influenced by that city, is first subdivided into 2 parts and then 9 specific regions. People like that "pull the cart before the horse." OR should I say the barge before the mule on the towpath. 😏
  17. NYS subdivided into 2 main parts, then subdivided into 9 distinct regions either in Upstate and Downstate. The Erie Canal in its entirety runs through Upstate New York. 1. UPSTATE: Region 0 – Capital/Saratoga — Albany Albany Columbia Fulton Greene Montgomery Rensselaer Saratoga Schenectady Schoharie Warren Washington Region 1 – Eastern Adirondacks — Plattsburgh Franklin Clinton Essex Hamilton Region 2 – Western Adirondacks — Watertown Herkimer Jefferson Lewis Oneida Oswego St. Lawrence Region 3 – Central New York — Syracuse Broome Cayuga Chenango Cortland Madison Onondaga Otsego Tioga Tompkins Region 4 – Finger Lakes — Rochester Chemung Genesee Livingston Monroe Ontario Schuyler Seneca Steuben Wayne Yates Region 5 – Western New York — Buffalo Allegany Cattaraugus Chautauqua Erie Niagara Orleans Wyoming 2. DOWNSTATE: All the BS areas associated w/NYC Region 6 – Hudson Valley — Kingston Delaware Dutchess Orange Putnam Sullivan Ulster Region 7 – Westchester/Rockland — White Plains Rockland Westchester Region 8 – Long Island — Hauppauge Nassau Suffolk Region 9 – New York City Bronx Kings New York Richmond Queens
  18. I see you flunked Grade 7 NYS Social Studies. Smoking too much dope. 😉 New York City is highlighted in red; "Upstate" refers to some or all of the area north and west of the city. Not swam it but know someone who ran it... For my niece's husband who lost his battle with cancer last year @ 35 years old. 😆... NOT me. 😊 😚
  19. I have a co-worker Jorge. Lots of people call him George. WTF is wrong with people! You're asking a lot of the long, illustrious lineage and education of the locals! 😆 BUT get unruly when you throw the: "S" in Illinois! 😆
  20. ANY you slice it... It's a clustereff and true bastardization. Louis Jolliet is 2 "L's"...
  21. BUT! Joliet... I think was going to be corrupted to "Juliet"... Situated next to Romeoville and there were going to be "Twin Cities?" ?? Man... Things change? I always thought it was the explorer, Louis Jolliet. Hence the "Jolly" thing? Anyway... We are built on a very illiterate and corrupted English country. 😆
  22. WTF! That's how they'd pronounce it in Midwest! You simply can't take the country out of folk. San Jose gets: San Josie! Shaking my head in disbelief... Bourbonnais, Illinois gets: Burr-BONE-us. Joliet gets: JOLLY-ette. WHICH, is probably closest to the original (I am assuming) French: Joelie-aye??
