There's a reason why Miami Beach wasn't incorporated till 1915 w/Miami being founded under 20 years earlier. People be dying of malaria, etc... Same with the rest of the SunBelt. Northerners had to invent mechanical air conditioning for the region to be habitable, not to mention the engineering and technology to build dams and store fresh water, sanitation, etc... It was well into the 20th century before those advances started making these places even remotely hospitable. 😏

A lie to say, "O my mountain has coal veins and beds to dig. 500 men with axes and they all dig for me." A lie to say, "O my river where many fish do swim, half of the catch is mine when you haul your nets in." Never will he believe that his greed is a blinding ray. No devil or redeemer will cheat him. He'll take his gold to where he's lying cold. ...

The sun was setting over Avalon The last time we stood in the west Suffering long time angels enraptured by Blake Burn out the dross Innocence captured again Standing on the beach at sunset And all the boats keep moving slow In the glory of the flashing light In the evenings glow When will I ever learn To live in God? When will I ever learn? He gives me everything I need and more When will I ever learn? You brought it to my attention That everything was made in God Down through centuries of great writings and paintings Everything lives in God Seen through architecture of great cathedrals Down through the history of time Is and was in the beginning And evermore Shall ever be...

Shhh... Don't blow the narrative! Yeah. So even more people can move into climate danger zones and get wiped out. You'd think the plan would be opposite, where people moving in would be sustainable. -
I'd hazard to guess they were idiot fishermen? They have no restricted waters! The world is their personal playground... It's where the fish are! 😏 Fixed it. NO! Really??

"Gee boat, weren't you a little hard on the Beaver?" Here's a breakdown. Nose up on the beaver. Floats down. Pilot had limited view. Seems the boat is in the wrong. The boat was in restricted water. They got all that room and they need to be right by the float plane docks?? Nothing like slamming a good beaver!

I agree! I beat you to it. Way up thread. Stuck on an island poor:

Not sure. I have been downtown @ Chicago Harbor and worked it only a few times. I am at the other lock Chicago... On Calumet we do 10s 1,000 of pleasure craft... But it's not as crazy as the crazy days downtown. It is a bit congested on Chicago River and lock there is 60% smaller... I can imagine the tour boat guide was right! Get one boat deviating from norm, kinda jazzes up the flow of traffic.

I never heard of it! I did have a dude in a pretty decent size cabin cruiser (old POS boat) come thru lock today. He was floundering pretty badly on one-engine. He said he was going to pick up his boyfriend. I guess that's gonna be a "bro boat"... Hate to imagine what takes place on that boat... Not there is anything wrong with that. LoL... I guess what ever floats their boat! 😏

Yeah... First line of defense... BUT screens better. Can't drain all the water! We still have malaria, etc... in the US.

How about the mesh window screen? The mosquito 🦟 has killed more humans than all wars combined in HUMAN HISTORY. Think about that on the 80th anniversary of D-Day...

Maybe. But places like Kolkata & Mumbai exist...

Huh? Sure you can. My father was born in Cheektowaga in the 1930s. His family didn't get indoor plumbing till he got back from the Army in early 1950s. Indoor plumbing is a luxury. Anyway... Plumbing systems have been around since antiquity... Always been a luxury.
