Do you not think Beane can get a non-guaranteed extension with White to lower his 2024 cap hit? If that happens it’s more than feasible all of them are here in 2024, including Rasul at his contract number.

Yep, we're gonna have different opinions on this. Beane spent literally 15 seconds on the Rasul question. Read the Buscaglia article - there is a path for all of them to be here next year.

This seems more likely: “The Bills would be best served to let the year play out and see how Douglas performs, Benford’s progress and how well White bounces back from injury before issuing any guaranteed new money to the cornerback position.”

What exactly did you hear him say to make you think this?! Because he said what he “brought” to the defense, instead of what he “brings”? I’ve seen people running with that person’s interpretation, which is quite a stretch imo.

I get the point. And I still think the point is we won’t know for years whether this pick turned out to be valuable or not, so I wouldn’t go around stating definitively this pick has very little value. Regardless of NIL they’re not cancelling day 3 of the draft.

We have no idea who will be selected at #143 and how they will turn out in the NFL. So we can’t say this has very little value. Plenty of examples of guys selected in the 5th who have turned out to be quite valuable.

One thing to keep in mind is that Beane is probably going to be using a number of those later picks as part of a package to move up in the earlier rounds. Doesn't mean he can't use what he has left on a QB, but I wouldn't expect him to have 6 to just throw around.

Kyle Allen I would see him as an upgrade to Kyle Allen. If they can release Allen and essentially swap salaries I'd consider the upgrade.

Disagree slightly on bigger fish to fry. Mitch fit in pretty well with Josh when he was here and seems he'll come cheap and a better option than Kyle. If Josh goes down long term we're toast, but Mitchell (or someone better if they can find a cheap alternative) could conceivably get us by a few games. And for that it's pretty important to have a better backup than what is currently there. imho
