  1. This conclusory statement is simplistic at best. You certainly are not alone. Nevertheless, if one looks at his performance and each of the passes that he made in context, it is clear that the word "pathetic" in no way accurately describes AJ's performance. https://billswire.usatoday.com/2018/08/31/buffalo-bills-watch-aj-mccarron-bears/
  2. I think that AJ played pretty well . . . especially if you look at his performance in the context of why certain things happened. For those of you who thought that AJ had a bad game, you may want to look at the linked video that includes each of his passes: https://billswire.usatoday.com/2018/08/31/buffalo-bills-watch-aj-mccarron-bears/ It is clear that: 1) Most of his incomplete passes are not his fault or were intentional; 2) The second interception clearly was not his fault; 3) The guy is effective running the ball; 4) When one looks at each play in context, it is clear that he played pretty well . . . especially given the state of our offensive line . . . .
  3. I think that it would be a big mistake for the Bills to release AJ. I thought he did fine given the cast around him. Just like I did not hold it against Allen last week, I am taking the same approach with AJ.
  4. Thank you.
  5. As you know, I disagree with you 100%. I will just reference and incorporate everything I have written on the subject to not waste my time or your time. Gilmore didn't go on strike? He refused to tackle!!! His year can be summarized by that one play where he slowed down to glare at another DB instead of chasing after the WR who ran into the end zone for a TD. P.S. I agree with most of what you say about Mario. The Dolphins had the same experience with him the following year in case anyone else doubts what happened with Mario.
  6. We can agree to disagree on schemes (and whether players like Mario and Gilmore went on strike). That is a far cry from stating that Rex undermined Whaley. My sense also is that most of the guys who ever played for Rex or coached with him love him. I am sure that he not true with guys that he fired or cut, but overall, I believe that is true.
  7. It is amazing how much people love to go out of their way to criticize Charles Clay. He has been about as consistent a player as we have had these past few years.
  8. Re Glenn - we could have found something else to move up to get Allen. The jury is still out on Allen. He has potential . . . potential that he is unlikely to reach as long as we have a crappy offensive line. Re Seantrel - I just disagree. He played pretty well for us . . . especially at a young age and with the issues that he was going through. How he performs with Houston will demonstrate that either I am right or you and McBeane were right about Seantrel. I like my chances . . . especially based on the articles I have read and how well Seantrel has done in practice against even JJ Watt.
  9. Actually, in my judgment, Rex supported Whaley at every turn as far as I am concerned. In my view, Whaley, on the other hand, threw Rex under the bus with the Pegulas and the media (e.g., spread rumors that Rex would be fired even while the team was still fighting for the playoffs). John Wawrow has posted some things here that support this view. Whaley was a two timing, back stabbing little . . . .
  10. I actually think it was the opposite. I think Whaley worked behind the scenes to undermine Rex. Karma is a B word. That ended up blowing up in his face.
  11. It seemed to help him. Who are we to judge a guy who has gone through horrible pain.
  12. Great article. I keep on hearing that McBeane want character guys etc. One would have thought that, if they really wanted character guys on the team, who better than a guy who has come back from Crohn's disease or another guy who received the Ed Block Courage Award after coming back to play after having a kidney removed. Both of these guys are inspirational and have shown courage, I suspect we will miss both when we see our line struggle and these two have success elsewhere.
  13. I respect your opinion, but disagree. The 10 on the field was the result of Gilmore (if I recall correctly) getting hurt. We had a number of times last year when we did not have the proper number of players on the field as well. I seem to recall one time when we actually had 15 guys on the field or some crazy amount like that.
  14. I disagree. Last year was a classic example of backing into the playoffs. It was a mirage that is about to get very real this year. We are going to find out very clearly this year just how lucky we were last year.
  15. That was made more difficult by the fact that the team's star player decided to go on strike that year (not to mention some injuries). And, in case, there was any doubt about that, ask anyone with the Dolphins what they thought of Mario the next year.
  16. I like Seantrel. I liked him in college. We shall see how he does with Houston. Based on what I have read, he has done well there . . . but I have not actually seen him play for them yet.
  17. I agree with that. Murphy runs hard and certainly is a bright spot.
  18. I would be very wary of playing Allen behind that OL. He is raw to begin with. He certainly has some potential. How much, I do not know, but I would hate to see him get ruined playing behind these jokers. I suspect that AJ or NP likely would get rid of the ball more quickly given that they have more experience (and what I saw of Josh yesterday). P.S. Although I was Arsene Knows Best, I like the way Unai is handling the team and that he does not appear to be taking any BS from our 350k per week diva. Unai will get the best out of him or he will not play for Arsenal.
  19. I am not sure, but it will not make any difference whether he can play OL because Peterman is likely to get hurt playing behind this group.
  20. We really backed into the playoff on a miracle play by Andy Dalton and a delayed controversial call against the Colts on their two point conversion. We also had a team with many metrics relative to the rest of the league that were worse than the year before. Last year was a mirage. We were very fortunate to make the playoffs. It was fun, but it was a mirage. Get ready for some reality this year. If we actually make the playoffs this year, I would be VERY, VERY surprised.
  21. I also think Seantrel was well worth keeping. We made no attempt to sign him and let our former Vice President of Player Personnel, Brian Gaines, (who certainly would be very familiar with Seantrel) sign him after Gaines became GM of the Texans. I suspect that Seantrel is going to do really well for Houston and we will regret not having signed him. As an aside and as a Canes fan, I remember him playing some guard with UM as well. I also thought that the Bills would have been better off not nickle and diming Richie. I am sure people will disagree with me, but I don't think Richie would have had these off season issues if he had continued to have the structure that being on the team provided him. Keeping Richie also was important because of how important he was in the development of Dion Dawkins and the loss of Eric Wood. Speaking of Dion Dawkins, I don't recall ever seeing Cordy pushed around like Myles Garrett pushed around Dawkins. In the end, the offensive line is horrible. Clearly, Eric Wood's situation was thrust upon them (but that also happened back at the very beginning of the off season). Instead of trying to fill holes, McBeane managed to create them by outsmarting themselves. McBeane, our QBs, Shady, and we will regret these decisions immensely between now and the end of what looks to be a long and difficult year.
  22. We had an excellent OL coach with a great record of success. His name was Aaron Kromer. He was under contract and ours if we wanted him. Instead, McCoach outsmarted himself.
  23. All true. Having said that, I have no idea why McCoach did not bring back Aaron Kromer. He was a great offensive line coach, and he was under contract and ours if we wanted him.
  24. It is shocking. We had a team with some holes last year and now, one of our strengths is a horrible mess. 1) Dawkins played well for a rookie last year but I never recall seeing Cordy Glenn pushed around like Myles Garrett manhandled Dawkins. 2) I suspect people will disagree, but it did not make sense to pinch pennies with Richie given how important he was to the line. I also suspect (and maybe I am wrong) that Richie would not be having the problems he is having if he had the structure the Bills gave him these past few years. It would have been nice to not create a hole on the left side of our line . . . especially given how important Richie was to Dion's development last year and the loss of Eric Wood. 3) Seantrel Henderson started at times for the Bills before his Crohn's disease issues. As far as I can tell, we made no attempt to re-sign him. Instead, our former Vice President of player personnel, Brian Gaine, brought him to the Houston Texans after he became GM there. By all accounts, Seantrel is playing well for the Texans and is going to start. I suspect that we will wonder why we did not re-sign Seantrel to play right tackle. I would not start Josh Allen at QB. That statement has more to do with the offensive line than with Josh Allen. Allen has some talent and potential. How much, we shall see. I would hate to destroy that potential behind this line. Just my two cents.
  25. It is a tough way to start the season . . . .
