Jerry Sullivan - taunted the girls in 3rd grade
Peter replied to PatPatPatSack's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Jerry Sullivan is just a whinger. McGahee actually showed a lot of restraint in his comments. It could have gotten really ugly. He did not back bite with MM or point fingers in other directions. McGahee should be praised for his restraint. Anyone could see that the Bucs' game plan was to stop him and dare us to pass. It was only because our passing offense was pathetic that we were not able to run the ball. When our passing offense is effective, it will cause opposing defenses to not crowd the line of scrimmage and everything will open up. -
I was under the impression that you guys believe that JP is the better QB this year. If he is not, why didn't we make him the starter when he will be. I sure as sh*t hope that he is all that you Bledsoe haters think JP is. I love the Bills and want them to try to win it all this year rather than down the road and waste the time that we have this defense together.
-
I have played the game. In fact, I was a running back. Willis was running for his life out there. One of his strengths as a RB is that he does move the pile forward. The guy always seems to know where the first down marker and goal line are and will not be denied. The guy was trying to make something happen out there. The Bucs defense had its way with our line all day. Part of that was that they were selling out to stop the run. Just like every other team is going to do until the Bills demonstrate that they will make them pay for it by effectively passing the ball. We failed miserably at this. As a result, Willis had to break tackles just to reach the line of scrimmage. Not only do I think that MM was wrong on the facts, he also potentially made a long term mistake by "publicly" calling out and trying to embarrass one of his best players. If he really believed what he was saying, MM should have told WM privately or kept it within the team. By spouting off to the media, MM not only looks foolish (at least to me and some others), he risks alienating one of his best players. At the same time, it also looks like he is trying to deflect the heat off of someone else.
-
Nope. Not at all. My own view is that they (MM and TD) are going to give JP a lot of slack given that their most significant decision in the off season was to basically give him the starting job even though he did not do anything in a regular season game prior to this year. They have a lot invested in their decision. He layed an egg on Sunday even though the Bucs's game plan was to take away our running game and dare us to pass. I hope that they are right to do what they did and that JP reaches the potential that a lot of people on this board believe he has. He will continue to have his opportunities to throw the ball if teams follow the Tampa Bay blue print and crowd the line of scrimmage to take away our running game.
-
I just listened to Willis' interview on BuffaloBills.com. There was a very telling question to Willis by one of the reporters: "Do you think that MM is singling you out to direct criticism away from someone else?" This is very interesting given the comments MM made about Willis and did not make about JP. You guys draw your own conclusions about why MM's approach is different regarding these two players.
-
I find it odd that MM would go out of his way to call out Willis. I know that there is some disagreement on this board about Willis' running on Sunday. I frankly believe that he was running for his life. How many tackles did he have to break to just get to the line of scrimmage. Just for once, I would love for Mularky to call out the inadequate play of the offensive line. It is remarkable that he and the Bills management always seem to coddle the offensive line. When they make critical comments, it is usually about the skill players -- although they seem to be treating JP with kid gloves and giving him more slack than McGahee and Moulds for example. Willis seems to be biting his tongue. It will be interesting to see what comments MM makes about McGahee after future games.

You are absolutely correct.

I think that I will stick to taking John Madden's word for it rather than yours. The guy was supposed to run a route beyond the first down marker. Period. As Madden said, not only are you supposed to do it on third down, you damn well better do it on fourth down. Your response(s) is/are priceless given its/their myopic focus on blasting all things Drew.
-
There is part of me that thinks that the Bills did Drew a huge favor. We just have not had the kind of line that we need to win championships. Our line pales in comparison to our championship years. Unfortunately, the Dallas line is not much better. Drew does have a much better coach who knows how to use his talents. I also think that there are a lot of Bills fans that blame the QB for absolutely everything. Because of that, Drew got a disproportionate amount of the blame and continues to get lambasted by the haters club on this board even when he is the NFC offensive player of the week. That in itself shows you the level of illogical hatred that some people have on this board.
-
How many td throws does JP have for the year? How many does Drew? He threw for a friggen first down at the end of the game and it was called back because of Adams' penalty. He threw for another first down that would have been a first down had the receiver run the correct route. The fact of the matter is that Drew is playing much better than JP at this point. The hate for Drew on this board is uncalled for and inexplicable. Although I think that the Bills gave control of the offense to JP a year or so too soon, I am rooting for him to be a succesful QB this year. I really hope that he can pull it together and use this last game as a learning experience. He is going to have the opportunity to prove himself and succeed this year. Opposing teams are going to follow the Bucs blue print of crowding the line of scrimmage to defend against Willis and dare the Bills to pass. The opportunity is going to be there for JP to have a big game. I hope he does. He seems like a good guy and has the ability. We shall see whether the Bills made him the starting QB too soon.
-
It's called a collapse when they do it in less than two minutes at the end of the game.
-
It matters because Drew was productive and put them in a position to win the game but for the Dallas defense's collapse. JP on the other hand did not make any positive contributions in "the grand scheme of things." With any luck, he will bounce back on Sunday. Lord knows the Falcons will be crowding the line of scrimmage daring the Bills to pass the ball. The opportunity will be there for him.

Belichick is correct about goal line cameras
Peter replied to Peter's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You are absolutely correct. With the billions that the NFL makes, there is no excuse for not having consistency throughout the league and with each game. -
Denial, anger, bargaining, depression, acceptance
Peter replied to TC in St. Louis's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The critical stage of recovery is acceptance. I really hope that we can use that game as a learning experience and bounce back against the Falcons. From the coaches on down, we need to use that game a learning experience and stop believing all of our press clippings after the Texans game. Other teams are going to use the Bucs defensive game plan as a blue print. We need to make other teams pay for crowding the line of scrimmage. If we do, it will open up the entire offense. -
The Blesoe haters were the same guys who thought he had a bad game last week when he was NFC offensive player of the week and had a 150 QB rating in a big win on the road against a tough opponent. Whatever he does, the Blesoe haters will find some reason to criticize his performance. They especially did not like the way he let Santana Moss get behind him on those two bombs. Bledsoe should have used press coverage on both of those plays.

Belichick wants league to have cameras at end of each goal line Belichick has asked the league to place cameras at the end of each goal line. He is absolutely correct. Why in the world would the league not implement this as standard practice is beyond me. This drives me crazy every time the league/networks do not have camera directly on the goal line when there is a controversial call at the goal line. They also should have a camera directly on the side line. When Carr "scored" his "TD," there should have been a camera angle that could have shown whether he was out of bounds before the ball cross the goal line.

The comments about Ron Edwards have me scratching
Peter replied to John from Riverside's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Did you guys see who else was on his back on the one rushing TD? I never thought that I would see Sam Adams pushed back the way he was. I will have to re-confirm when I watch the game on short cuts. On second thought, I don't know if I can watch that game again. -
The Tuna wasn't happy about his D getting burned by two bombs in less than two minutes. He didn't mention being unhappy with DB.
-
Which one was open on the hot route? The play was designed to go where it went because of the D. The receiver absolutely must run a four yard or more route when he has four yards to go for the first. The QB is looking at his receivers and has the right to presume that he has run the proper route.
-
Give me a break. You are giving our name a bad name. I didn't realize that there were 53 Drews dressed for the Cowboys tonight. You should get some glasses. They did not lose because of Drew. Drew had a 90 QB rating tonight. You guys were all set to canonize JP when he had a 89 QB rating against the Texans. I will take the Redskins D any day over the Texans.
-
You must have forgotten about his first down pass to Keyshawn that was called back because of Adams' penalty. P.S. It is funny that you should mention throws in the ground. I saw plenty of those yesterday -- as well as all over the place but the receiver's hands. P.P.S. As I said before, Cowboys fans are feeling a lot better about their QB's play tonight than most of us felt about JP's play yesterday. I was expecting JP to step up rather than lay the egg that he did. I just hope that he can get it back on track next week and be able to complete some passes when the Falcons' D is crowding the box to stop Willis.
-
You Drew haters are unbelievable. You guys are grasping at straws. I guaranty you that the Cowboy fans are feeling a lot better about the way their QB played tonight than any sane Bills fan feels about JP's performance yesterday. Drew had a good game. I don't recall that he was covering Santana Moss on those two bombs.
-
As John Madden said, the receiver was responsible for running past the first down marker. You must have missed that.
-
I wish our QB played as "badly" yesterday as Drew is playing tonight.

If blaming 1 player for the safety, it would be...
Peter replied to Fake-Fat Sunny's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You are correct that it was not one of his better blocks. He typically is much better when he is picking up blitzes.
