It seems to me that we pay WM big money to make first downs like that. P.S. Shaud should have had the first down on the previous play if he had cut to the right rather than to the left.

Maybe keeping Bledsoe would have been better?
Peter replied to firstngoal's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Dude, you need to get your eyes checked then. DB is playing well. Deal with it. I am tired of reading these BS excuses why DB is playing so well. Dude, I am a Bills fan. I still have season tickets even though I live in Miami and fly up for games when I can. There is no more devoted Bills fan. Dude, this BS about "blowing kisses" and going over to the Cowboys board is pathetic. Dude, I want the Bills to win with whoever is the Bills QB. Dude, I just think that the Bills were premature in turning it over to JP. Dude, the Bills better upgrade the o-line. Dude, this year is proving that any problems we had with our offense the past couple of years were disproportionately blamed on DB. -

The Bills unintentionally probably did him a favor. For some reason, the Bills decision makers have not grasped the idea that games are won at the line of scrimmage. -

DB is hitting guys in full stride on bombs. As for Keyshawn, you may want to tune into his radio show on Sirius and hear what he has to say about DB and the way he throws the ball. -

The best move would have been to keep Bledsoe, improve the o-line, and not throw JP into the fire, but rather allow him to learn how the NFL game is played. That would have been the best choice for all. Football is a simple game. If you control the line of scrimmage, you win. We could have had a dominating running game with a guy who could throw the deep ball. Moreover, JP would have had time to learn the pro game and the most difficult position in all of sports. Instead, we chose the worst alternative. We did not substantially upgrade the line (although I think that it is a tad better than in recent years). We got rid of the guy who is showing that it was wrong to blame all of the Bills offensive ills on him. Moreover, we have created a difficult situation for a young QB. He just is not ready yet. It was too early to turn over the offense to JP now especially given that the team was supposedly built to win now. I just hope that this experience is a learning experience that will benefit him rather than one that is going to destroy him. These next three weeks are huge for him and the team. -
With any luck that wide out (Roscoe) and the TE (KE) will help this guy get over the hump.

Will we ever see Willis on 3rd down this year?
Peter replied to smokinandjokin's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
WM is our best offensive weapon. He also is a much better blocker than Shaud. There is no reason to take him out on third down as a matter of practice. If he truly needs a break, so be it, but not on every third down. -
Very inspirational. I really don't like ND, but you cannot help but get a bit emotional reading this story. Charlie Weis is a great coach (as Bills fans already are painfully aware), but he also is a great human being. It is so sad that any child has to go through what Montana went through. God bless him.

These next three weeks are going to make or break our season. They are all winnable games. Two of them are at home. If we can win all three, we will have a 4-2 record and will be feeling a lot better about the direction of the team. If we lose two or more of those games and look like we have the past two weeks, it could get really ugly around One Bills Drive (It already is pretty ugly at Two Bills Drive on days). If this season spirals out of control, kiss Nate and some of the other guys goodbye. I really do not see EM here past this year if he has no hope of winning a playoff game before his career is over. Then you have people like WM whom I would like to lock up long term. Players like that may decide that they do not want to be part of the "rebuilding." I know that there are a number of us who are tired of it as well. Think about how long it has been since we have been in a playoff game let alone won one. It is really important that we pull it together as we did last year. The Bills (and we) better hope that (in no particular order): (1) JP can improve, be effective, and that his confidence is not destroyed in the process; (2) Angelo Crowell somehow learns to do his best impression of Takeo; (3) The offensive line can give a young QB the time he needs to find open receivers; (4) Willis does not drop dead from the number of times that we are going to have to call his number; (5) MM does not lose control of this team; (6) The defense figures out how to be more stout against the run and not give up big plays (especially on third down); (7) Our special teams can re-capture what they had last year; (8) Moorman plays more like last year than this year; (9) Lindell continues to play like this year rather than last year; (10) Roscoe and KE get well soon. I am not ready to give up (I am usually the eternal optimist), but we better see some convincing wins in the next three weeks to make sure that this team does not fall apart.

I stopped hating those guys (Brady, Bellichick et al) and Parcells a long time ago. You have to respect them for what they have accomplished.

My reference was to when people seemed to blame one person (DB) for the sacks that the Bills allowed when he was the QB. Now, all the people who were screaming that it was all his fault have gotten what they want (JP) and all of a sudden they have had a revelation about the importance of offensive line play.
-
How do you know they have a better offensive line? Yet, I am glad that some people here are starting to appreciate the importance of an offensive line. It is odd that a lot of people here did not place as much emphasis on the line the past couple of years.

Which one should we give three more weeks?!?

I was listening to Sirius radio this morning. They have a show called Opening Drive with Coach Dan Reeves in the morning during the week. Some Titan fan had the nerve to call and complain about a disputed lateral/forward pass in the Titans' game yesterday. In responding, Coach Reeves commented that he thought that the disputed call in the Bills playoff games was a forward pass and was convinced that it was going to be reversed. Good for Coach Reeves.

Takeo is the heart and soul of the defense. That injury typically takes about a year the last time I heard. Maybe more -- unless the treatment has improved.

If Bledsoe were playing poorly, I bet a bunch of you would think the comparison was relevant -- just like some of you did after the first preseason game and the first quarter of the Charger game.

It's sad. Too many people here seem to enjoy

I desperately want JP to succeed. I thought that he was not ready for the Bills to discard DB and hand over control of the offense to JP yet. QB in the NFL may be one of the most difficult positions in sports. It is very difficult for a young QB to come in and be successful unless you have a team like the Steelers around you. Not only is JP showing that he is not ready, the Bills may be hurting the one attribute that they all raved about -- his confidence. At this point, I don't think that we should pull him. That would further hurt his confidence. We probably have to take our lumps and go through the groing pains with him. I thought he was not ready. He is not. I hope that he can use these games as learning experiences. I also hope that these games amply illustrate the importance of winning games at the line of scrimmage. Football is pretty basic. If you can control the line of scrimmage, you will win 9 times out of 10. This season just shows that DB was not the problem. I just hope that the Bills get it soon enough to save JP. Otherwise, we will have wasted another first round draft choice. Again, I honestly believe that JP has the tools. The Bills just made the wrong decision to make him the starter this year. They should have concentrated on improving the o-line and gotten another year or two out of DB. That would have served the team better, DB better, and certainly JP better. -
It is quite humorous that some of you guys have finally appreciated the importance of an offensive line. I can only hope that the Bills actually begin to realize the importance of an offensive line. Wouldn't it be nice to have a great offensive line, a great running back, and someone who could throw the long ball.
-
The most important decision the Bills "brain trust" made in the off season was to get rid of DB and turn the offense over to JP this season (as opposed to later when he might be more prepared). It is entirely fair to compare what the other guy is doing. Lord knows there were many on this board that were doing this after the first preseason game and in the first quarter of the Cowboys game against the Chargers. For some reason, some of you guys don't like the comparison any more. I wonder why.

Bills fans are the greatest fans, my A$$!!!!
Peter replied to LabattBlue's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I used to think that our fans were the very best . . . until I heard some of them cheer when one of our players got hurt. Now, I think that many of us are still the best fans in the league while some of us are just plain pathetic like the fans of a lot of other teams. -
I really do not like to see men "routing" for other men on a family board like this.

Parrish and Everett - will make a difference
Peter replied to CJPearl2's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
They certainly will help. How much remains to be seen. Yet, Roscoe is a game changer, and I think that Everett could be a steal in the third round. Larry Coker thought that he was ever bit as good as the string of TEs the Canes have had recently. -
I wish his legs would do a better job of throwing the ball.
-
Did you ever make that observation in the last three years when our line could not block the other team's rushers?
-
It meant something to the Cowboys. Just like this game meant something to the Bills and all Bills fans.
