  1. Everyone??? Not me. You have to pay good players. That is just the way it is.
  2. Trading Cordy was foolish for so many reasons. P.S. Jenkinson is in the starting 11 today. Good for Carl. Perseverance.
  3. Correction: "When he isn't guarding Andy Dalton."
  4. At least we can agree that it was foolish to get rid of Cordy (wherever one might play Dion). Getting rid of Cordy was especially idiotic in light of our huge investment in drafting a very, very raw QB. One would have thought that a guy who came back from a kidney removal would have the character to be part of the "process." COYG
  5. I think McCoach may have ruined Peterman by clearly starting him before he was ready last year against the Chargers. It did not help that it appeared that certain members of the line may have demonstrated their upset to TT's benching by not (how shall we say) putting in their best effort. Having said all of that, I REALLY hope that Peterman has a good game and REALLY hope that the crowd gets behind him (and continues to support him). Peterman seems like a great guy, and I would hate for him to be ruined as a serviceable NFL back up QB by what has happened to him thus far. In fact, even if he is never on an NFL roster after this season, I would hate for his lingering memories to be interceptions and pick 6's. I remember watching him in that game against Clemson and being very impressed with his poise and play notwithstanding that Clemson had so much more talent. I still think he can be salvaged if managed properly. Again, I hope that the crowd supports Peterman and does not turn on him during the game. It would be great if he could regain his confidence - which is so important for an NFL QB.
  6. Dawkins would be better with Richie next to him and even better if he were on the right side and Cordy were playing left tackle. P.S. I never saw Cordy beaten the way I have seen Dion beaten sometimes. He seems like a great kid but it is clear that he misses Richie next to him. P.P.S. This is another example of the process guys mismanaging a position group.
  7. I still cannot think of a reason not to do so. P.S. Anyone know how it came about that he was in Buffalo for Thurman's celebration yesterday? Was he invited by the Bills? Did the Bills invite all former players? Did Thurman invite him? Another reason?
  8. It seemed to me watching on TV from Miami that the atmosphere was great and that the crowd contributed to a very good performance by the defense against the Patriots. I also really liked the red light in the club section and thought that the red light in combination with the lights from the cell phones at half time created an amazing look on television (and presumably at the stadium).
  9. It is funny how the McCoach supporters are so offended by someone bringing up something Bills related . . . and very pertinent . . . on a Bills message board. The decision to trade that pick and pass on Mahomes continues to be relevant . . . especially given the way McBeane have (mis)managed the QB situation.
  10. and with Bengals' players . . . .
  11. Thanks for reminding me. I would have kept Darby and Dareus and would have considered Gilmore but for the fact that he decided that tackling was not part of the job. The Bengals signed Brown for cheap as I recall. As for Ragland, I still think that he has talent (unless his knee injury is worse than I thought). The few times that I have seen him play for the Chiefs, he has played pretty well . . . notwithstanding what the Chiefs fan posted.
  12. It must have been all part of the process. Because they always have been amorphous about what the process actually is, they (and their supporters) always feel free to say, hey, it was part of the process.
  13. I never understood getting rid of those things . . . he did apparently allow a ping pong table. I never understood getting rid of Kathryn Smith and, at the same time, keeping Danny freaking Crossman. I never understood not keeping Aaron Kromer (especially given that he was under contract). McCoach even went out of his way to fire the team chaplain. I wonder what he was thinking to cause him to wake up and conclude that he had to fire the team chaplain. We would be a better team with each one of those players that this brain trust did not want. As for Richie, I believe he would be just fine within the structure of the team . . . as he was during the entire time that he was with the Bills. Of course, you can disagree. Nevertheless, there was NO reason to initiate a pay cut with one of our few all pros.
  14. No one but McBeane thought it was a good idea to initiate a pay cut for our all pro offensive left guard. As for Wood, that happened at the very, very beginning of the off season. These guys had more than enough time to figure that out. P.S. A few names: Robert Woods Marquis Goodwin Sammy Watkins Cordy Glenn
  15. I simply disagree. I said it a long time ago before this season even began: Last season was a mirage. McCoach simply does not fill me with confidence. Maybe things will change . . . including my view of him. Nevertheless, I am just not a big fan. I do believe, however, that he deserves more than two years though. No coach should be fired in less than two years. That would be ridiculous.
  16. I did not realize that Andy Dalton was our head coach. I am sorry for my response, but every time I read that McCoach broke our playoff drought, I cannot help but think of: 1) Andy Dalton throwing that miracle 48 yard TD pass on fourth down; 2) The refs taking away the Colts' winning two point conversion on a late and controversial penalty that you hardly ever see called; 3) McCoach believing that Peterman was ready to start in the NFL against the Chargers - he not only lost the game with that decision, he also may have ruined whatever potential Peterman had to be a serviceable QB by starting him way before he was ready; 4) blow out losses; 5) a penalty for 15 men on the field at the same time; 6) a season point differential that was worse than the year before; 7) relative offensive and defensive rankings that also were worse than the year before.
  17. I agree with a lot of what you say here. We got rid of supposedly "bad contracts" and I suspect that we are going to overpay to get guys in free agency given the state of the team (and/or get retreads from Carolina). It is going to be very interesting to see how the money is spent. Also, giving up all of the assets that we did to draft Josh Allen, not making sure that we had a viable veteran QB on opening day, and surrounding our QBs (and Shady) with substandard linemen and WRs (in other words, mishandling the QB situation) do not give me much comfort either. We (in my view) overpaid to obtain a very, very raw QB (who, if I recall correctly, was not even first team mountain west) and then threw him into the fire the way we did. Andy Reid and the Chiefs made sure to have Mahomes learn for a year even though Mahomes was much more ready than Josh to make the transition to the NFL it seems. In the end, my fear is that we are going to have a repeat of the Tim Murray situation where we end up wasting a bunch of capital. And, if Josh Allen does not end up being the franchise QB that McBeane presumably believed him to be, we will have to start the process of looking for a QB all over again in a couple of years . . . . Rinse and repeat. I am going to hope for the best, but I do not have a lot of confidence in either guy right now.
  18. I do not think that any coach should be fired in less than two years. The same applies to McCoach even though I am not a big fan. I also do not think McCoach deserves anything special because Andy Dalton threw a miracle pass and the refs called a late and controversial penalty against the Colts erasing their winning two point conversion --- especially given that McCoach screwed the pooch on thinking Peterman should have played against the Chargers (that not only backfired on the Bills and may have destroyed any development that we could have expected from Peterman).
  19. Facts are facts.
  20. Yes, I thought that the winningest Buffalo Bills coach in nearly two decades deserved to stay beyond two years and did not deserve to be undermined. Fun fact, the point differential and the relative offensive and defensive rankings were worse last year than the year before.
  21. I thought it was ridiculous to undermine and fire the last coach (who was the winningest in almost two decades) in less than two years. It hurt us in terms of continuity and in the eyes of many. To fire McCoach in less than two years also would be ridiculous (even though, as I say, I am not a huge fan).
  22. They come across as uninspired motivational speakers who are in over their head. I have little confidence in these guys. The fact that they stole their catch phrase is just an example of how empty these guys appear to be.
  23. I think that the "process" is nothing but a stolen platitude from Nick Saban and the Philadelphia 76ers. They cannot even come up with their own catch phrase. McBeane then invoke "the process" without ever bothering to ever define what the plan is . . . in an apparent attempt to prevent people from evaluating the plan or how McBeane are progressing according to their own metrics. In the end, the QB mismanagement demonstrates that they are just making it up as they go along.
  24. The process (or plan) has never been articulated and is intentionally completely amorphous. As a result, McBeane (and others) are able to say (after the fact) that such and such was part of the process.
  25. They certainly are good at deconstruction . . . that is for sure. Whether they can be trusted to move forward, spend available cap space, etc. is another story.
