  1. So he will never need game experience? First team snaps? At some point you have to hand the wheel over to him knowing he is going to bounce off a couple of curbs before he gets it right.
  2. True, but he can't scramble for 20 yards on third and 19. And hasn't proven that he can run an interception free offense.
  3. If the standard is "best chance to win right now" then doesn't that mean Allen never starts? How does Allen develop to be better than Peterman who has a year edge on him and will now get all the game experience and first team snaps? At some point you have to start Allen unless whoever else is playing develops into a franchise guy and take your lumps as he works through being a rookie. I think its the right move because I don't think Peterman will last long as the starter and doing it this way will force fans to have more patience with Allen once its proven that Nate is not the answer. If somehow Nate plays like a franchise guy then everyone is happy. That is what makes sense to me, not the "best chance to win" standard. If that was the standard then we should have kept Tyrod and had a QB competition between him, Nate and Josh.
  4. You and your "facts", we want none of that here mister.
  5. Maybe so but wasn't that what we already had in Tyrod? Is our goal at QB to start a "game manager"?
  6. I think its the right move but Nate played well last preseason too and that didn't mean much.
  7. Their rushing DVOA rank was 19th. Running a lot is not the same as running successfully. This year, subtract Richie, Wood and Tuh-Rod's additions to the running game and there is cause for concern there.
  8. I think they have some concerns over his off the field issues. There was the thing with the ex-girlfriend/squatter this summer and the brawl with the police the year before. I don't think they have to worry about banned substances with him but his judgment is legitimately questionable. So yeah, I wouldn't have to be revived with smelling salts if they traded him but he is just so damn good I don't see it happening. It would be the Patriot way to do things but I don't see Mac and the Beane going to the dark side of the force.
  9. If that is the plan, continuing to focus on the run, then I don't see why we didn't keep Taylor or invested heavily in a real quarterback. If that's the plan, I guess I better wear spats to the games and ditch the car for a horse drawn carriage. I don't see the running back situation as a portent of things to come. All they did was try to upgrade the depth, something they tried to do at every position. They were more successful there than at some others but not because they spent anymore capital. If you are looking for a portent of the offense to come, I'd focus more on the question of Foster vs. Streater. Foster is the better deep threat and Streater was the better possession guy. We have plenty of possession guys as it is so they kept the tallest deep threat receiver that was on the roster. They drafted a QB who can launch missiles, took a flier on a speedster in Coleman and kept Foster. Ray Ray is super quick and also can help open up an offense. One critical area they shorted themselves on was the OL. Hmmm....doesn't sound to me like they are recommitting to Flintstone ball. They want to go downfield. We have Shady and we have young QB's so we will still run quite a bit but no more of the "pound the rock and punt" stuff.
  10. I can now confirm what many of you have probably guessed by now that, yet again, I did not make Buffalo's 53 man roster. At his point in my career, at age 57, I may have to face up to the fact that maybe this just isn't going to work out for me. I have to believe that my failure to attend a single meeting, practice or workout may have been a factor in my failure to make the team. Not being under contract, "officially", definitely had its drawbacks such as frequently being detained by security whenever I tried to get anywhere near the practice field. Still, I want to thank the Pegulas and the entire Buffalo Bills organization for the opportunity they gave me. And for dropping all charges. I have already bought season tickets for this year and I am assured that my seats are at least 200 feet away from all members of the organization as is required by the "restraining order" still in effect. Go Bills!
  11. Well we did get a 5th round pick, isn't that just as good as having a future hall of famer sack machine? Isn't it? It is, right? Tell me it is. Please.
  12. Repeat those words on October 29th while you are watching Brady gash our defense with 300 yards and 3 TD's because we don't have a pass rusher.
  13. Is there a rule about shutting down threads that are just too crazy or stupid to be allowed? Even for a trolling effort this is weak sauce.
  14. Seems to me that a "severely talent lacking team" should really try to get some talent. Mack is the most talented defensive player in the league. Seems like a match to me.
  15. Three seconds on third and 29 isn't enough time. Allen either had to throw it away or hang on a bit longer for the WR's to get past the sticks and hope the line holds up. "Analytics" would say the smarter play was to throw it away but at that point in the game, we were desperate for something to happen so I can't fault him for hanging on to it. Thank god its just preseason.
  16. Yesss, yes, that's what it is, a plot, see? Its a plot, a plot so fiendish in its conception so diabolical in its execution that only a mad man would see it.
  17. Don't get me wrong, winning super bowls and all would rock my world but in a way, I think the Buffalo fanbase has more to be proud of last year than any fans in the league. Somehow, in these divided times, our neighbors have become our enemies. In a time where everyone is accusing everyone of everything, Bills fans showed that people can be friends and rivals at the same time and that we can care about people outside of our own tribe. And yes, its great when a rugged individual can achieve something all on his own but it can also be pretty great when people achieve something with a lot of help from other people. I hate it when my dog sees me crying in my crunch-berries. Gotta stop reading this stuff during breakfast.
  18. I have invested heavily in the anti-chafing market. I'm in it for the long haul. "Put your money on obesity" is what I tell the young folks. America produces more cellulite per capita than the rest of the world, combined. "Thigh-Slick", "Grease the Crease" and "Oil the Boil" will soon be products hidden in every medicine cabinet in America. You're welcome.
  19. How much cooler would it be if the stadium in Orchard Park was called "The Rockpile" instead of "New Era Field"?
  20. For me, Tyrod's inability to successfully mount a drive at the end of a game to either run out the clock or score the winning points fatally wounds his chances at being a franchise guy. That certainly was not a product of conservative play calling. I will say this, with Mayfield in the wings, there is no need for Cleveland to limit Tyrod's running. They can afford the risk and that will certainly make Tyrod more effective, at least until he is inevitably injured.
  21. I don't know where he plays but on the highlight films, all his sacks come from him being on the left side.
  22. Tasker was not at all happy that we drafted Allen. In fairness, he was not alone. I tweeted something before the draft that Murphy read on the air that was positive about Allen and Steve was fuming. That is not to say that he didn't have good reasons for his opinion its just that it might be hard for him to double back and really pull for Allen now. I don't think a few preseason games have changed his opinion on Allen all that much. On top of that, its hard to deny that Peterman is looking good so far. Look, emotions were high all off season about these QB's, its going to take some time for it all to settle out.
  23. The first step in resolving such a tie is to construct embraceable architectures so as to mesh real-time systems while utilizing interactive mindshares which in turn will facilitate strategic synergies thereby leveraging relevant variables to achieve a scalable data base to form a results based, granular network capable of flipping a coin.
  24. As big a defender of Allen as I was during the offseason, I didn't appreciate, from the film that was available, just how poised under fire he is as a QB. That has been a very pleasant surprise. Poise like that usually comes from confidence, real confidence, not false bravado. We'll see if that holds up when the games are for real. For now, I'm enjoying the hell out of having hope. Not delusions but real hope that we are on the way to healing the festering wound that has been the QB position on this team since before my hairline receded from Syracuse to somewhere east of Fresno.
