  1. Does this mean that the Dolphins or some other team will soon be hiring Mel Kiper as their GM? Is this the world we now live in?
  2. I imagine the first choice for any player in his position is to play in a big market for a winning team with a dynamic offense. At this point, we don't ring any of those bells unfortunately. That doesn't mean its impossible, just more expensive, to entice that kind of player. I think we are most attractive to young, unproven talent. Starting roster spots are up for grabs at numerous positions so Buffalo is a land of opportunity for those with something to prove.
  3. Its crazy the way RB's running behind good offensive lines always seem to have good games despite their history or pedigree. Its almost as if there was a connection, as if these things are somehow related. Weird.
  4. Dear Editor, I am 8 years old. Some of my little friends say there is no way the Bills will ever beat the Patriots. Papa says, "If you see it in the Sun, it's so." Please tell me the truth, can the Bills ever beat the Patriots? Virginia O'Hanlon, Amherst NY Virginia, your little friends are wrong. They have been affected by the skepticism of a skeptical age. They do not believe except [what] they see. They think that nothing can be which is not comprehensible by their little minds. Yes, Virginia, the Bills can beat the Patriots. The Bills can win just as certainly as love and generosity and devotion exist, and you know that they abound and give to your life its highest beauty and joy. Alas! how dreary would be the world if the Bills never beat the Patriots. It would be as dreary as if there were no Virginias. There would be no childlike faith then, no poetry, no romance to make tolerable this existence. We should have no enjoyment, except in sense and sight. The eternal light with which childhood fills the world would be extinguished. The Bills can and will beat the Patriots! A thousand years from now, Virginia, nay, ten times ten thousand years from now, The Bills will continue to make glad the heart of childhood.
  5. Did we give up on Kay Stephenson too soon? Is Sean an upgrade?
  6. My understanding is that their first choice was to buy them all this outfit but apparently sizing was an issue.
  7. I want to see the OP fired, is that a poll choice? ? Seriously, Crossman is the only guy I think should probably be fired. Special teams has been pretty awful.
  8. What "smack" did he talk? I must have missed it because I didn't see him say anything go opposing players, just encourage his own guys.
  9. Soooo......did I just see film evidence that Josh Allen commands the wind?
  10. He ended up way better than I expected. I only kept him early on because I had Garroppolo so it didn't seem to matter. When he went down I picked up Dalton who carried me until Luck caught on fire. I think no team should be allowed to have Mahomes, his fpts are insane.
  11. He was a key part of one of the best offensive lines in the history of football. I saw him play, twice back in the day. So sorry to hear of his passing, RIP Mike Montler.
  12. I have been riding Andrew Luck all season, finished 2nd in the regular season and lost my playoff game last week but would have won if I started Allen. I almost pulled the trigger because I had Dallas on defense and didn't like the idea of starting a defense against my QB but instead I started New Orleans. Drat.
  13. Let me introduce you to a little something called "sample size" and it's companion, "sampling error". A sample size is a part of the population chosen for a survey or experiment. For example, you might take a survey of dog owner’s brand preferences. You won’t want to survey all the millions of dog owners in the country (either because it’s too expensive or time consuming), so you take a sample size. That may be several thousand owners. The sample size is a representation of all dog owner’s brand preferences. If you choose your sample wisely, it will be a good representation. When you only survey a small sample of the population, [such as a single weekend of passing stats] uncertainty creeps in to your statistics. If you can only survey a certain percentage of the true population, you can never be 100% sure that your statistics are a complete and accurate representation of the population. This uncertainty is called sampling error and is usually measured by a confidence interval. For example, you might state that your results are at a 90% confidence level. That means if you were to repeat your survey over and over, 90% of the time your would get the same results. https://www.statisticshowto.datasciencecentral.com/probability-and-statistics/find-sample-size/
  14. Just what we need, a totally subjective standard that breeds inconsistency like rabbits. Fans have always and will always complain about officiating. Fans have always and will always complain that officials are ruining the game. Complaining is fun and refs are an easy target for fan rage after a difficult loss. The idea that "younger" refs would somehow be better than "older" refs is ridiculous. Good judgment, professionalism, adequate physical conditioning, even temperament and experience are the job qualifications and no age group has a monopoly on any of them. The inescapable fact is that the rules are not and will never be completely black and white. There will always be a need for judgment and there will always be close calls that generate disagreement. The game of football can't exist without rules and those rules, the most critical of which are inherently subjective, have to be interpreted and enforced. All the league can do is insure that their officials are properly trained, adequately compensated and judged based on their performance. I have seen disrespect and abuse of officials at every level, from little league to the pros and in multiple sports. It is getting more and more difficult to find officials because who wants to sign up for that kind of abuse? Controversial calls, no-calls and bad calls are a part of the game. All reasonable efforts to improve that aspect of the game should be made but in the end you have to accept that you can't completely eliminate uncertainty.
  15. I'm as desperate as anyone to get the OL upgraded but I'd find it very difficult to pass on a player as good as Williams. It doesn't seem to make sense to use our top pick to fortify the secondary, arguably the best unit on the team. Then again, how do you take a 2 star lineman and pass on a 5 star corner? Glad I don't have to make these choices.
  16. A young QB is struggling with accuracy while playing on a team with one of the worst OL's in the league and a pack of WR's who couldn't start for a pop warner team? Gee what a surprise. BTW, your analysis might be of more value if after each quarter you summarized his good throws, great throws, and holy s**t how did he do that throws the same way you did with his "bad" throws. And in the end, lets suppose everyone reads this "analysis" and falls down at your feet to reach a consensus that Allen struggles with accuracy? What is the next step? A campaign to fire the GM? A campaign to bench Allen for Barkley? Do you think we should dump Allen and go back to square one at QB? Where are you going with this? Is this just another post from someone sore that we didn't take Rosen or Rudolph who just can't stop trying to prove they were right all along?
  17. I think the beauty of the game was ruined when they started wearing helmets. And don't get me started about the forward pass (newfangled bs if ever there was bs). If I wasn't busy cursing the neighbor's kids for playing in my yard the "new" NFL would really get me steamed up.
  18. Offensively, this is a very bad football team. Allen is carrying them. We may have a franchise QB but we definitely do not have a franchise LT, RT, LG, RG, C, TE or WR. We have a franchise RB that is looking more and more like his talent has reached its expiration date. The fact that he can scratch, crawl, heave and squeeze enough points out of this team to at least be competitive is nothing short of miraculous. We need to worry much less about whether or not Josh is "the guy" and much more about the rest of the roster. Offensively, Josh isn't the final cog needed to fire up a juggernaut, he is the first piece in place on the way to building a real offense. We are on Mediterranean Avenue not Boardwalk.
  19. Allen is the offense at this point.
  20. Love to hear from the draft Mason Rudolph crew. Sorry. Couldn't resist.
  21. Wow. I may have a new favorite player.
  22. Your opinion which you are welcome to express and without rebuke from me. Give that a try sometime.
  23. He must turn water into beer.
  24. We need long-snapper depth, pronto.* *first time I have ever written the word "pronto"
