  1. i don't feel we would have to define him as a H back. He is a TE, he doesn't block great, however, he works hard at it. and that is all you can really ask, I never asked Mark Campbell to be a deep threat why make Vernon davis a dominate blocker. fewer teams blitz teams with good TEs, because the TE always can be a quick hot read, and if it is CB responsible to stop him, well the CB could get hurt. In Davis' case, he can out run safties and run over CBs. Teams like SD and KC don't have a true #1 WR, they have a #1 TE.
  2. I know for a fact that he is. I like Smith a lot, I watched him play the last few years. I thought he was a good player, however since Mel kiper felt the same way I thought I was wrong about him. But during the senior bowl, I was listening to NFL radio on Sirius, and the coaches singled him out in the interview just saying how impressed they were, he hits hard, and he is always around the ball. which made me take back how I felt post kiper. 6'0 200, with the potential to get bigger without losing speed. Also similar coaching as Huff.
  3. if you look at the other models of a cover two, then crowell could be a SLM, it is more required that he be a good athlete. comparing Posey to Crowell is like comparing Pam Anderson to Glen close. While Pam looks the part, if you are going to make a good movie you don't put her in as a lead. unless it's a home movie. Hawk is a good player, and he would be a impact player, and year after year a pro bowler. But if we don't draft him, then I think we'll be fine with crowell, or even Stamer plaing strongside.
  4. Indy rips apart their line all the time, and Manning still has good numbers. I don't think it is the line, I think it is JP, he needs time to become a QB, not to throw. Manning is such a good QB, he doesn't get sacked because he is a threat and you can't blitz him, he'll kill you. Favre used to be that way, good QBs feel the pressure, and know the hot WR. The problem I see is that JP doesn't know his hot reads yet. and a lot of it has to do with small WRs a TE would help. I like JP and I hope he pans out, but the offensive line will look better once JP starts hitting his targets.
  5. Hands: Has soft hands and catches the ball well. Is a tenacious receiver. Has a big vertical leap. Wins jump balls and makes acrobatic catches. Grade: 8.3. Patterns: Has a great understanding of the passing game. Knows how to beat man and zone coverage. Has elite speed for the position. Can stretch defenses but is willing to play in short and intermediate zones. Can turn short routes into long gains. Excels at running routes. Shows the burst to create separation in open field. Grade: 8.5. Run after catch: Speed makes him a scoring threat any time he touches the ball. Is elusive; makes defenders miss. Can outrun most defenders. Grade: 8.5 Release: Is quick off the line and shows the burst to keep defenders away. Sometimes struggles if defenders lock on. Combination of quickness and athleticism creates mismatches. Grade: 7.9. Blocking: His only weakness. Gets to the second level quickly but struggles to hit linebackers. Has great strength but does not use hands well and has trouble at the point of attack. Must improve technique. Would work best as an H-back or "move" tight end who won't need to block. Grade: 7.6. Bottom line: A super athlete, Davis has prototypical size, strength and outstanding speed for his position. His playmaking ability is a result of great instincts, good attitude and a strong work ethic. With his physical attributes and skills, Davis, an early-entry junior, is the top tight end in this class and a potential top 15 pick.
  6. Remember this name, Anthony Smith He is roughly the same size as Huff, but when I saw him play last year, I thought Brian Dawkins. I would go as high as the 2nd round to get him, but I feel he would be ideal as a 3rd rounder. He hits hard and tackles well. and he covers as well as any corner in this years draft. His number don't lie, 71 tackles, 8 PBU and 6 ints. The problem with Blue is he is slow of foot, (4.75 40 time) however I think he'll be good in the cover two where his responsibility is to just hit. I think the seperation between Huff and Smith, Bullocks, Simpson, and Bing are closer than, the seperation between Davis and the rest of the field, and Williams and the rest of the field. That is why I would take Mario or Vernon.
  7. The only thing, the few of you who are high on Davis and Huff are not alone. I believe strongly that the Raiders will select Davis, it is like Al to take the sexy pick, and unless Young is availible, then that will be his selection. and if Huff is still there for SF I feel they will select him, being how weak they are in the 2ndary they need a playmaker, however if Mario Williams is there still I believe they have reason to take him. I think Green Bay is another team that could take Huff. Ngata is a good if not great player, in fact i don't think we could go wrong. But this is another reason I wish the draft was first.
  8. now if only their long list of draft failures had actually worked out for them. If you had to pick a 1st and 2nd day winner it would have to be them.
  9. I have read that they consider him another of their long lines of bad first round picks. so I think they just want to get rid of him and his contract. i still have him rated higher than any of the 06 rookies and Preston.
  10. I heard they were happy with Andruzi(spelling?) and Cosey Coleman. Plus faine is light at 290
  11. instead of having the Free agency begin in march, they should have the draft first. Draft middle/end of March, Free agency beginning of April-gives teams the ability to fill needs post draft.
  12. Mario will be a great player, while I think D'Brick will be a good player. I agree with Jason Peters being a better player. But I can't see trading up, I could see them taking Ngata instead and the raiders taking Davis, SF taking Hawk and us landing Mario. not likely, but I can see it, if I close my eyes real tight
  13. if TD were here, we'd already have Ross Verba under contract, for way too much money. He likes well rested players
  14. Since Cleveland in now pretty much set at center, and guard, Jeff Faine has become kind of the odd man out, I know they have been disappointed in him, however he is an upgrade to Preston. so a 4th for Faine, or maybe the 2nd of our 3rds. I grade him at about the same as Mangold. so draft 1-Haloti Ngata to pair with Tripplett, numbers last year-61 tackles-9 tfl-3 sacks 2-Taitusi Lutai-I feel he might be a Larry Allen type, and can play Left or right guard, he takes pride in moving people 3a-Anthony Smith-the safety from Syracuse is an outstanding hitter, and sees the field very well numbers last year-71 tackes-6ints 3b-Andrew Whitworth-workout numbers have been helping him, projected RT in future. has Mean streak 4-trade for Jeff faine 5-Jonthon Orr-When Lee evens was hurt, several years ago, Orr looked like chad Johnson, he has since not been able to add to that. Great size and great speed. Potential is high, and could compete for 3rd WR. numbers last year-40 rec-688-17.2-8 tds 6-Kai Parshan-ILB/OLB junior ran a poor 40 time, but his college numbers are good, he is a flow to the ball LB, that could compete at LOLB because he has great size last years number-103 tackles-14.5 TFL-8.5 sacks 7-Danieal Manning-Junior from Abilene Christian-5-11 and 200 pounds, corner with speed, could compete for 5th CB Sign Jon Runyan and you have a Line of Peters-Lutai-Faine-Villarrial-Runyan With Preston, Gandy and Whitworth backing I would also consider Wiley's return, along with Adam Archuleta-who paired with Smith gives us two young safeties for the next couple of years. Vincent could be moved back to CB in the cover 2 if Baker or Smith show they should start. Wiley has had injury problems, but could come in and basically tryout. and maybe teach Kelsey something. so after Royal and Tripplett, three more signings with Adam Achuleta being the most expensive, runyan middle of the road and Wiley very cheap 1 year contract
  15. The Pro football weekly's came out, I have it here with me. It's not to bad. If you want the TSN website one, I can give you my id and password, however you have to give me a promise that you will not screw it up, and speaking of which I am willing to trade. PM me
  16. hold off on signing Clements to a long term deal, unless it saves money on the current Cap. There is no guarentee that he'll rebound from last year, and at the moment we are not an attractive date, why would he want to continue with a team that has the 8th pick, unless it's for money. Load up on quality players, draft smart, have a winning team and you'll see that Clements will want to play here. Also with all the dead money, that will be opened in the next year it might be the best move.
  17. I am on the Davis band wagon as well, I like Ngata, and I love Mario, however I feel we could get the biggest impact from Davis, if he (like williams and Ngata) live up to the hype, he might be a once in a lifetime type player. He creates match up problems we've never seen before, and if we release Moulds we need a player that can catch the ten yard quick outs. As far as blocking, he makes a difference because you have to respect his speed, and his size. a team can't send a blitz package exposing Davis for a little 6 yard pass he could take the distance. and if they cover him with a corner, we run the ball. KC has made a living off of that game plan for the last couple of years. address the lines in Free agency and in the 2nd, 3rd and so on. But get the player that may be a 10 time pro bowler (notice the may be part) in the first.
  18. You would be amazed how much better our offensive line would be if we drafted Davis, not because i think he is a good blocker, he is an average blocker, but when the LBs first move is back instead of forward because he has to respect the speed, you play better. in the 3rd, after Davis ha beaten the defense once or twice, and they are forced to add another safety or corner, Willis can run, and if they try to stop the run Davis can dink and dunk them to death.
  19. I was fighting the urge to say the same thing, but I have to agree that a TE might be the best pick
  20. Without question I would bring him in, first since he is older he would be cheaper. We just saved 3.5 million on Adams we can invest half of that and get a better player, yes he is better. I have always loved his play, he is also a positive influence to others, unlike the me first Sam Adams. If you watched the raiders last year, Teddy did his job, his LBs sucked. Paired with Ngata, it could be a dangerous interior, I would resign Edwards just in case. and maybe look to Wroten in the middle rounds. I truly believe that Washington would make Ngata a much better player.
  21. Actually the answer. if we are still postiong about it, and not on some other rant by page 3 is. The Players and coaches along with the league, are holding off on the release of those players. as it stands, those who have been released can be picked up by their old teams, depending on the CBA agreement. It was their way of rewarding those teams that got under the 94 million dollar cap. An Example: if they decide to extend the CBA, and the cap goes to 104ish, then we can just pick up Adams contract where we put it down without a bidding war. of course there will be hurt feelings.
  22. posey and Anderson suck, save your money. thank you for your time
  23. Jets-release Chad, and trade up for Leinart saints-Jay Cutler Tenn-D'Brick-just released Hopkins, kept McNair Houston-Reggie Bush-they wanted D'Brick. Packers-Mario Williams-to team with KGB 49ers-Hawk raiders-Davis-why? the raiders always go with the sexy pick. Buffalo-Ngata-we would be starting Edwards and Anderson otherwise. I might even go DT 1st round and in the 2nd go DT if Bunkley is there or Watson slips. I am hoping that the raiders release Washington and he is willing to come back.
  24. Thank you for the update, I don't mean to sound stupid, it is just a question, is the 12 million after clements Franchise tag numbers?
